Subject: Driving Miss Hillary
Bart, Jimmy the H is trying to get you to understand why that ‘toon can be perceived as “racist”.
I know you said you don’t “do Kleenex” movies at your house, but how can you argue about
the ‘toon and its appropriate-ness if you haven’t seen the darned movie!
I'm just saying the toon didn't offend me.
If I saw the movie, maybe I'd be as offended as those who saw the movie.
Koresh knows I get a lot of toons each day, and I have no motive to publish toons
that'd cause people to get upset and scream "Racism!" and cancel their subscription.
Let me put it this way…I’ve been reading your page since I lived in OK (that’s over 7 years)
and if there is one thing I am sure of … you are not a racist. But until you understand the
CONTEXT of the movie, then you CAN’T understand how right-wing that ‘toon is.
I gathered thatg Morgan Freeman's character and the evil white woman were friends.
In the toon, it looks like they might be sharing a laugh - am I wrong?
She's leaning over, talking with him - certainly not barking orders at him.
(This just in - the evil white woman was Jewish in the movie.
Christ, if I'd known that, I never would've published the damn thing.)
It’s as if Hillary was using Obama as a slave, a toady, nice guy but not too bright when in reality
he’s every bit as capable as she is. It plays into the stereotype of blacks back in the early days of movies.
I see and understand what you're saying, but I have a question.
You says "it plays into," well it didn't for me.
I thought of the movie, which wo n some awards, I think,.
If someone sees that toon and it doesn't "play into" that sterotype - is that the part I'm missing? I should've gone their first?
Is it indicative of my insensitivity if someone beats me to that thought?
I am trying to figure out a similar analogy but nothing come to mind right now (I’m old what can I say).
Maybe one of your dozens of readers can. Some people get off on the wrong foot with you and
occasionally (rare but it happens) you truly misunderstand what they are getting at. Always a snake pit
when exchanging ideas via the internet. All I’m saying is to get the whole picture before you call others
some names that probably aren’t any more accurate than their names for you.
If can come up with some reasonable comparisons, I’ll get ‘em to you.
Faithful reader ducks
So what's the lesson I should learn from this?
