My Brush with Greatness
In February of 1969,
while in Vietnam, my unit was at NDP Bandit hill (don't ask me
where they came up with these names) I was doing routine maintenence on
my tank
when a person came up behind me and asked what I was doing, when I
turned around
to answer him, it was Sebastian Cabot
who had played Mr. French on TV's Family Affair.
He talked with me for a few minutes. I
have never forgotten the gesture of a TV star
standing in mud making my day just a little better.
