My Brush with Greatness
My daughter’s high school held a chili cook-off as a fundraiser.
The head judge was none other than Burton Gilliam, Lyle from Blazing Saddles.
It turns out that he graduated from her high school, Woodrow Wilson HS in Dallas.
Woodrow Wilson is also famous as the only high school in America with 2 Heisman Trophy winners,
Tim Brown in 1987 and Davey O’Brien in 1938. Other alums include Carroll Shelby, Dusty Hill of
ZZ Top and Mariano Martinez, inventor of the frozen margarita.
But it doesn’t get much greater than Lyle. Here’s a photo of us.
