My Brush with Greatness
Tommie has been my
significant other for 25 years. We did campaign for Clinton in 1996 and
I got
to shake his hand but we really didn't rank much with the party so it
was a surprise when Tommie
was chosen to be the gopher for the Clinton group when they made a
campaign stop in Billings.
She did errands like going for copies
etc. and when Clinton was leaving, Mike McCurry was late and
Tommie raced him up to the airport in her old gold '77 Cadillac. As
they approached the airport gate,
secret service drew their guns, but waved them through once McCurry
made it known that it was him in the car.
Tommie was the the only Billings
resident to board Air Force One and to talk with Clinton one more time.
The picture is in the basement of the Sheraton Hotel as Clinton was
leaving Billings.
