“Approximately 33% of homeless men are veterans, although veterans comprise only 23%
 of the general adult male population. The National Coalition for Homeless Veterans estimates
 that on any given night, 299,321 veterans are homeless. Black veterans are 1.4 times more likely
 to be homeless than white veterans (National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, 2003).

·Between 9000 -120,000+ suicides (there is much debate about this figure) According to
 Microsoft Encarta Online Encyclopedia 2004 at least 20,000 Vietnam veterans commit suicide after the war.

·Amputations or crippling wounds were 300 percent higher than in World War II. 75,000 Vietnam veterans are severely disabled.

·815,000 US soldiers are disabled. [Disabled Veterans' LIFE Memorial Foundation website, 4/15/2004]

·Though the US government has accepted responsibility for the health complications in US soldiers
 that resulted from exposure to Agent Orange (about 20,000 US soldiers were affected), the US has
 refused to compensate Vietnamese victims.
