Giving Osama
What He Really Wants
by Robert Parry
consortiumnews.com
Excerpt:
Bush and bin Laden share a common goal in Iraq.
They both want U.S. forces to "stay the course."
Recently disclosed internal al-Qaeda communiques
make clear that bin Laden's
terrorist band is counting on a long-term U.S.
occupation of Iraq to build its movement.
In a letter, dated Dec. 11, 2005, a senior al-Qaeda
operative known as "Atiyah" lectured
al-Zarqawi, on the necessity of taking a long
view and building ties with elements of the
Sunni-led Iraqi insurgency who have little in
common with al-Qaeda except hatred of the Americans.
Atiyah told Zarqawi that "the most important thing
is that the jihad continues with steadfastness
and firm rooting, and that it grows in terms
of supporters, strength, clarity of justification, and
visible proof each day. Indeed, prolonging
the war is in our interest." [Emphasis added.]

Democrats:
Counting our chickens
Link
Excerpt:
Democrats said unexpected opportunities for gains
keep coming their way - including House races
in Minnesota, Idaho and Nevada — and they have
the money needed to battle Republicans to the end.
"We have enough to play defense in the blue states
and offense in the red states," said Chuck Schumer,
who heads the Democratic senatorial committee.
This isn't how winners talk.
Winners say, "It'll be a tight contest, we
hope the voters are looking for change."
World Series
Saturday, before Game 1 started, the game announcers were talking like
Democrats.
They said the Detroit Tigers were laughing at the Cardinals.
They said odds-makers said the Cardinals had no chance against
the mighty Tigers.
Sounds like what the media has been saying about the Democratic "surge"
on Nov 7.
It got so bad, they said the talk around Detroit was "Tigers
in Three."
We all know it takes four wins, so they were saying the Cardinals were
so out-classed,
they would probably give up and go home after being beaten to badly
in the first 3 games.
...then the Cardinals came out and kicked their ass, 7-2.
I wish Nancy Pelosi wasn't picking out furniture and drapes.
I wish the Dems would shut the hell up about their plans, "after
we win."
We haven't won anything yet, but we're crowing like Detroit
Tigers fans.
How can the Democrats be so stupid?

Bush: I
won't change a thing
Why mess with success?
yahoo.news
Excerpt:
Friday, the White House said Bush would not change
U.S. strategy in Iraq.
"We are constantly adjusting our tactics to achieve
the objective, and right now
it's tough, it's tough," Bush told the
Whore AP. Despite calls for change, Bush said,
"Our goal has not changed. Our goal is a country
that can defend, sustain and govern itself,
a country that which will serve as an ally
in this war. Our tactics are adjusting."
Tony Snow said that while Bush might change tactics,
he would not change his overall strategy.
"He's not somebody who gets jumpy at polls,"
Snow said of Bush.

Excerpt:
If the 2008 elections were held today, Hillary
Rodham Clinton would beat McCain,
but take away her maiden name and McCain pulls
ahead by one point.
Sweet fancy Moses, can your voters really be this
stupid to make this distinction a factor?
Let me know, my forehead has an appointment with
the local brick wall here.
Ryan,

People are stupid, no doubt about that.
A long time ago, maybe 1988, Pink Floyd with David Gilmore was
selling out stadiums
all over America while Roger Waters, who wrote and sang most of their
biggest hits was
doing essentially the same show as Gilmore, which meant playing much
smaller venues,
doing much less business. Which one's really Pink?
Page and Plant toured in 95 and 98.
Any doubt they could have sold out stadiums if they used their other
name?
Mick nor Keith could fill a nightclub without the other, while Townsend
and Daltrey
tour under their "work" name for a very good reason - people are stupid.
A guy once told me, "I saw Led Zeppelin."
I asked if he liked it, he said, "He was good."
Early on, Der Monkey got 30 percent of his votes from
people who mistakenly thought they were voting for his father.
People are stupid.

Bart, nice work on radio show #98. Loved all the
clips and commentary.
I can't understand with so much leaning our way,
from public awareness and anger with
this Administration to the media finally willing
to so those things that were taboo last year
and beyond, I am fearful for this election. I
have heard you say it, and others on the internet
and other radio that nothing is for sure until
the votes are counted.
I think we are all a little fearful that our true
votes will not be counted, that somehow these
bastards are going to steal this one too. We
need to investigate these bastards and hold them
accountable for the mismanagement and downright
theft that has occured on their watch.
Keep that hammer swinging.

Gambler!
I lost the e-mail, but it said, "Bart,
you ask for contributions, yet you gamble.
How can you expect people to contribute when
they know you're gambling online?"
First, playing $6 poker with people drunker than me - that's not gambling.
It's cheaper than a movie - am I a bad person if I go to a movie?
Besides, when you win the poker tournament, you get $25.
Gambling is quitting your day job to attack Bush full-time,
hoping you can attract enough like-minded people to pay the bills.
Gambling is giving your credit card to The Palms and hoping
enough people
show up so that you can pay for the party next month when the bill
shows up.
.
Gambling is having bad luck, then signing a 30-year
mortgage.
There are lots of reasons to read and not contribute,.
but my "gambling" certainly isn't one of them.

Is it Vietnam
yet?
by Cindy Sheehan
truthout.org
Excerpt:
I am often told that the US deaths in this young
century's first conflict for profit are "negligible"
compared to Vietnam, or a "drop in the bucket."
I have terrible news for these reich-wing carnage
confederates: Iraq is even deadlier for US forces
than Vietnam. In the first 3 years 7 months of
the illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq, 2,791
of our volunteer soldiers have been killed,
and in the first 4 years of 1,864 conscripts
were killed.
The disparity in KIAs is huge, and the implications
of this make me nauseous. October is one of
the grisliest months for Iraq. With Henry Kissinger
visiting Georgie on a semi-regular basis, and with
the beat of the death-drums pounding for Iran,
we can recall Nixon's invasion of Cambodia and the
resulting carnage and the violent protests (i.e.,
Kent State) here at home. Apparently Nixon's "secret plan"
was increased slaughter, and I shudder to think
of George's plans for peace.

Bush's Absolute
Power Grab
by my good friend Carla Binion
consortiumnews.com
Robert Parry's Note: Many Americans are
in denial about what is happening to the United States.
They don't want to believe that a totalitarian
structure could be put in place in their own country.
They don't want to view the various pieces of
George W. Bush's "anti-terror" system in that broad
a context. They hope that someone or something
-- the Supreme Court maybe -- will strike down
the excesses of the Republican-controlled Congress
and the Executive Branch.
Though there are still obstacles that stand in
Bush's way -- the Nov. 7 elections, for instance
-- America's march down a road to a new-age totalitarianism
has advanced farther than many
understand, as freelance reporter Carla Binion
argues in this disturbing guest essay:

2787....2800
American victims
Bush killed 13
more soldiers over the weekend.
Why are the military families so silent?
Do they still think their loved ones died for a reason?
What would that reason be?
So Bush can say, "I stayed the course?"
How does that equal "sacrificed his life for
his country?"
"Bush's war costs $2 billion a week."
-- so by all means, stay the course?
Bush has killed more
Americans than Osama.

Random thought...
Why is the GOP seen as America's protectors?
I suspect Karl Rove will be named MVP when all this is over.
It must have been Karl who dreamed up the "We can protect you better,"
theory.
It goes like this:
"Since 9-11, we Republicans vow to protect
America, whatever it takes."
So they went on their worldwide rape, robbery, torture/murder spree
unopposed.
And when the Democrats said, "Can't you protect us without the rapes
and torture?"
Karl Rove instructed the GOP and the media to reply, "You
want us to protect America less?"
As always, the question was framed by the Republicans, because the Democrats
are stupid and scared.
The question was framed as "THIS will protect
us from terror," and when the Democrats asked for
some sanity in the battle, the Republicans scored points by calling
us sissies.
Check it out:
The more torture complaints they got, the more they're seen as "getting
the job done."
The more Abu Graib compalints they got, the more they're seen as "getting
the job done."
The more spying complaints they got, the more they're seen as "getting
the job done."
The more "rape the Constitution" complaints they got, the more they're
seen as "getting the job done."
The louder the cry was to "get real," the more points they scored.
But as the years went by, people believed them a little less.
Finally, Katrina showed up and when Bush went on vacation and returned
to tell us what a great job
Brownie had done keeping New Orleans safe and dry, and people thought,
"He's
a lying bastard."
Does Katrina get more credit for exposing Bush than the Democrats and
the press combined?

Subject: gas prices
How low do gas prices have to go to get Republicans
elected?
Especially knowing that as soon as the election
is over that prices are
going back up, how low would Republicans have
to go? Under $2.00?
Or what if they went all the way down to 75 cents?
Maybe Republicans should try sending us all a
$300 tax refund?
Or they could do a prayer circle to show us how
religious they are.
Or maybe if we blame it all on those "commie lib'rals"
like Nancy Pelosi
and the witch Hillary who are going to put gays
in charge of the military.
If you don't vote Republican then Islamic death
squads will slaughter your family,
and then the Democrats will tax you after you
die.
