Tally's Tequila Taste Test

Back to the subject of tequila momentarily.....

On a recent trip to Agaveland, I aquired a second bottle of Porfidio Añejo
(the one with the handblown glass cactus in the bottle), so I could now open
one bottle, and save the other.

So last night some friends sat down and we all did a taste comparrison.

Those in the running:

30-30 Añejo

Herradura Reposado (just because we had some)

Chinaco Añejo (natch)

and

The recently aquired Porfidio Añejo

The 30-30 was first.
Nice oak, very smooth finish, with lots of agave smell (nose).

Then came the Herradura Reposado. Very strong bite.
You could really tell the difference.
I wouldn't call this one smooth in any way.

So, on to the Miracle at Canaan, Chinaco.
(yes, I have the "AA" wildflower batch) Extremely smooth, with a nutty, honey-like finish.

Last was the new bottle of Porfidio. The new bottle is decidedly darker than the first;
obviously the barrel had more char going on.    Smooth.    Nice finish, great agave nose.
But the honey quality was definately missing.   So Chinaco still is #1 with me.
My friends were torn between the Porfidio and the Chinaco.

Just thought I'd share.
