My Brush with Greatness
When I was living in
Nashville, I "adopted" an elderly lady living in a the nursing home
near Vanderbilt University.
I was visiting her one day when Minnie Pearl dropped
by--unannounced, unexpected, unpaid. She did her jokes
and routine and entertained all of us for about 30 minutes out of the
kindness of her very big heart. I heard later
that she did that sort of thing often. She was a lovely,
gracious, kind lady.
