Subject: Robert Fisk on the Bombing
of Qana
Bart,
I can understand your reluctance to piss off your
Jewish readership
(not to mention the Kibbutz advertiser...), but why do
you give a free pass
to Israel in their collective punishment of the Lebanese
people ?
I must assume there are Jewish
people who read bartcop.com
but this is hardly Jew central.
Not sure what a Kibbutz advertiser
is.
Please point out the "free pass."
You seem to be saying...
Was I unclear?
Did I use weasel words to have it both ways?
Am I too shy to speak my mind?
...that there need be no rules of engagement and no
'proportionality' required of an army
of a self-proclaimed democratic and enlightened nation.
On that basis, if a terrorist is known
to be hiding in, say, Basra, why doesn't the US just
nuke the said city and have done with it ?
No telling what you mean to say, but I'm against nuking
Basra.
Or are you perhaps saying that the rules that apply
(or are supposed to apply)
to the armies of the US, UK, France etc need not apply
to Israel ?
One of us can't think straight due to temporary insanity.
For some reason, when I say "Move away from the incoming
bombs,"
people write and ask when I'm going to stop sucking Israel's
ass.
Why can't "move away from the bombs" just be "move away
from the bombs?"
Those children in Qana should clearly have had the
foresight to leave the basement
where they were sheltering at 1o'clock in the morning
to avoid Israeli retribution for
the (alleged) presence of Hezbollah nearby. Are you serious
Bart ?
You can't fabricate a quote, attribute it to me, then
ask if I'm serious.
Maybe that's how the insane debate, but I don't play
that way.
You weren't there, I wasn't there.
Fisk was nearby, but he's as tainted as everyone else
on the subject.
Would you like me to rerun his column and underline every
anti-Israeli slur?
The soldiers kidnapped by Hezbollah were in Lebanese
territory (ie. yet another violation
of border or airspace by Israel), and no rockets 'rained
down' on Israel before the latter
had bombed Lebanese bridges, power stations, and even
Beirut airport.
...and you know this because someone you believe said
so?
Someone just wrote me that Hezbollah hasn't killed
a civilian Jew in 6 years.
Where do you people get your facts from 11,000 miles
away?
BBC? CBS? FOX News? CNN?
I notice Christian Ammonpour (sp?) who is one of
the best reporters in the world,
has a pro-Israeli bias - first time I've seen her with
one.
Who can you trust?
Who in that region gives you straight, unbiased news?
Perhaps one way of stopping this violence would be
to halt US arms shipments to the
protagonist of the violence, paid for by your tax dollars.
I know, the stuff of dreams....
Nearly all the problems of US politics can be revealed
by the craven attitude of Congress
before the Israeli lobby.
The BFEE is arming both sides and making a handsome
profit.
Kudos to Perkel for telling it straight...
Paul in Paris.
Kudos to Perkel for hosting those who disagree with him.
