Iraq Cover-up Continues

for Bush was how the U.S. press corps has continued to avert its eyes from the role of Westerners, including 
Bush's father, in aiding and abetting Saddam's murderous regime.
 
Major U.S. newspapers, including the New York Times and the Washington Post, reported on the June 24 
death sentences meted out to "Chemical" Ali and two other senior Hussein aides without a single mention of 
the American role in helping arm and protect the Iraqi regime in the 1980s.

A special Iraqi tribunal handed down the death sentences after a tainted legal process that saw Iraqi PM al-Maliki 
oust the original chief judge for making comments viewed as favorable to the defense. The defendants also were 
denied the opportunity to call witnesses because of security concerns.

The prospect of real justice was impaired, too, when Maliki rushed Hussein to the gallows on Dec. 30, 2006,
eliminating the possibility that Saddam might offer explosive testimony, including how his regime got the chemical 
weapons that were deployed against Iranian troops from Poppy Bush.

Mineta: Cheney ordered 9-11 stand down

Mineta is on video testifying before the Whitewash Commission, though it was omitted in their final report.

"During the time that the airplane was coming into the Pentagon, a man told Cheney, 
"The plane is 50 miles out - the plane is 30 miles out .and when the plane was 10 miles out, 
he asked Cheney,  "Do the orders still stand?" And Cheney barked, "Of course the orders still stand, 
have you heard anything to the contrary!?

After no shoot down took place, it became clear that Cheney intended to keep NORAD fighter jets 
from responding-- evidence that Cheney is guilty of treason, not negligence for allowing the Pentagon to be hit.
 
 

Rahm Emanuel calls Cheney's Bluff

House Democrats, responding to Cheney's ridiculous assertion that he's not in the Executive Branch, 
said Tuesday if that's true, he'll no longer need Executive Branch funding.

Rep. Rahm Emanuel, who has taken trainloads of shit from the left-wall-huggers for not standing up, 
noted that five years ago Cheney claimed executive privilege in refusing to release details about his 
meetings with oil industry scumbags to discuss energy policy.

"Now when we want to know what he's doing as it relates to America's national security in the lead-up 
to the war in Iraq and after the fact, the vice president has declared he is a member of the legislative branch."

Therefore, Emanuel said, "we will no longer fund the executive branch of his office and he can live off 
the funding for the Senate presidency." The heartless Cheney presides as president of the Senate.
 

Will they really de-fund the son of a bitch?
Or will they cave in yet again, as we've come to expect after hundreds of cave-ins?

Remember, this is the House, not the spineless senate crybabies, so expectations are high.

Great show!  I never listen to Tim the whore, so I'm glad you shared with your take on things.  
For a while I thought that Richardson was looking like a decent candidate, but after a session like that, 
it's clear that he needs to stay in New Mexico.

I sure wish Gore will run.

Your comment about the auto industry and electric cars (and Richardson's totally noncommittal response 
to Timmy) caught my attention.  A couple of months ago I saw the movie "Who killed the Electric Car?"  

If you haven't seen it, get it.  It tells the story about the EV1,  a great all electric vehicle that GM built and 
was loved by everyone who got the privilege of driving one.  They then  systematically destroyed them all, 
literally prying the cars from the people.  Actually, there were a couple of the cars that didn't get crushed
- saved for museums - but, the drive components were removed first and destroyed.  All because of politics 
and big oil money.  And why is it that a plug-in hybrid vehicle isn't commercially available?  Same thing.  

Sure, you can by a Prius and then buy a $10.000 kit to modify the car to be plug in, and get 100 MPG, 
but then what does Toyota say about any warranty?  I heard that a group wants to have a tax break for 
this modification, similar to the tax break that businesses get for buying a $70,000 hummer.  Don't hold 
your breath on that ever happening.  And I don't even have to say anything more about the American 
auto makers. It makes me sick.  Excuse me while I hurl.

After that, Harry Reid, ashen-faced and looking like he'd just awakened with a horse's head in his bed, 
would appear and tell the world that the Senate Democrats would once again let themselves be used like 
an old dish rag in a cathouse. There would be platitudes about "reaching consensus" and blather about 
"bi-partisanship" and something about "keeping our powder dry for the really important fights."
 

Yep, that's our Harry.
Isn't there anybody in the senate who can replace that dishrag?
Why do Democrats always fight so hard for a job or position (I'm thinking Kerry the Quitter) 
and then when they finally get that job or position, they refuse to do the damn job?

You'd think Reid would have a sore back after so many years of bending over for Bush.

Bart - The latest study on pot use from the WHITE House is more KKKarl Rovian bullshit.  

The study is actually from the Coulee Center of La Crosse Wisconsin, funded primarily by handouts 
from the local churches.  The center gets its secondary funding from treating so-called marijuana addiction 
at their facility in La Crosse. They have a vested interest in portraying pot usage as something that needs 
curing - they provide the "cure," for a fee, of course.  

They have been around since 1968, but their "scientific study" consists of talking to those troubled teens 
with whom they come into contact.  Not a word about the 47% of high school seniors who have tried pot 
and 99% of them who show no ill effects whatsover.  All opinions in the "study" are just that - opinions formed 
by the staff of this outfit who get paid for counseling these poor pot victims.  

It's merely fuel for KKKarl Rove disinformation.  
Does this WHITE House ever tell the truth about anything?  
This bullshit is just more of the same.

Emanuel said the admission makes it clear that the White House "told Cheney that he would 
have to come up with another excuse - that this was not sustainable in the public arena."
Emanuel said the vote is still planned, and said Cheney needs to comply with National Archives requirements.

You can neither botch nor butcher a glass of lemonade.

The best thing to do with a glass of lemonade is drink it and enjoy.

You could, however, botch PREPARING a glass of lemonade (too much sugar, for instance)..  
Using the term "butchering" as in the sense of botching a job, then yes, you could "butcher"
the preparation of a glass of lemonade.

I though we already agreed you couldn't.

If someone handed you a shot of very poor quality tequila, you might say that the distillers "butchered" 
the job of making the product.  Get the idea?  Accept that word uses often involve nuances of meaning, 
especially as the word travels from place to place.  When used in the sense it was used yesterday, it is 
pretty clear that the use of the word 'butchered" did not mean the cutting of meat, but rather that a job 
was BADLY botched; that is to say, not only doing a job poorly, but doing it so poorly that the person 
or group doing the job made a bloody mess of the job. with the word "bloody" being inferred metaphorically).

If he meant "botched" he was certainly free to use that word.
But he went with "butcher" because that implies bloody carnage and his intention was 
to distort Hillary's record and resume.  If Hillary is the anti-Christ, Cheney clone Mother 
of the devil, why do people have to resort to words like "butcher" to describe her past?

Bush, for instance, has "butchered" American foreign policy and all most any other job he has undertaken.  
In the case of Bush and Iraq, of course, the term butchered COULD and perhaps SHOULD be taken literally.

Michael Moore vs Hillary on Leno

Mike cheated.
The "praise" he's had for Hillary in the previews for Sicko comes with a dagger.
I haven't seen the film yet, and maybe he made a completely inadvertant mistake on Leno,
but he trashed her a ten on the scale, all but calling her a sell-out whore.

Paraphrase: "After fighting the good fight for so many years for the uninsured,
she's now the second highest recipient in the Senate of BIG Pharm money."

The way he phrased that came out as, "She was good, ...before she turned evil."
He has accused her of legally accepting a campaign donation, but he dressed it up
to make it seem like she did something illegal or unethical.

I sense a major war coming on, but taking BIG money from BIG business is NOT wrong.
If you don't take BIG money from BIG business, you lose.

Taking the money is not the point.
The point is, "What did BIG business get for their money?"
With Bush, the lobbyists got cabinet positions and they wrote legislation.
They won't get that with Hillary.

You can't win the White House with good intentions, alone.

That was a cheap shot, last night on Leno, Mike.
You assembled a bunch of facts that led the viewer to a false conclusion.

The Senate Judiciary Committee subpoenaed the White House and Cheney's office Wednesday 
for documents relating to Bush's illegal eavesdropping program. Also named in Leahy's subpoenas
were the Justice Department and the National Security Council. The four parties have until July 18
to comply, according to a statement by Leahy's office.

The committee wants documents concerning disputes over the legality of the program.
 

The last time Leahy served a subpoena they laughed in his face.
As always, Leahy apologized and failed to pursue anything.
Cheney already told him, "Go fuck yourself" to his face.

Has Leahy changed?

Well Bart, I've always worried about politicians who accept money from groups they say they don't agree with.
Knowing how evil the pharmaceutical companies are (I rank them just above oil companies), I know they expect
something for their money. Accepting money from them is like accepting money from the Nazi Party or the Klan.
I'm not so naïve that I think there isn't some kind of agreement between a politician and a lobbying firm.

And I know that many lobbyists/PACS give money to both sides just in case,
but where do you draw the line?

their bones out the window when she's thru with them, but when someone like Rupert or Big Pharm 
hands her a check, they think she's a mild little kitty who's going to fall in line when ordered to.

Because of Kerry's cowardice, thousands more soldiers have died and will die.
Can he ever be forgiven for refusing to fight?

Oh, and I can't wait to see them try to pull that shit on Hillary.
 

The corn rocks

This is the first time in 14 years we haven't had Goldie the cat at corn time.
I'll tell you - that cat was at least as corn crazy as I am.

We'd come back from Bixby and the minute we walked thru the door,
Goldie would smell that corn and she was on it like Rush on a black single mother.

She would eat the long green leaves, and eat and eat until she got sick.
It got to where we'd have to store the corn in the garage or the fridge,
because wherever we put it, she'd find a way to get to it, and eat till she got sick.
 

The Bixby Green Corn Festival starts Thursday.
