 It's the Media, Stupid!
     by Robert Parry of  consortiumnews.com

  Click  Here

  Excerpt:
The reason that negative attacks could work so well for the Bush campaign was the preexistence of
a vast conservative media infrastructure that serves as both an echo chamber for Republican messages
and a way to protect George W. Bush and other Republicans from attack.

Indeed, the conservative investment of tens of billions of dollars in media over the past quarter century
may be the biggest - and least reported - money-in-politics story of modern American history.
The conservatives' ability to saturate the airwaves with their version of reality has changed how
millions of Americans understand the world.

So, even when the Democrats can roughly match the Republicans in election fundraising - as occurred
in 2004 with each side spending about $1 billion - the Republicans have a huge, built-in advantage
because the conservative media reinforces their messages. This infrastructure also works between elections
 - day-in-day-out, year-in-year-out - to keep the Republican base engaged and the Democrats on the defensive.

DeLay's Tactics Work On House Republicans
   by Joe Conason

  Click  Here

  Excerpt:
What the latest rules reversal proves is that while Mr. DeLay may be crude, he certainly isn't stupid.
Blistered by criticism from editorial boards and nonpartisan groups, the Republican boss realized that
he and his members are now vulnerable to the same moral arguments they once used to oust the
Democrats from power. That danger was emphasized by a coalition of eight citizen organizations,
ranging from Judicial Watch on the right to Public Campaign on the left, which gave voice to public outrage.
Suddenly, as angry e-mails poured into their offices, the people's elected representatives understood
that voting to weaken ethics rules on the first day of the 109th Congress wouldn't look so good.

 Dear John,

I and many people poured our hearts (and pocketbooks) out for you
in the campaign and now you say you won't protest the Ohio electors?!?!
This is why the Republicans prevail.

You don't have the balls to confront them and shout "ENOUGH!" or "STOP!"
to everything they represent from policy to stealing elections.

I now feel foolish for supporting your campaign.
You need not bother asking me again for support.
If you won't help yourself why ask me?

CNN said goodbye to Tucker Carlson (R-dick) and with him likely "Crossfire."
CNN will probably fold "Crossfire" into its other programming, perhaps as an occasional
segment on "Inside Politics," said Jonathan Klein, chief executive of CNN's U.S. network.

The bow-tie bastard got into a public tussle last fall with Jon Stewart, who has been critical
of cable political programs that devolve into shoutfests. Syewart told Crlson, "You're a dick."

"I guess I come down more firmly in the Jon Stewart camp," Klein told The Associated Press.

Whenever some religious person says that they do not believe in evolution...
I always point to Noah's Arc.

Religious folks believe that all the animals on earth, all the humans, all races, all species...
all of it evolved from one boat load of critters and 6 people.  Which by the way, only happened
because their oh so loving and kind god murdered every other living thing on the planet with a giant flood.

And before that... they believed that all animals and humans on earth evolved from one couple,
Adam and Eve and the critters in the garden.

So yeah, all religious folks believe in evolution... not only that, they worship it.

 Subject: marijuana and god

 Bart,
The continued prohibition of Cannabis has nothing to do with the 'invisible cloud being'; 'God' is obviously pro-pot:

Genesis 1:29   And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face
of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
Genesis 1:30   I have given every green herb
Genesis 9:3     Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
Psalms104:14 He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man:

It all comes down to the republicrats real god - money. The prison industry is one of the fastest growing sectors
of our economy, and a significant portion of the prison population is in for botanical crimes. Decriminalization would
mean that all those DEA agents and narcotics cops would have to get real jobs. And pharmaceutical companies
would have competition from a superior drug that they can't charge a fortune for; tobacco and alcohol industries
would have a competing product that's superior to theirs in every way - all of which result in less filthy lucre for
congress-critters in the form of bribes - er, "campaign contributions". Even medical marijuana is a financial threat,
and the BFEE would rather see any number of people suffer and die rather than have their shares of Eli-Lilly stock lose value.

Even when cannabis was first outlawed, it had nothing to do with religion or vice, and everything to do with money.
Jack Herer, probably the worlds foremost authority on cannabis, presents a well-researched account of the origins
of marijuana prohibition in his book 'The Emperor Wears No Clothes". You can read that portion of his book at
 his website here -  http://www.jackherer.com/chapter04.html

The majority of the country, even those with devout religious beliefs, favors medical marijuana. The problem isn't
with those who worship an invisible despot in the sky, its those who worship power and money. And unfortunately,
that includes democrats as well as republicans. Even our last elected President, Bill Clinton, supported the war on
some drugs. Only after leaving office did he even hint at the idea that maybe marijuana laws are unjust. While in office
he appointed a war criminal as Drug Fuhrer - er, "czar", a man who lied about medical marijuana and essentially
bribed tv networks with our money to include anti-marijuana messages in tv shows. (for info on Gen. Mcaffreys
war crimes, please refer to Seymour Hersch's excellent article on the subject, available online).

 Hi Bart,
 You've got the right idea.

I hate to admit it, but I'm a working economist and financial analyst nearing retirement.
Never made much and never had much, but the best investment I made in 2004 was investing
in Eastern European stocks, and selling off all the rest of my US stock on November 4th.

I'm getting ready to buy some oil and energy stock, counting on Bush to continue to fuck up
the entire world, our country's economy, and our security.

That's my liberal-ass prediction and I'm putting my money where my mouth is.  No shit.
It's going to be a good year financially, which is my consolation for that nitwit going back in the White House.

 Subject: marijuana

 Hey Bart
DKS's comments about Marijuana being a gateway drug isn't too far off base and let me explain why.

As a teen in the 70s I was bombarded with information telling me of the horrors that would befall me if I smoked pot.
I smoked it anyway and found out that it didn't do any of the horrible things we were told and because of the lie that
was pushed on us I just assumed that the propaganda about Cocaine, Heroin and any other number of drugs was false also.

Once kids find out that all the hype about Pot is wrong it opens up the gateway to finding out if everything told to us about drugs is a lie.
 Maria

 Maria, great point.
Lying to your kids tells them you're either a liar or an idiot.

The bastard who lied us into war, killing 1340 soldiers and 100,000 civilians,
who has been stealing $100 million a day for 544 days?

NBC's 'Fear Factor' Sued for Rat-Eating Episode

  Excerpt
Watching contestants eat dead rats on NBC's gross-out stunt show "Fear Factor" so disgusted
a Cleveland man that he has sued NBC for $2.5 million, saying he could not stomach what he saw.

In a lawsuit filed in Cleveland, paralegal Austin Aitken said, "To have the individuals on the show eat
(yes) and drink dead rats was crazy and from a viewer's point of view made me throw-up as well as
another in the house at the same time.  NBC is sending the wrong message to its TV watchers that cash
can make or have people do just about anything beyond reasoning (sic) and in most cases against their will."

 I like this.
NBC's president should have to resign over this show.
America should change its name to "Whore nation," because some people would do anything to be on TV.

Look at Tim Russert, who sold his dignity years ago to be the top Nazi whore on the "Fear Factor" network.

 Gonzales Disavows Torture Tactics
To trick the Dems into confirming him...

  Click  Here

  Excerpt:
Attorney general nominee Alberto Gonzales drew scorching criticism from Senate Democrats
on Thursday for his role in Bush administration policies on the treatment of terror suspects.
He repudiated torture tactics and vowed at a contentious confirmation hearing to abide by
international treaties on prisoner rights - and the Democrats are expected to buy this horseshit?

"I will no longer represent only the White House. I will represent the United States of America
and its people. I understand the difference between the two roles," he lied.

"America's troops and citizens are at greater risk" because of administration policies that are
"tantamount to torture," said Sen. Patrick Leahy, Bush's toy rubber stamp.

This is one of the uglist handjobs in the history of  bartcop.com

We all know the gelding Democrats are going to confirm Mr Torture.

I would bet $1000 on it, and I don't have $1000 to lose.

The Democrats are handjobbing you and me and the entire nation with this horseshit charade.
They're going to confirm Gonzales and nothing will stop them, but for the idiots like you and me
who are halfway paying attention, they're pretending to "grill" Gonzales but it's just a ruse
to make us think they're doing their jobs.

The Democrats are lying to protect Bush and it makes me f-ing sick.

The democrats are lying to us like they were Bush's prison bitches.
For a pack of Camel no-filters, they're going to confirm Mr. Torture.

If the senate Democrats would reject Gonzales, I would gain a shred of respect for them.
 But that won't happen.

They don't care that Bush lied us into a bloody war just to enrich his selfish ass.
They don't care that Bush has killed 1342 soldiers.
They don't care that Bush has killed 100,000 cilvilians
They don't care that Bush has plans to invade Iran and Syria and who the fuck knows who else.

I'm so tired of being handjobbed by the senate Democrats.
I'm so tired of hearing the senate Democrats swear they're fighting for you and me while they blow Bush.

 Madness in Iraq continues unabated

Sometimes, [soldiers] say, they fire on vehicles encroaching with [in] 30 metres,
sometimes they fire at 20 metres. "The Economist account quotes a" bullish lieutenant"

 Subject: marijuana

 Bart,

Marijuana was made illegal in the 1930's through the corporate efforts of Dupont.

Dupont had just invented nylon and wanted the US Navy rope contract. But rope at the time was made
with the much cheaper hemp. So Dupont went after hemp by attacking marijuana. Not only did they engage
in intensive government lobbying, but they also launched a massive publicity attack against marijuana.

Dupont produced and distributed the film "Reefer Madness" in order to scare public opinion against pot.
It all worked. Marijauna was made illegal and Dupont got its rope contract. What's more interesting is the US is
the only country in the world to not make use of industrial hemp, whose uses range from paper pulp to medicine.

When a mistake is not admitted it becomes a failure.
Obviously this country's drug laws are full of mistakes especially the ones regulating marijuana.

 Keep swingin' the hammer.
