My Brush with Greatness

I was 18, working in a comic book store in Southern California around
1984 when who should
walk in but Mr. Tom Hanks. He was on a break from filming one of
the final scenes for
“Bachelor Party” in the Mann’s 6 Cinema (made into a Mann’s 36 Cinema
in the film,) a few doors down.
He browsed a bit and bought a Starlog Magazine. I told him “just
so you know, I was really bummed
when they canceled ‘Bosom Buddies.” He said “me too. And
you weren’t getting paid for it!” Real nice guy.
