Survivor
'Redemption Island' Preview
by the Liberal Bastard
Hi
All –
This is a quick rundown on the next Survivor season, debuting on
February 16th (on CBS, of course.)
Nothing here is spoiler stuff; it’s all been publicized by CBS.
First
off, the major changes: Redemption Island, and the return of two prior
contestants. First off,
Redemption Island is a new twist; the person voted off goes there and
waits for the next person to
be voted off. The two people square off in a competition, and the loser
goes home.
I
wonder how that will affect the game story – are they going to have
three competitions each week?
I’m betting that they will combine the reward/immunity challenge into a
single event, and have a
separate challenge for the two (losers) on Redemption Island.
Question
I have: Are they only going to allow one person to return? (And When?)
The other twist is bringing back some prior contestants – in this case,
Boston Rob and Russell Hantz.
I’m not really happy about this; there are many people that have
applied many times for this game
(like ME) - these two will have had SEVEN(!) chances to win this thing.
I think this is a bit much,
especially with Russell.
If
he does not change his game, he does not have a chance of winning
against anybody who has seen
a previous season of his. (Would YOU trust him?) Rob had a change in
heart during his last season
(Heroes Vs Villains) but still lost (at Russell’s bidding). I hope this
works out, but I think CBS did
a stupid thing with this twist. They've done it before in Guatemala,
anyway. I’m gonna be really
PO’ed if they do something stupid like giving the two immunity right
off the bat, but I almost
expect it; Russell would be dead meat at the first Tribal, otherwise.
Here is the published list of the two tribes. I plan to explore each
contestant’s chances before the
series starts, and hopefully predict the winner (HAH!). The group seems
to be fairly tough; there is
the standard bimbo contingent, the athletic guys, as well as a surfer
dude, a couple of rednecks
and a former NFL player or two. Only real complaint: most of ‘em are
from California!
What,
you can’t find ANYBODY from outside of Ca.? (I bet there is a good
candidate in Atlanta! Hint, hint!)
