Cheney Meets War Protesters in Tulsa
  April 28, 2007

While hundreds gathered inside the Doubletree Hotel to hear Dick Cheney lie,
others gathered outside for a different message.

"Impeach! Indict! Imprison!"

"Dick Cheney, you can't hide! We charge you with genocide!"

Around 50 protesters gathered on Seventh Street on Friday across from the hotel
where Cheney was lying at a fundraiser for Jim Inhofe (R-Insane Pissquik).

While the protest was mostly peaceful, 10 people were cited for blocking traffic
by lying down in Seventh Street. The citations carried a $120 fine.

Tulsa resident Billie Letts, author of "Where the Heart Is," was cited and later arrested
for disobeying police orders to stay behind barricades.

"I am vehemently opposed to this war," Letts said shortly before being arrested.
"The Americans killed and Iraqis killed breaks my heart. This war is solving nothing."

Dr. Eric Mix of Tahlequah, who formerly worked for the CIA, said he also is against the war.

"I took an oath to uphold the Constitution, to protect against all enemies foreign and domestic," he said.
"I'm here to uphold that oath because I believe Cheney and Bush are two of the greatest enemies of
the Constitution and of the United States of America."

Some protesters, including Jennifer Laub of Tulsa, shouted at people entering the hotel
to discourage them from spending the $250 for the event.

"Why spend your money for Cheney, a war criminal?" she asked.
"Send it to the people of New Orleans."

The protest drew an audience, even though Cheney cowardly entered the hotel from behind,
the same position he likes when he's screwing America..

Tim Westhusing of Tulsa said he wasn't sure if he was against Inhofe and Cheney,
but was there to support his brother, Ted, who died while serving in Iraq.

"I think this brings me closer to Ted," he said. "He knew Inhofe very well. I don't support
a lot of what (Inhofe and Cheney) believe in how to manage the war . . . we have great
people out there with terrible direction."

Tulsa Police Sgt. Skipper Bain said he was pleased the protest's organizers worked
with police beforehand to ensure that nobody was hurt.

"They asked for perimeters and were given choices. Some still wanted to make a further
statement by receiving citations. They made their choices and we made sure they wouldn't get hurt."
