Why the Democrats Have to Filibuster Alito
  an essay by BartCop

Within the last year (who has time to look things up?) the GOP basically told the Democrats,
"If you try to use your right to filibuster, we will take that right away from you."
But if we can't use it, we don't have it, so why play along with their charade?

Not sure why, but it reminds me of a kidnapper telling his victim, "Don't try to escape."
Fuck that, I say we try to escape and here's how we do it.

When the Democrats backed off in the face of the GOP's threat, they gave up their right to filibuster.
It could be said they had little choice, then, but things have changed.

Bush's approval rating is somewhere around 35 percent right now, so now is the time to strike.
The Democrats should announce their filibuster against Alito - just to prove they can.
The Republicans will be powerless to stop them and here's why:

They won't dare kill the filibuster because voters know, or could be informed quickly, that a
filibuster may be the only thing that saves us from Bush ruining what's left of this once-great country.

If the Republicans try to stop the Demo filibuster, the Democrats could frame the argument this way:

"Bush and his Republicans are cheating to get absolute power.
Can we trust Bush the Liar and his party of liars with absolute power?
Or should the Democrats have the right to stop their crazy agenda?"

If the polls can be believed, a majority of Republicans don't trust Bush anymore. There's no way
the GOP could kill the filibuster now, so now is the time to force the GOP to take their Bush loyalty test.

Next month, Bush could be at 40 percent approval, but then again, he might be at 30 percent.
One week after the GOP lost 6 of 7 races (pro-choice Bloomberg being the only winner)
they don't dare stand with Bush since his Titanic hit the iceberg and started to sink.

Bush is f-ing poison right now, so now is when we force the GOP to take a Bush loyalty test.

It's perfect!
Besides derailing Alito, we'll be forcing them to adandon their "no filibuster" horseshit.
We'll have our filibuster back and Bush will be dealt another stinging blow.

Like all of Ol' Bart's ideas, this one is dirt simple.
It's so simple, nobody else has thought of it.

Let's shove Alito right back down their throats.
Let's raise the bet when we're holding the Aces.

Do we think we'll get a better hand if we wait a week, ...or a month, ...or a year?

I say No.
I say we attack  right now - today - and declare the Alito nomination dead, dead, dead.
Bush isn't a grizzly bear, but due to Demo cowardice, he unjustly got a reputation for being a grizzly.

I say we attack the grizzly while he's weak, disoriented and confused.

How many chances will we get to stop this madman?
