The Power
of Nightmares

Excerpt:
Instead of delivering dreams, politicians now
promise to protect us from nightmares.
They say that they will rescue us from dreadful
dangers that we cannot understand.
And the greatest danger of all is international
terrorism. A powerful and sinister network,
with sleeper cells in countries across the world.
A threat that needs to be fought by a war
on terror. But much of this threat is a fantasy,
which has been exaggerated and distorted
by politicians. It's a dark illusion that has spread
unquestioned through governments around
the world, the security services, and the international
media.
This is a series of films about how and why that
fantasy was created, and who it benefits.
At the heart of the story are two groups: the American
neoconservatives, and the radical Islamists.
With the attacks of September 11th, the fates of
both dramatically changed. The Islamists, after their
moment of triumph, were virtually destroyed within
months, while the neoconservatives took power in
Washington. But then, the neoconservatives began
to reconstruct the Islamists. They created a phantom enemy.
If you only have time to watch one of these, watch The Shadows in
the Cave.
Then ask yourself, "Was the Al Qaeda boogeyman
fabricated to scare us?"

Saddam's
top lawyer quits
Says US "helping too much" with Saddam's case
Excerpt:
Saddam's chief lawyer quit Thursday, saying Americans
were trying to control
the defense and tone down his criticism of the
U.S. presence in Iraq.
Some American lawyers in the defense team want
to take control of it and isolate
their Arab counterparts,'' said Siad al-Khasawneh,
an Arab nationalist who has often
expressed support for Iraqi resistance.
So, Saddam can't go to trial unless it's fixed
ahead of time? If Saddam was
10 percent the monster Bush made him out to be,
why do we need to fix the trial?
First we invade a country that wasn't a threat, then we murder the ruler's
sons,
then we capture the ruler and now we're fixing his trial to make him look
guilty?
What if Saddam testifies who sold him that poison gas he used on the
Kurds?

Subject: London situation
Since we know that Bush wants to invade Iran next,
one thing we can predict with near
certainty is that government reports on the London
transportation attacks will be linking it
with "known Iranian militants" or some such thing. Don't
be surprised if a slightly charred
Iranian passport is found near the bus explosion,
or a "How To" manual written in Farsi is
found in a flat formally occupied by Middle Eastern
types, or that a map of the London
Underground marked with three "X's" is found in
a rental car in a downtown carpark.
Since we all know how this Bush fantasy is supposed
to end, its easy as pie
for any of us to write the rest of the script.

Army investigators began looking into concerns
Wednesday that the California National Guard
was engaging in domestic spying as a state senator
looking into the matter charged the federal
probe was being used to block his own inquiry.
One day after being denied access to a Guard computer
that had its hard drive wiped clean,
Sen. Joe Dunn said he would seek legislative subpoenas
today to gain access to the information
central to his investigation and lashed out at
military officials standing in his way.
Dunn launched his investigation last week after
the Mercury News reported on the creation of a
new National Guard intelligence unit that has been
given "broad authority" to set up new
anti-terrorism projects in California.
"If they continue in what I refer to as bunker mentality
here, it simply confirms to us that our
worst suspicions may in fact be true," Dunn said.
With the BFEE in a worldwide power grab, assume
your worst suspicions are true.

Who ordered
the hit on London?
Bush has told us 1,000 times,
"We fight them there so we don't have to
fight them here."
Had they struck in the US, it would have made Bush look stupid.
Whoever ordered the hit on London does not want Bush to look
stupid.
At a time when support for Bush's bloody invasion is waning,
this is just the boost they need for people to say, "Maybe
Bush is right."
If you look at 9-11,
if you look at the war of confusion, chaos and unaccountability,
if you look at the hit on London - it all helps one evil empire.

Notorious B.I.G.
mistrial declared
LAPD "forgot" to give serious evidence to the defense
Excerpt:
The judge is set to declare a mistrial in a civil
lawsuit into the killing of Notorious BIG,
bartcop.com has learned. Last
week, documents emerged suggesting an informant
had claimed to be able to link a police officer
to the killing. Police who handed over the
documents had failed to mention them to the plaintiffs
in the lawsuit, which opened June 21.
On Tuesday, the family called for the trial to
be shelved and for sanctions to be brought
against the city of Los Angeles, in the wake of
the new information emerging. Wallace's family
was suing Los Angeles and the LAPD, alleging that
LAPD officer David Mack likely played
a role in the killing. The policeman cited
by the informer was a team mate of Mack's.
Inquiries by the LAPD inquiry and the FBI failed
to produce results.

When crooks investigate themselves, they are "unable" to

A federal judge has ordered the city and LAPD
to pay Notorious B.I.G.'s family "fees and costs
incurred as a result of defendants' misconduct" in
the family's wrongful death lawsuit. Judge Cooper
declared a mistrial in the case, rejecting the
city's argument that LAPD Detective Steven Katz had
forgotten about documents in his desk drawer
until his office was searched last month. Cooper said
the LAPD still has not turned over
other files to the plaintiffs, including about 15 personnel complaint
investigations into Mack.
Plaintiff's attorney Perry Sanders Jr. said the
family would refile the suit, but he didn't know when.
It is expected to accuse the LAPD of racketeering
and to name Perez as a defendant.
I think it's time the LAPD wrote the Wallace family
a check ro make this go away.

You knew it was coming, didn't you? That's right

weak on terrorism. Sadly, it is a tactic that continues
to emasculate many Democrats, who still
can't seem to find the guts to stand up to this
nonsense.
Exhibit A is this morning's Wall Street Journal

talking points from the RNC. There James

that "an attack on a much worse scale happened

UK
Live8 was amazing. There were no commercials because
it was on the BBC.
I think the highlight of the concert for a lot
of people was Pink Floyd's set.
We wouldn't know - we live in America.
The act who got the most derision was Mariah Carey
singing with the little
African children - Brits don't like that sort of
thing - too sentimental.
Paul McCartney was meant to open by himself (!) but
Bono threw his toys out of
the pram and said that he had done more for the
cause and surely he should go first.
Bono is a great musician but a bit of a prima
donna.
(withheld)
I guess after Scott Peterson and Paris Hilton,
Bono is the third most hated person in the universe.
This was Bono's gig, and he had the nerve to want to be involved?
Has anybody even heard the name "Bob Geldof" in the last 20 years?
Did McCartney spend the last decade using his time and money to help Africa?
The way I heard it (none of us was there)
McCartney demanded that he should be
the one to open and close the show or the starving Africas could do
without him.
Paul is on rock's Mount Rushmore, but has he had a hit in the last 25 years?
And how did Hey Jude become the anthem of the ages?
Was it because even coked-up musicians can remember the chorus?
Do they write "Nah nah nah nah" on
one hand and "Hey Jude" on the other?
Bono's One fit the message of the day twenty times better than Hey
Jude.

Do they really
find humor in this disease?

Excerpt:
I have recently been informed that the new movie, "Bewitched",
with Nicole Kidman,
has a scene in it where a lecherous older character
was coming on to young things at a party.
A jealous older witch he had taken up with was
making the younger ones say things to turn off
the older character. One of the cute little
blonds apparently blurts out "I have Hepatitis C".
Of course he was taken aback, his mouth dropped open
and he turned away.
I dont know how many people will view this movie,
but the impression they will come away
with is that Hep C is primarily sexually transmitted. The
fact of the matter is, you have less than
a 2% chance of contracting Hep C through sexual
contact. Even then, it has to be under certain
circumstances.

thousands killed and wounded on both sides,
and the United States' reputation around the world
in shambles, what it's really about is standing
at the state Capitol on March 19, the second anniversary
of the invasion of Iraq, with the mother
of Marine Cpl. Matt Henderson, who died May 26,
2004, in a war that did not need to be fought.
It's about standing in the cold with Becky Henderson
that morning and not having anything to say
to this mother about the senseless loss of her
son's life. And if ever there was an offense worthy
of impeachment, that should be it."

certainly come at an opportune time.
Dear Leader is lagging in the polls, what with
the unpopularity of the war, economy, etc.,

The perpetrators have been named as Al Queda, but
how do we know the Anarchists didn't do

an intelligence agency placed the bomb?
