My Brush with Greatness

Hey Bart
I have been seeing this heavily tattooed guy older than me ( I'm 52 ) at the local
grocery for some time now , but today we spoke. We complemented each other
on our ink and had a pleasant chat. It ended with introductions, it was Diamond Glen.

He opened the first Tattoo shop in Austin, Tx. in 1973. Notorious as a tattooist in Austin,
some of it good, some of it bad. He was derided by other tattooists in town for his "turbo"
apprenticeships ... blamed for unleashing bad tattooists on the city. But mostly I think they
were just jealous of his success and legacy. Turns out we had met 25 years ago ... briefly
at one of shops. We lamented today about not having any more room for ink. It was cool
to meet him, again.
 Rob in Austin, Texas
