The Bush-Bin Laden Symbiosis
   by Robert Parry

 consortiumnews.com

 Excerpt:
As Americans suffer through another terrorism scare and Bush talks tough about a long war
against "Islamic fascists," it bears remembering that top CIA analysts concluded that Osama
released a videotape right before Election 2004 to help Bush win a second term.

Democrats have focused on allegations of Republican voter suppression and vote tampering,
especially in Ohio. But polls suggest that a more decisive factor in Bush's narrow victory in 2004
was the reaction of the American people to bin Laden's last-minute tirade against Bush.

Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary
symbiosis -  a cooperative relationship (as between two persons or groups)

Osama has done more for Bush than Lennon did for McCartney.

British: Thwarted plot involved 10 jets
This, from the "Saddam can hit us in in 45 minutes" people?

 Yahoonews.com

 Excerpt:
British police said Thursday they thwarted a terrorist plot, possibly just days away, to blow up
U.S.-bound jetliners over the Atlantic and kill thousands. Chilling accounts leaked by investigators
described a plan on the scale of Sept. 11 that would use liquid explosives concealed as everyday
carry-on items and common electronic devices to bring down 10 planes in a nearly simultaneous strike.

The bombs were to be assembled on the aircraft apparently using a liquid explosive - most likely
peroxide - and detonated by such devices as a disposable camera or a music player, two US officials said.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because Britain asked that no information be released.

Why would "British police" be handling this?
"Possibly just days away" tells us they didn't find any actual airplane tickets.
"Chilling accounts" described "a plan" for downing ten planes.
Is this any more substantial than the homeless Miami seven?
It gets Lamont off the front pages and moves attention away from Iraq.
How long have they been sitting on this "could be just days away" topic changer?

Using terror for political gain AGAIN

The world's most proloific killer seized on a possibly-real foiled bomb plot
to hammer unnamed critics he accused of having all but forgotten the 9-11.

Running from the realities of lamont's victory, and weighed down by his bloody quagmire,
Bush and his aides have tried to shift the national political debate from that ultimate fiasco
to the more popular global war on terrorism ahead of dreaded November elections.

Yeah, that's why I like her.
She's not going to lay down like the last two "warriors" we sent into battle.

Are you trying to suggest Hillary lacks corporate backers?

No, and what an odd question.
One can't win without corporate backers.
Show me a "No contributions more than $100" guy
and I'll show you a failed candidate for president.

Hell, Rupert Murdoch hosted a fundraiser in her honor and weeks afterward
the closerthanthis couple were spotted dining together in New York.

Holy Christ - they had dinner?
That tears it.
I'm joining Team Kucinich today!
Rupert's getting rolled, Dude.

Furthermore, her whore of a husband endorsed Lieberman.
Nuff said.

Reagan architect: "Screw this GOP"
"Withhold money, stop calling yourself 'Republican' "

 worldnetwhores.com

 Excerpt:
Richard Viguerie, ane of the architects of the Reagan Revolution, says it's time for radical action
to save the Republican Party from itself. His plan includes the following actions, which would spell
bad news for the Fascist bastsrds in the 2006 midterms and in the 2008 presidential election:

* Withhold financial support from Republican committees and most Republican incumbents.
* Withhold support from all 2008 presidential candidates.
* No longer call yourself "a Republican" but rather a Reagan Republican or a Reagan conservative.
* And work for wholesale change in Republican leadership.

Cool.
If the Democrats had half a sac (Should I bother to finish this sentence?) they'd work tomake
"Republican" synonymous with Bush's bloody failure of a presidency, but they won't because
"that wouldn't be fair" and they hate not being nice to the Murder Monkey.

Subject: call me a cynic

Bart, I believe the reason so many Dems voted for the war is because they didn't
want to be caught on the "wrong" side, as so many of them were during Gulf War One.

Besides, they figured, if the whole thing turns to shit, it'll all be Bush's fault.
So why stick your neck out?

Peter

Good point.
No way this is the Democrat's war, this is the BFEE all the way.

Lieberman might still be with us if he wasn't such a liar, claiming,

Subject: Rock Star: Supernova

Agree with you on this show. which is my favorite show, I like it better than American Idol,
but both shows seem to have contestants who ignore the advice from the judges.

Idol makes those poor kids sing show tunes and fifties songs.
Idol should be laughed at as a lame Lawrence Welk clone, but America is full of sadists
who want to see Simon crush a young, wide-eyed  hopeful in the meanest terms possible.

On Supernova, after the girl sang, I told my brother, (we're old) who was watching with me,
that the next two will have to be really dreadful if they can't beat her.  So what does Josh do?
He brings out his guitar, after being told several times, both nights, not to use it.

Kids today - what's wrong with them?
They can't even rebel against The Man, anymore.

We figured the only way he could win using the guitar was if he played a mean lead or
went wild and smashed it--he did neither. Then the last contestant came out and we agreed
that the only way he could lose was if he fell off the stage--which he almost did.

We were sure, because of the guitar, Josh would go, but hated to see the girl stay
--we were very pleased and surprised he picked both to go.
I like Dilana, but Lukas is good, and the guy from Iceland, Magni.

After I read Hugh Hewitt's piece attacking Ned Lamont for integrating his campaign, the answer

committee chairs when the Democrats take the House. The thought of brown people with that
much power scares the living hell out of you.

 Excerpt:
"...the White House has convened a series of meetings over the past few months with leaders
of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), a newly formed political organization that tells its members
that supporting Israel's expansionist policies is "a biblical imperative." CUFI's Washington lobbyist,
David Brog, told me that during the meetings, CUFI representatives pressed White House officials
to adopt a more confrontational posture toward Iran, refuse aid to the Palestinians and give Israel
a free hand as it ramped up its military conflict with Hezbollah...But CUFI has more on its agenda
than simply "supporting Israel." Its founder and president, Pastor John Hagee, is determined to see
America and Israel adopt his Armageddon-based worldview as their foreign policy."

Subject: Al Franken

I like Al Franken too and so many people forget that it was his first book
"Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot" that finally was the first Democratic strike back
at the Rethuglicans after years of them firing at will at our spineless leaders.

Al has gone to Iraq for several USO tours and has stood up for the Democrats when nobody would.
He's had a few positions I've disagreed with over the years (like not believing in the '04 election fraud
in Ohio) but he has consistently made the point and provided proof that the Republicans lie constantly
and just plain make things up.

Bush's Christian Zionism
 No wonder he's crazy...

 thenation.com

 Excerpt:
The White House has convened off-the-record meetings with Christians United for Israel (CUFI),
a religiously-insane organization that tells its members that Israel's expansion is "a biblical imperative."
CUFI's David Brog told me that they pressed White House officials to confront Iran, refuse aid to the
Palestinians and give Israel a free hand as it ramped up its military conflict with Hezbollah.

The White House instructed Brog not to reveal the names of officials he met with, Brog said.

CUFI's advice to Bush reflects the Armageddon-based views of  John Hagee. Hagee is a fake-ass
TV Bible-thumping scam artist who "knows" how the end times will unfold. He is also the author of
pulp-prophecy books, like Jerusalem Countdown, in which he cites unnamed Israeli intelligence
sources to claim that Iran is producing nuclear "suitcase bombs." The only way to defeat the Iranian
evildoers, he says, is a full-scale military assault.

"The coming nuclear showdown with Iran is a certainty," Hagee wrote

This nutty-ass shit is almost enough to send me back to the Church.
Almost.

Subject: "It's one thing to believe the CIA's top secret briefing."

Hey Bart, I forgave Hillary for "voting for the war".
I forgave Kerry, Edwards and all of the Senate Dems.

Your rationalization that they had to, based on the CIA briefing, makes for a plausible excuse.
I think that, deep down, you know that's only a cover. Or, maybe you do believe it.

Personally, I'm dead-bang sure that they cast that vote out of political expediency,
to cover their asses, to not look weak. In other words, they were afraid not to.
I didn't like it. But, given the circumstances, I can understand it. And I forgive them.

But I'll NEVER be convinced that ANY of them seriously believed that Saddam
had any possible way of attacking the continental US.   I'll just never buy that.
Keep up the great work.
 Dan L

Dan, would you feel differently if you were representing millions of people?

Lots of people write and say, "Bart, *I* knew Saddam was unarmed, why didn't they?"
That's easy for an unknown to say anonymously from behind a monitor,
but it's not as easy to gamble with millions of lives - other people's lives.

People who say, "Everybody knows Saddam was harmless"
are letting Bush the Liar, Bush the Deceiver, off the hook.

IF the CIA gave you their Nancy Grace Guarantee that Saddam could hit us, and you
failed to vote to stop him - and then he hit your constituents and thousands of them died,

...how would you start your apology speech to the families of the dead?

Bush gleeful over latest threats

 americablog.blogspot.com

 Excerpt:
Weeks before September 11th, this is going to play big," said another White House official,
who also spoke on condition of not being named, adding that some Democratic candidates
won't "look as appealing" under the circumstances. - AFP, August 11, 2006

Well that didn't take long. The Republicans never did meet a threat of mortal injury to
thousands of American lives that they didn't welcome as a political windfall.

This is a scathing piece and a brilliant example of what real journalists do.
They don't just parrot what the White House tells them, they actually investigate
and report the facts. Our American brethren could learn a thing or two:

America no longer has a free press.
We have to look oberseas or to the blogs to get whatever facts are available.

It's stunning how patronizing Joe Lieberman (I- Me) is.
I guess the people of Connecticut don't know how to vote for themselves.
Good thing Sanctimonious Joe is there to protect them from their own minds.

He wouldn't know what the real people of this country want if it hit him in the face.
Ooh wait, it did - Tuesday night when he lost what he thought what his God-given seat in the Senate.

He spent the last part of his primary campaign asking Ned Lamont
if he was a Clinton-Democrat or a Sharpton-Democrat.

Well, Lieberman has proven himself just an ass.

Subject: Del Castillo

Dear Bart,

Although I've never written you before, I thought I would today.
Having only heard of Del Castillo thru your website, they opened for one of my
favorite bands, the Iguanas, last night at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland.

I'm a new convert: the double-guitar staccato, backed by the solid drums and
funky bass foundation, plus the percussion and great stage presence of the
lead singer was just amazing. These guys were real musicians and showmen in
everything they did. Their songs were tight, energy-filled, and the 70 or so people
who bothered to show up to see the show last night were quickly infected.
After the show, I thanked the lead singer for the show and mentioned your website:
he wanted to say thanks for the support.

I've regularly viewed your website since 2003, when I got hooked on it on a
suggestion from an instructor at Shasta College in Redding, CA.  Your website
has always helped keep my spirits up w/ its humor, pressure in the right spots,
and commentary, breaking thru the doom and gloom preached by the BFEE.

Hopefully, the upcoming overhaul of the Democratic Party this fall and in '08 will
also entail an ousting of the current fearmongering and victimized-feeling Republicans.
There might be hope yet for our democracy to set guidelines for corporate interests
instead of the current reversal of that.  Ohio needs to get back into the blue!

Thanks again!
Jeff in Cleveland
