My Brush with Greatness
In college, after
getting out of the army in 1953, I worked a couple of nights a week at
the L.A. County playgrounds.
One was in the Pacific Palisades where
a group used the auditorium for an amateur acting group.
They asked me to join but I said no.
Later I saw the guy as a cowboy in a
John Wayne flick and later as the star of Gunsmoke.
I could have been James Arness's sidekick Chester.
