Iraq --
U.S. News Media's Waterloo
by Robert Parry as seen on Consortiumnews.com
Link
Excerpt:
For three decades, the Washington press corps
has been living off its Watergate reputation as spunky
defenders of the public's right to know and the
U.S. Constitution. On this third anniversary of Bush's
invasion of Iraq, it's now clear that the bloody
conflict -- started amid a war fever fueled by false press
reports on Iraq's WMD -- was the Waterloo, a
crushing defeat, for the media's beloved Watergate myth.
The American people must now face the challenge
of building a new more independent press

Bush Didn't
Bungle Iraq
He really did accomplish his mission
Link
Excerpt:
Don't kid yourself -- Bush and Cheney accomplished
exactly
what they set out to do.
In case you've forgotten what their real mission
was, let me remind you of Ari Fleisher's
original announcement, three years ago, launching
of what he called,
"Operation Iraqi Liberation."
How cute.
Then, Karl Rove made them change it to "OIF"
-- Operation Iraqi Freedom.
But the 101st Airborne wasn't sent to Basra to
get its hands on Iraq's OIF.

Bush "confident'
about quagmire
Link
Excerpt:
America's Murder Monkey on Monday cited success
in stabilizing an insurgent stronghold in Iraq,
saying he has "confidence in our strategy" and
critics should look beyond the thousands dead to see progress.
Bush tried a new tactic to boost sagging support
for the quagmire, telling a story about a campaign to rid
Tal Afar of terrorism against civilians. Success
there "gives reason for hope for a free Iraq," he said.
Bush said some insurgents have been killed or
captured by Iraqi and US soldiers.
Bush meant to underscore another point the White
House is trying to make: evidence of progress
is more difficult than daily bombings and deaths
to capture in media sound bites.
Let's hear it for George W. Bush!
After three long and bloody years, our
trained Monkey and his Dick have managed to find
a city, or a town, or a neighborhood called Tal
Afar that they've been able to overrun and secure.
...and they call that a success?
It's the same handjob we've gotten about "capturing
the third-ranking al Qaeda," who nobody ever
heard of and, in fact, might be a nothing more
than a made up name to make the whore press drool.
Hey Monkey, if you want to impress us, capture
and secure a city we've heard of,
like Baghdad, Tikrit, Basra or Fallujah.

It's not
a 'War'
Link
Excerpt:
Bush marked the anniversary of his bloody quagmire
Sunday by touting the efforts to build democracy there
and avoiding any mention of the daily violence
that rages three years after he ordered an invasion.
"We are implementing a strategy that will lead
to victory in Iraq," the president lied.
The president didn't utter the word "war."

"Yesterday marked three years of war in Iraq

anniversary of the beginning of the
liberation of Iraq. Bush's avoidance of the word "war" in the
context of Iraq is the rule, not the
exception. In the carefully chosen lexicon of White House

Subject: Voting for Nader in
2000
Anybody voting for Nader in 2000 (myself included)
did so because they did NOT want to vote for Gore or Bush.
They all knew Nader wasn't going to win but still
voted for him.
Dude, Bush is really happy you refused
to vote for Gore.
Votes like that put Bush in a position to ruin
the world.
I didn't vote for Gore because he didn't separate
himself from Clinton.
Are you sure you were paying attention?
Gore DID seperate himself from Clinton - and
that's a huge reason he lost.
He even picked that fuck Lieberman to PROVE he
was getting away from Clinton
because Liebermen was Clinton's strongest Democratic
critic.
I know you always compare Clinton's "Monica incident"
with Bush lying about starting a war,
but I was really disappointed with Clinton.
If he had screwed every intern in the white house
I would have thought, "WOW he can't keep his
pants on." That would have been the end of it.
But no - he comes on prime time TV and says, "I
did not have sexual relations with that woman."
Then when it comes out that he did have relations
with her - HE IS NOW A LIAR.
He threw it all out the window with that lie.
His integrity disappeared in a flash.
You're entitiled to your opinion, but I won't let you change the facts.
Clinton is a lawyer - he knew exactly what words he was using.
DC law defines "sexual relations" as intercourse, and they
never did that.
Monica called Clinton "that big creep"
because he refused to have sexual realtions with her.
You can scream "picky, picky" all you want, but if I drive my car from
Tulsa to Tacoma,
and you ask me, "Have you ever been to Seattle?"
the factual answer is "No."
I don't owe anyone a long-ass explanation about how close I got
to Seattle without ever
actually having set foot inside the city limits. The answer is just
plain "No."
Now we have 2318 dead soldiers, 11 trillion missing dollars and a never-ending
world war because
over 550 Floridia Democrats thought that Clinton lied about "sexual
relations" with a woman.
Lastly, have YOU ever lied about sex?
If some crazy asshole with unlimited time and money visited every friend,
co-worker, relative and
neighbor of yours and threatened them with dying in prison unless they
gave up some dirt on you,
would you come out squeaky clean? Or would someone
say, "JAMES IS NOW A LIAR?"
Nothing personal, just showing you a mirror.

America's
Blinders
Link
Excerpt:
Now that most Americans no longer believe in
the war, now that they no longer trust Bush,
now that the evidence of deception has become
overwhelming, we might ask:
How come so many people were so easily fooled?
The question might help us understand why Americans
rushed to declare their support as
the President was sending troops halfway around
the world to Iraq.
One example is the way the press reacted to Powell's
UN presentation, a speech which may have
set a record for the number of falsehoods told
in one talk. In it, Powell confidently rattled off his "evidence":
satellite photographs, audio records, reports
from informants, with precise statistics on how many gallons
of this and that existed for chemical warfare.
The New York Times was breathless with admiration.
The Washington Post editorial was titled "Irrefutable"
and declared that after Powell's talk "it is hard to
imagine how anyone could doubt that Iraq possesses
weapons of mass destruction."
Yep, that's the "ultra-liberal" New York Whore Times and the
"ultra-liberal"
Washington Whore Post, beating war drums for their main man
George.

Some TV

Link
Excerpt:
Could Oprah and General Hospital
be bad for your brain?
New research suggests that elderly women who watch
daytime soap operas and talk shows
are more likely to suffer from cognitive impairment
than women who abstain from such fare.
Women who watched talk shows were 7.3 times more
likely to have long-term memory problems.
Those who watched soap operas were 13.5 times
more likely to have problems with attention.
The researchers didn't find any evidence that
TV shows helped improve cognitive abilities in the women studied, either.
What's going on? The study can't and doesn't answer
that question, Fogel said, leaving it unclear if a preference
for soaps and talk shows is a cause of cognitive
difficulties or a symptom. "One possibility is that people are unable
to watch smarter shows because they're too cognitively
stimulating for a weak mind," Fogel said.
I guess this shows why stupid people tend to watch

Subject: Bart - Bush confusion
Bart, you wrote,
<<Craig, I don't attack a position if
it makes sense.
<<And those who see me as Bush's clone
are on the extreme left.
<<How else could they confuse me with
Bush?
Lets see Bart, you advocated torturing, "The Certainly
Guilty"...So does Bush.
That makes you and Bush on the same side, Pro-Illegal
Torture!
See Bart, The Geneva Conventions, PROHIBIT TORTURE.
Even with
"The Certainly Guilty".
Like I mentioned before, The Church used to torture,
"The Certainly Guilty Witches".
Who turned out not to be, "Certainly Guilty",
after all...
Too bad you did not understand this analogy, too
bad about your I.Q. problem.
Then there's Hillarys support of the war...She
wants to do Syria & Iran too!
So, if you support Hillary, then you support
her positions...PRO-WAR!!
Best Regards Tortureboy...
Rob Mahon
Rob, sometimes you can be such a monkey.
OK, let's argue on your terms for a minute.
Let's assume "breaking the law" is "breaking the law."
Let's say you have a five year old daughter who falls thru a glass
door and she's bleeding out.
There's no time to wait for an ambulance and the hospital is
at least ten miles away.
The speed limit to the hospital is 25 MPH, but you're certain
your daughter will die if you
stick to your guns and decide that it's important to obey all
the laws all the time.
I believe that in the most extreme of circumstances, you do what
you gotta do.
You, apparently, would let your daughter die before you'd break traffic
laws,
however my daughter would survive because I'd do anything
to save her.
However one feels about this subject, isn't that the primary reason
Bush "won" in 2004?
Because people felt he'd "break the speed limit" while Kerry would
let his daughter, or New York,
ot the nation die, because he'd nuance every issue to death instead
of taking bold action?
Meanwhile, Bush tortures every darkie he can find, just for the fun
of it, and you see us as twins.
Truth is, we'd BOTH break the law to save our daughter, but one of us
is lying to himself.

Subject: Hillary opinions
Bart (and Jimmy),
Hillary Clinton, ever the pragmatic political
tool that she is, cannot possibly deliver as a president.
That's known as a gratuitious assertion..
Instead of using her term as an elected senator
of New York to spearhead meaningful resistance NOW
against the most fetid administration in US history,
she's trading in political capital by not making waves
and refusing to rock an already sinking boat.
This has happened time and time again, on issue after issue,
and it has been sickening to witness.
I have a different opinion, probably because I'm
"stupid."
Instead of morphing into Cindy Sheehan, Jane
Fonda and Code Pink overnight, she's methodically
and strategically taking steps that will put
her in the Oval Office so she can rid America of the BFEE.
To give someone a pass as a senator in the hopes
that he or she will make amends as a future president
is nothing less than to express contempt for
democracy and utter disregard for people's lives that are
being ruined as we speak. It also reeks of moral
relativism of the lowest order.
I have a different opinion, probably because I'm
a "closet Republican."
To attempt to force a candidate to become Dukakis,
Mondale and Carter is political suicide.
It's the same mistake our party makes again and
again and we wonder why we lose 49 states.
I also despair of the fact that you constantly
denigrate alternative candidates and the minority
of people who have made conscious and civic-minded
decisions to support those candidates.
I despair at the thought of losing again
to the Murder Monkeys who
are destroying our lives
I've promised to support the Democratic nominee
- have you?
Has Molly? Has Arianna? Has Nader?
The fractures developing within American society
are far deeper than the nominal and quite insignificant
fissures that exist between the Republican and
Democratic parties - who actually accomplish more for ill
by acting in concert than the majority of Americans
are willing to admit.
Sincerely,
NJ
You see two parties acting in concert.
I see vicious wolves eating the clueless sheep.
You say it's about "all that."
I say it's about winning instead of losing.
I'm tired of losing.
Once we take power from the monsters, I'll help with change,
but as long as America and the world are run by fascist bastards -
we need to win.

Subject: water wars
Bart, Peak oil is the reason behind water wars.
This will create the greater impact on water
shortage than anything.
Well, people who walk and ride bikes need fresh
water, too.
If you're not aware of the oil consumption out
of control and the looming crisis, its only because Perkel and I
have continued to try to tell you this but you
only find out the hard way, by reading some violent script in Mexico.
I understand the concept of Peak Oil, but I don't
think we're there just yet.
When we get close to Peak Oil, it will cost a
lot more than $61
per barrel.

Will the new world design be in South America?
Whatever, you don't travel into the future.

Why Bush is a loser, by Andrew Sullivan
Link
Excerpt:
There is no shortage of theories to explain the
seemingly growing dysfunction in the Bush administration.
I don't mean by this the flawed structural decisions,
I mean the daily decisions that can so easily derail any government.
Here are a few. Bush was given clear warning about
Katrina, yet wasted days before he took any real action.
He nominated an unqualified servant for the Supreme
Court — and infuriated his base before picking someone else.
He so botched his prescription drug plan that
the elderly are just itching to go to the polls to vote Democrat.
Andrew, Bush has never done any thinking in his life.
He's always had everything handed to him.

Subject: Why not outsource Secret
Service, too?
Congress now has an additional 45 days with which
to thoroughly investigate
and evaluate the port security deal arranged
with the United Arab Emirates.
Despite many questions about how secure our ports
will be under this deal, Bush continues to pledge
that it is a good program for the U.S. and that
our ports will be in very secure hands with a Dubai company
owned by the United Arab Emirates. He is so confident
in the plan that he knew nothing about until very
recently and that he has pledged to veto any
attempts to alter or nullify the original deal.
I think the American people would have much greater
confidence in the president's assurances if he
would fire the Secret Service and hire this same
company to personally protect him and his family.
I am certain there are unemployed Muslim jihadists
who would jump at the opportunity to come to
this country and provide security for our president.
Outsourcing this job category to a foreign country
would be in line with his administration's policies
to do so with other fields of employment.

How To Steal

Excerpt:
It's easier to rig an electronic voting machine
than a Las Vegas slot machine, says UPenn professor Steve Freeman.
That's because Vegas slots are better monitored
and regulated than America's voting machines
President Bush may owe his 2004 win to an unfair
vote count.
We talked about this a while back.
Those progressive slot machines that are connected to other casinoes*
- they are monitored,
they are checked, they are regulated and you can bet your hosue they
have a paper trail.
But the Democrats are happy with losing elections.
They don't insist on an accurate count, so 5-point leads turn to 2-point
losses on election day.
If they want to commit suicide, should we be asked to
pay for it?

Not a dime for the Democrats until AFTER they start fighting back. (Wes

calling Iraq war opponents extreme leftists?
Bill O'Reilly, like every Republican, wants to
destroy any opposition to Bush.
I want the bastard driven from office and put

Can you see the difference between O'Reilly and

Nobody is saying that you are a clone of Bush,
...neither do we say that Bush is a clone of Hitler.
Ten seconds ago, you asked how I was different
from O'Reilly,
now you say nobody is making that comparison?
Bush merely uses a lot of the same tactics that
Hitler did.
Similarly, you use a lot of the same tactics
as people like Bush and O'Reilly, among them,
knocking down strawmen like, "Some people say
I'm a clone of Bush."
Funny, when saying "Nobody calls you a Bush
clone," you
accuse me of O'Reilly behavior.
I guess I need to punish my lying eyes, cause you said no such thing,

As Bush's quagmire enters Year Four, an alarming

Saddam was personally involved in the 9/11 attacks.
Shortly before the war began, 51 per cent held

29% are sure and another 28% think the weapons were there,

Subject: Peggy Noonan
Hi Bart,
It seems that Noonan is beginning the newest
republican campain talking point--that W is a LIBERAL,
not a real conservative. This is what the
repugs will use to distance themselves from a very unpopular president.
And it is what they will use to tar all the dems--they
are spend-crazy liberals just like bush.
I have heard this liberal labelling of bush pop
up on hannity already also. They say Bush is a liberal just like
the dems, so we'll need to elect a true conservative
to fix this "liberal's" mess. Expect to hear a lot more of
it.
Will it fly with the public? Will it matter
with Diebold running the election?
These power-crazed right wing nut cases will
stoop to anything to keep power.
