The Bush-Bin
Laden Symbiosis
by Robert Parry
consortiumnews.com
Excerpt:
As Americans suffer through another terrorism
scare and Bush talks tough about a long war
against "Islamic fascists," it bears remembering
that top CIA analysts concluded that Osama
released a videotape right before Election 2004
to
help Bush win a second term.
Democrats have focused on allegations of Republican
voter suppression and vote tampering,
especially in Ohio. But polls suggest that a
more decisive factor in Bush's narrow victory in 2004
was the reaction of the American people to bin
Laden's last-minute tirade against Bush.

Thwarted plot involved 10 jets
This, from the "Saddam can hit us in in 45 minutes" people?
Yahoonews.com
Excerpt:
British police said
Thursday they thwarted a terrorist plot, possibly just days away, to blow
up
U.S.-bound jetliners over the Atlantic and kill
thousands. Chilling accounts leaked by investigators
described a plan on the scale of Sept. 11 that
would use liquid explosives concealed as everyday
carry-on items and common electronic devices
to bring down 10 planes in a nearly simultaneous strike.
The bombs were to be assembled on the aircraft
apparently using a liquid explosive - most likely
peroxide - and detonated by such devices as a
disposable camera or a music player, two US officials said.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity
because Britain asked that no information be released.
Why would "British police" be
handling this?
"Possibly just days away" tells
us they didn't find any actual airplane tickets.
"Chilling accounts" described
"a plan" for downing ten planes.
Is this any more substantial
than the homeless Miami seven?
It gets Lamont off the front
pages and moves attention away from Iraq.
How long
have they been sitting on this "could be just days away" topic changer?

No, and what an odd question.
One can't win without corporate backers.

"Withhold money, stop calling yourself 'Republican' "

Excerpt:
Richard Viguerie, ane of the architects of the
Reagan Revolution, says it's time for radical action
to save the Republican Party from itself. His
plan includes the following actions, which would spell
bad news for the Fascist bastsrds in the 2006
midterms and in the 2008 presidential election:
* Withhold financial support from Republican committees
and most Republican incumbents.
* Withhold support from all 2008 presidential
candidates.
* No longer call yourself "a Republican" but
rather a Reagan Republican or a Reagan conservative.
* And work for wholesale change in Republican
leadership.
Cool.
If the Democrats had half a sac (Should I bother to finish this

Bart, I believe the reason so many Dems voted
for the war is because they didn't
want to be caught on the "wrong" side, as so
many of them were during Gulf War One.
Besides, they figured, if the whole thing turns
to shit, it'll all be Bush's fault.
So why stick your neck out?

Good point.
No way this is the Democrat's war, this is the BFEE all the way.

Agree with you on this show. which is my favorite
show, I like it better than American Idol,
but both shows seem to have contestants who ignore
the advice from the judges.
Idol makes those poor kids sing
show tunes and fifties songs.
Idol
should be laughed at as a lame Lawrence Welk clone, but America is full
of sadists
who want to see Simon crush a young, wide-eyed
hopeful in the meanest terms possible.
On Supernova, after the girl sang, I told my brother,
(we're old) who was watching with me,
that the next two will have to be really dreadful
if they can't beat her. So what does Josh do?
He brings out his guitar, after being told several
times, both nights, not to use it.
Kids today - what's wrong with them?
They can't even rebel against The Man, anymore.
We figured the only way he could win using the
guitar was if he played a mean lead or
went wild and smashed it--he did neither. Then
the last contestant came out and we agreed
that the only way he could lose was if he fell
off the stage--which he almost did.
We were sure, because of the guitar, Josh would
go, but hated to see the girl stay
--we were very pleased and surprised he picked
both to go.

Your rationalization that they had to, based on
the CIA briefing, makes for a plausible excuse.
I think that, deep down, you know that's only
a cover. Or, maybe you do believe it.
Personally, I'm dead-bang sure that they cast
that vote out of political expediency,
to cover their asses, to not look weak. In other
words, they were afraid not to.
I didn't like it. But, given the circumstances,
I can understand it. And I forgive them.
But I'll NEVER be convinced that ANY of them seriously
believed that Saddam
had any possible way of attacking the continental
US. I'll just never buy that.
Keep up the great work.
Dan L
Dan, would you feel differently if you were representing millions of
people?
Lots of people write and say, "Bart, *I* knew
Saddam was unarmed, why didn't they?"
That's easy for an unknown to say anonymously from behind a monitor,
but it's not as easy to gamble with millions of lives - other people's
lives.
People who say, "Everybody knows Saddam was
harmless"
are letting Bush the Liar, Bush the Deceiver, off the hook.

Well that didn't take long. The Republicans never
did meet a threat of mortal injury to
thousands of American lives that they didn't
welcome as a political windfall.
This is a scathing piece and a brilliant example
of what real journalists do.
They don't just parrot what the White House tells
them, they actually investigate
and report the facts. Our American brethren could
learn a thing or two:
America no longer has a free press.
We have to look oberseas or to the blogs to get whatever facts are

Subject: Del Castillo
Dear Bart,
Although I've never written you before, I thought
I would today.
Having only heard of Del Castillo thru your website,
they opened for one of my
favorite bands, the Iguanas, last night at the
Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland.
I'm a new convert: the double-guitar staccato,
backed by the solid drums and
funky bass foundation, plus the percussion and
great stage presence of the
lead singer was just amazing. These guys were
real musicians and showmen in
everything they did. Their songs were tight,
energy-filled, and the 70 or so people
who bothered to show up to see the show last
night were quickly infected.
After the show, I thanked the lead singer for
the show and mentioned your website:
he wanted to say thanks for the support.
I've regularly viewed your website since 2003,
when I got hooked on it on a
suggestion from an instructor at Shasta College
in Redding, CA. Your website
has always helped keep my spirits up w/ its humor,
pressure in the right spots,
and commentary, breaking thru the doom and gloom
preached by the BFEE.
Hopefully, the upcoming overhaul of the Democratic
Party this fall and in '08 will
also entail an ousting of the current fearmongering
and victimized-feeling Republicans.
There might be hope yet for our democracy to
set guidelines for corporate interests
instead of the current reversal of that.
Ohio needs to get back into the blue!
Thanks again!
