Bush's
'Happy Thoughts' Death Trap
by Robert Parry at consortiumnews.com
Excerpt:
A macabre "Peter Pan" syndrome has driven the Iraq War from the start, with Bush and
his neoconservative advisers acting as if happy thoughts about an easy victory and some
pixie dust of propaganda would let them soar over the realities on the ground. This wishful
thinking has turned Iraq into a death trap for American troops and tens of thousands of Iraqis.
Rather than look at the military prospects realistically, Bush and his advisers pursued a consistent
policy of wishful thinking, deceiving the American public about the war's cost in both money and blood,
and ultimately deluding even themselves.
Reality was banished not only from the pre-war WMD justifications, it's been barred from
mid-war assessments, too. But the hard truth - recognized from the start by many military experts
- was that U.S. chances for prevailing in Iraq were never very good and certainly would come at a high price.

GOP lawmaker calls for Iraq pullout
Excerpt:
"When I look at the number of men and women who have been killed -- it's almost over 1,700 now,
in addition to close to 12,000 have been severely wounded -- and I just feel that the reason of going in
for WMDs, the ability of the Iraqis to make a nuclear weapon, that's all been proven that it was never there,"
Rep. Walter Jones of North Carolina said on ABC's "This Week."
Just like Vietnam, the tide is starting to turn. The question is, how many thousands of soldiers
will we lose because the always-faithfull GOP will stand with Bush while the scared-to-death
Democrats are afraid to speak.
You're heard it here a hundred times, we have to depend on the GOP to change this country
because the Democrats can't summon the courage. As time drags on, as hundreds more soldiers
are shipped home in body bags, the GOP will increasingly call for an end to Bush's nightmare.
If the scared-bunny, pink-tutu Democrats could somehow summon some courage, they could
save hundreds or thousands of lives, but asking a Democrat to come up with some courage is
like asking Antartica to come up with some fresh Bixby corn - it just ain't gonna happen.

Subject: Why Kerry got his ass kicked
To put it simply, because "anybody but Bush" was insufficient as a campaign theme.
It makes people ask the question, "ANYBODY but Bush? How about a Flat Stanley cutout?
Is that better than Bush?" If John Kerry showed even 1/10 of the fighting spirit Howard Dean had,
he would have mopped the floor with that idiot fake Texan from Connecticut.
I probably disagree, but you know me - not one to argue.
Bush was a total moron who ruined a great economy and lied us into a war and pretty much
turned Clinton's Paradise into Bush's Hell and Kerry decided answering the Swift Boat liars
wasn't necessary and then he took the summer off and told his convention to "play nice."
That's why the Republicans are shitting-in-their-pants terrified of our new DNC chairman,
and will do whatever they have to do to take the wind out of his sails (it ain't working), whereas
if we had a Kerryite in there, they'd just laugh and get on with their business of destroying America.
I agree 100 percent with that.
If Dean was a mindless buffoon, Unka Dick wouldn't be attacking him.

A former chief economist in the Labor Department during Bush's first term now believes
the official story about the collapse of the WTC is 'bogus,' saying it is more likely that a

"It is hard to exaggerate the importance of a scientific debate over the cause(s) of the collapse

"Only professional demolition appears to account for the full range of facts associated with the

Dwick, my position on torture is widely misunderstood.
I am totally against torture in 99 percent of all cases.
Only in the "perfect storm" sense would I green light torture.
The argument I have is with the "never" folks, the folks who would

Poll: USA is losing patience on Iraq
Excerpt:
Nearly six in 10 Americans say Bush should withdraw some or all of its troops from his quagmire,
a new Gallup Poll finds, the most downbeatrealistic view of the war since it began in 2003.
Patience for the war has dropped sharply as optimism has ebbed and violence against U.S. troops
hasn't abated. For the first time, a majority would be "upset" if President Pigheaded sent more troops.
A new low, 36%, say troop levels should be maintained or increased.
The souring of public opinion presents challenges for the president, who has vowed to stay the course
because he thinks changing one's mind shows weakness.

No beheadings in Iraq lately?
What could explain this lack of barbarism?
Zarqawi had a change of heart and wants to play nice?
Not likely. These religio-crazies never come back from Handjob City.
Zarqawi has been unable to catch any more civilian contractors?
Not likely. There are what, 200,000 Westerners in Iraq, spread out over
100 cities and Zarqawi can't manage to grab a single one in all these months?
Zarqawi realized that beheadings were becoming common, and no longer
had the power to shock and strike terror into Western hearts?
Not likely. I got creeped out every time one occured, and I'm a big, strong man.
I'm so creeped out, I never clicked on the beheader-cam to see what happened..
Does it seem odd that Zarqawi never beheaded a soldier?
It seems damn odd to me that Zarqawi would want to murder people who were
there to provide phone service and build water plants, but not soldiers with guns.
It seems like Zarqawi got orders to stop the executions, isn't that rather obvious?

Officers: Military can't end Iraq insurgency
The solution will have to come through the political process
Excerpt:
BAGHDAD - A growing number of senior American military officers in Iraq have concluded
there is no long-term military solution to an insurgency that has killed thousands of Iraqis and
more than 1,300 (Liars, the number is at least 1700) U.S. troops in the last two years.
Instead, officers say, the only way to end the guerrilla war is through Iraqi politics - an arena
that has been crippled by divisions between Shiite Muslims and Sunni Muslims, who are a
minority in Iraq and form the base of support for the insurgency.
"I think the more accurate way to approach this right now is to concede that... this insurgency
is not going to be settled through military options or military operations," Brig. Gen. Donald Alston,
the chief U.S. military spokesman in Iraq, said last week, echoing other senior officers.
"It's going to be settled in the political process."
But Bush the Murder Monkey doesn't know how to settle anything politically.
His foreign policy consists of "We'll go it alone" and"Kill, kill, kill."

Michael Jackson runs the "Not Guilty" table
Conservative jury tells D.A Sneddon to eat it with a big-ass spoon
My good friend Jeffrey Toobin said if MJ could get past Count Two, he'd be home free.
Count Two was the "Goodbye, Michael" Count.
By finding him not guilty on all ten counts, the all-white jury seemed to be saying to extra-eager Sneddon,
"Why did you bother to bring charges against this man with no better evidence than this?"
I was shocked and surprised.
I would've bet they were going to hang him.

Michael Jackson looks to rebuild career
Excerpt:
Now that Michael Jackson has been cleared of child molestation charges, the next
big question is whether he can rebuild a shattered career and work his way out of deep debt.
Experts in image management and the music industry say Jackson could make a modest
comeback singing the hits that made him famous, especially in Europe and Asia.
Whatever Jackson does next, he added, especially if it's soon, will "get enormous attention,"
Kragen said, adding, "The best thing for him to do would be something that's unexpected."
I have just the remedy for MJ, it was in a BCR radio show that's over a year old.
The answer? Pretend you can sing and hire a band and go into show business.
Michael should hire a 5-piece rock band, practice up on 20 songs and go on tour.
Don't play Prague, Antwerp, Quito, Minsk, Pyoungyang or Kongsvinger.
Play Albuquerque, OKC, Tulsa, Shreveport, Littls Rock - you know, normal places.
No circus clowns,

no string of black limos,
no 200-piece orchestra,
no lotteries for tickets,
no bullshit.
First thing you gotta do, Michael, is undo the decades of horseshit you built for yourself.
Convince people you're from Planet Earth and trust me, you've taken a BIG first step.
Just get out there and act like a human being who wrote some good songs and f-ing sing them.
