Bush and
Catholics
Guest rant by Toomey
Give me a flying fluckin' break!
A woman is in a vegetative state for 15 years,
the courts have ruled about 5,000 times that her husband has a right
to terminate the feeding tube because medical
doctors have determined she will never recover, and even the Catholic
Church's official doctrine supports this!!
Reference: Catechism of the Catholic Church,
which is official doctrine. It also forbids unjust war and the death
penalty.
"2278 Discontinuing medical procedures that are
burdensome, dangerous, extraordinary, or disproportionate to the
expected outcome can be legitimate; it is the
refusal of "over-zealous" treatment. Here one does not will to cause death;
one's inability to impede it is merely accepted.
The decisions should be made by the patient if he is competent and able
or,
if not, by those legally entitled to act for
the patient, whose reasonable will and legitimate interests must always
be respected."
I'm as faithful a Catholic as I can be, Bart,
and to you I say: Whenever you hear spouting-off from the Vatican,
just remember
that there is a right-wing element in the hierarchy
that is positioning itself and doing a power-grab because a vacancy in
the top
leadership position is inevitable.
But I - a mere ordinary unknown Catholic layman
- submit that any Catholic lawmaker who votes for unjust war -
who supports torture - who votes for the death
penalty - who interferes with a legal guardian of an unresponsive person
in a permanent vegetative state.....
Well I have news for them: THEY ARE VIOLATING
OFFICIAL CATHOLIC CHURCH DOCTRINE!!!
Will the right-wing bishops condemn this?
Will they threaten to withhold communion from
these people?
No, only because of their party status.
The moderate and liberal Catholic bishops and
those in the Vatican hierarchy
need to step up to the plate and start speaking
up, loud and clear.
Now, back to Bush's vacation.
This brain-dead clown who should be impeached
about 1,000 times for his crimes against humanity and
unAmerican actions, received a daily briefing
on Aug 6 2001 entitled, 'Bin Laden Determined To Strike In U.S.'
The stupid fluckin' a-hole was briefed every
day and each day the briefings got more and more ominous.
But no, the fake president had to stay on his
fake ranch to clean up fake brush.
He couldn't fluckin' return to Washington DC
on 9/11 because he shit his pants and ran around like a scared bunny.
He couldn't fluckin' return to Washington DC
when his own intelligence staff were screaming that we were about
to be attacked by Bin Laden and Al-Qaida.
But he fluckin' returns to Washington DC to sign
one of the most hateful, spiteful, mean-spirited, and manipulative
pieces of legislation to continue someone's suffering.
And the Dems don't have the fluckin' balls to
stand up and say, 'This is idiotic!' The Dems don't have the fluckin'
balls to show any courage, to stand up to this
Fascist Dictator.
Looks like Howard Dean needs to loosen his tie
and collar and give his March 2003 'What I wanna know' speech
(Google it if you don't know what this means).
After this awful, sickening episode of pure torment
- TORTURE - concludes, Michael Schiavo ought to run for Senate.
Or maybe President.
Thanks for letting me vent,
Toomey
