My Brush with Greatness
It was the mid '70s,
and I was working for a company in Nashville Tennessee.
I lived in a location near to a large grocery store called 'Giant
Foods' in the
100 Oaks shopping mall in Berry Hill, an enclave of Nashville proper.
I was bummed from work, a bad day, but I had to get the shopping done
on my way home from work.
So I was wearing a weary frown and trundling my shopping cart from
aisle to aisle getting the basics
for the bachelor I was at that time.
Rounding a corner and wearing the frown I looked up and there was
Minnie Pearl pushing a cart
and wearing a smile. When she saw me she brightened up even more
and said her famous 'Howdy!'
Immediately the burdens of my day were gone and a big smile covered my
face!
Minnie Pearl is a Tennessee Treasure, and I am grateful for her
presence that day and for all of her goodness.
What a treat for a simple guy.
