The
Tucson Witch Hunt

Immediately after the news broke,
the air became thick with conjecture, speculation and innuendo.
There was a giddy, almost punch-drunk excitement on the left.
No,
Asshole, that was RAGE you were seeing.
How many assassinations should
we put up with before we get angry?
The prophecy had been fulfilled:
“words have consequences.”
And now, the right’s rhetorical chickens had finally come home to roost.
You're damn right.
Gabrielle Giffords said "Words have
consequences" and, unfortunately, she was right.
The dots were too close and the
temptation to connect them too strong.
The target was a Democratic congresswoman. There was the map of her
district in the cross hairs.
There were her own prescient worries about overheated rhetoric.
Yeah, it's ALWAYS a
Democrat who gets shot.
Why should we ignore a pattern when it's clearer than Lake Concha?
Within hours of the shooting, there
was a full-fledged witch hunt
to link the shooter to the right.
And if a Rethug had been
shot after our side put crosshairs on him?
The only problem is that there was
no evidence then, and even now, that
overheated rhetoric from the right had anything to do with the
shooting.
Except that Palin and Pigboy have been screaming "Dems are destroying
America"
while the gun nuts were out buying 31-round clips What did
you THINK was going to happen?
They can't get to Obama so they find some helpless girl to slaughter -
are you say there's no evidence?
Will you say that if a Rethug ever gets shot?.
I have written about violent
rhetoric before, and I’m convinced that it’s poisonous to our politics,
that the preponderance of it comes from the right, and that it has the
potential to manifest in massacres
like the one in Tucson. But I also know that potential,
possibility and even plausibility are not proof.
So, you're a "Democrat" who hates Democrats, like Pat
Cadell, Joe Lieberman and Juan Tom Williams?
Fuck you - stay on THEIR side.
We don't need MORE Rethug apologists on out side.
According to a new poll, 42 percent said that
political rhetoric was not a factor in the shooting,
22 percent said
that it was a minor factor and 20
percent said that it was a major factor.
Look
at the way this "Democrat" slants the poll's findings.
42
percent said it was NOT a factor and
42 percent say it was,
but THIS ASSHOLE
is trying to make you think this is a slam-dunk for the Fascist digs
and their violent gun buddies.
Who
is this Charlie Blow and why is he pretending to be a Democrat?
As a Democrat, he makes an
awfully effective Pigboy-wannabe Republicunt.
Furthermore, most agreed that
focusing on conservative rhetoric as a link in the shooting was
“not a legitimate point but mostly an attempt to use the tragedy to
make conservatives look bad.”
When
a Democrat gets shot, why should we suspect the Democrats?
Why shouldn't we suspect those
who have bumper stickers that say,
"Save
America, Hang a Liberal?"
And nearly an equal number of
people said that Republicans, the Tea Party and Democrats
had all “gone too far in using inflammatory language” to criticize
their opponents.
<>Yeah, that's like saying "Bartcop
and Sam Walton have destroyed millions of Mom & Pop businesses."
Yeah, that's like saying "When
Bartcop and Bill Gates get together in the same room,
their net aggregate worth is over $30 billion each."
>Yeah, that's like saying "Between Bartcop and George Bush, they have
killed over one million Iraqis."
You can say all kinds of shit, Mr. Blow, but that doesn't make it true.
You're a liar and a whore and I can smell your horseshit
all the way down here in Oklahoma.
BTW, I would expect nothing less from the New York Whore Times.
Great. So the left overreacts and
overreaches and it only accomplishes two things:
fostering sympathy for its opponents and nurturing a false equivalence
within the body politic.
Well done, Democrats.
Boo Hoo.
Poor f-ing You.
You're a Pigboy-loving "Democrat" who hates his own party -
so go fuck yourself.
STAY ON THEIR SIDE
because we don't need any more Zell Millers or Susan Estrich's.
Tell
you what: If you do the honest thing and change your voter
registration to Republicunt,
I'll send you a bottle of Scope so you can wash the taste of Rush's
semen out of your mouth - deal?
Now we’ve settled into the
by-any-means-necessary argument: anything that gets us to focus on the
rhetoric and tamp it down is a good thing. But a wrong in the service
of righteousness is no less wrong,
no less corrosive, no less a menace to the very righteousness it’s
meant to support.
Translation:
Rush and Palin should be allowed to incite the insane with
violent rhetoric all they want
and we
"good Democrats" should just lie there and take it - and then clean the
blood up when the shooting's over.
<>You can take your "Don't blame the
Rethugs" message and shove it up your ass.
I'm not signing up for your Surrender Brigade.
>
You can’t claim the higher ground
in a pit of quicksand.
Fuck you, Benedict.
When Pigboy and Palin are in the room, there's nothing left but "higher
ground."
