Novak's
Limited Plame-gate Hang-Out
by
Robert Parry
consortiumnews.com
Excerpt:
Robert Novak has played a complex game in advancing
the "Plame-gate" cover-up. Novak was the one
who first published her identity; he then answered
a few questions before going silent; now, he is making
a series of misleading arguments via his columns.
Novak's deceptions and the complicity of major
news organization that publish his column without demanding
clarifications may be unprecedented in the history
of U.S. journalism. Theoretically at least, news organizations
are expected to ferret out government wrongdoing,
not act as accomplices in the crime and then abettors of the cover-up.
Yet pieced together, Novak's hedged disclosures
and other evidence, including facts from Libby's trial,
shed light on the dark underbelly of this extraordinary
scandal, albeit sometimes unintentionally.

Those were
the days...
by woman-beater John Fund
opinionwhore.com
Excerpt:
There is clearly a great deal of Clinton nostalgia
in the country, and the audience clearly agreed with
Aspen Institute president Walter Isaacson's assertion
that Mr. Clinton had presided over a time of
prosperity when "American power and prestige
was used only for good in the world," The implication
was that U.S. troops and influence are being
used for ill today. Duh!
You think?
But several people in the audience noted that
there were still some shadows over the Clinton legacy.
One leading liberal philanthropist told me he
just couldn't imagine installing Hillary Clinton in the White House,
given that it would mean the country would have
alternated two dynastic families, the Bushes and the Clintons,
in the White House for over 24 years or more.
Would a Bush puppet be better than a thinking Democrat with a heart?

LA Priests
offer $660M to settle child rapes
$660M so the rape victims will stop talking about their
organized serial rapes
Hey, I have another option - stop
raping those little kids!
Link
Excerpt:
Cardinal Roger Mahony, (R-Pedophile), apologized
Sunday to the hundreds of people
who will get a share of a $660 million settlement
over allegations of clergy sex abuse.
"There really is no way to go back and give them
that innocence that was taken from them.
The one thing I wish I could give the victims,
I cannot," he said.
"Once again, I apologize to anyone who has been
offended, who has been abused. ...
It should not have happened and should not ever
happen again."
Mahony said the church will have to sell buildings
and use some of its invested funds and
borrow money to pay their rape victims. The archdiocese
will not sell any parish property, he said.
"This long journey has now come to an end," Mahony
lied to reporters.
Where's the zero tolerance pledge, Roger?
You say it "shouldn't" happen again, so where's
that pledge?
They will continue to rape little boys and then pay them
to get them to stop talking about their priest rapes.
If they're going to pay for sex, why
don't they go to Vegas?
Why rape little boys - ruining their
sex lives - then pay them for it?
A "settlement" without the guilty saying what they did in open court
is just a bribe.
The Catholics will continue to organize and cover-up the rapes of little
boys - it's what they do.
If you
give money to the Catholics you
are enabling their rape sprees.

Government
Lies About Medical Pot
alternet.org
Excerpt:
The Republican governor of Connectictut is the
latest politician to look foolish for pushing
tough anti-marijuana policies in the face of
scientific data that proves the arguments hollow.
When Connecticut's Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell
vetoed legislation last month that would have
allowed citizens with debilitating medical conditions
to use medical cannabis under their doctor's
supervision, she alleged that there was no proof
of pot's therapeutic effectiveness and that legal
alternatives are available by prescription. Now,
a just-released clinical trial by researchers at
Columbia University in New York is making the
governor's statements ring hollow.
On June 21, just 24 hours after Gov. Rell's veto,
the online database for the National Library of
Medicine posted an a forthcoming study from the
Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes
that reports, "Smoked marijuana has a clear
medical benefit in HIV-positive [patients] by increasing
food intake and improving mood and objective
and subjective sleep measures."
But the Invisible Cloud Being wants his children to suffer, and whatever
He wants, or whatever
some handjob politicians says He wants, no matter how illogical
or cruel, is what we'll do.
We are America, the anti-science country that does what the ghosts tell
us to do..

parables, but they're always true.
> You THINK you're right, you HOPE you're right,

Now let's apply this maxim to Al Gore where Scott
Armstrong wagered a $10,000 bet to Gore

would be as dire as the IPCC predicts.
How does Gore's response of "not wishing to take

Cliff
There is such a thing as a useless bet.
Most of the bad news will come after we're all dead.
Plus, how can one measure, "as dire as the IPCC predicts?"
It sounds like you're on the side of "Let's trash the planet."

at Michael Chertoff
truthout.org
Excerpt:
Michael Chertoff is best remembered for his tragicomic
performance during Hurricane Katrina.
He gave his underling, the woeful Brownie, a
run for the gold.
It was Chertoff who announced that the Superdome
was "secure" even as the other half of the split screen
offered graphic evidence otherwise. Chertoff
told NPR that he had "not heard a report of thousands of people
in the convention center who do not have food
and water," even after the world watched it on TV all day long.
But even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
Last week, as the Bush administration frantically tried to counter
Republican defections from the war in Iraq, Chertoff
alone departed from the administration's script to talk about
the enemy that actually did attack America on
9/11, Al Qaeda, rather than Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia, the
jihad-come-lately gang Mr. Bush is fond of talking
about instead. In this White House, the occasional official
who strays off script is in all likelihood inadvertently
coughing up the truth.
Damn, that was a good column..

Who killed
Ken Lay?
wehateclintons.com
Excerpt:
If this had happened during the Clinton administration,
and Lay had been Clinton's primary financial patron,
don't you think that right-wingers would be all
abuzz today with conspiracy theories about how Clinton had
Lay knocked off to keep him from talking? You
just know they would.
The GOP's right-wing surrogates doggedly pursue
vicious conspiracy theories like this because it works.
Every paranoid fantasy or mean-spirited swift-boating
serves to chip away at a politician's public standing
as voters inevitably if reluctantly -- even unconsciously
-- subscribe to the "where there's smoke there's fire"
school of character judgement.

Why does
Bush hate children?
Link
Excerpt:
Over the weekend, White House spokeswhore Tony
Fratto told the New York Whore Times that there is
"no question" that Bush will veto a bipartisan
plan to expand the State Children's Health Insurance Program
to cover 3-4 million more of the nation's uninsured
children. According to the Senate Finance Committee,
the program currently covers 6.6 million children
whose families are not poor enough to qualify for Medicare
but who cannot afford private health insurance.
The plan for expansion would more than double
the $25 billion currently spent on the program,
and would raise the extra money by increasing
the tax already levied on tobacco products from 39 cents to $1.
In explaining why the president would threaten
a veto, Fratto said:
"The proposal would dramatically expand the Children's
Health Insurance Program, adding nonpoor children
to the program, and more than [double] the level
of spending ."
So - we can afford a two trillion dollar war of
choice, but not health care for kids?
If only the Democrats could figure out a way to
speak...

Justice
baltimoresun.com
Excerpt:
Lest there be any remaining doubt, Bush's refusal
to allow even former aides to testify before Congress about
contacts with the Justice Department is a tacit
admission that he and Tortureboy Gonzales have plenty to hide.
Yet it serves neither justice nor the dysfunctional
Justice Department for Congress to wage a constitutional battle
with Bush over his claim to "executive privilege."
The president may well lose such a fight in the courts,
but that outcome likely wouldn't come until after
the end of his term in January 2009."
Why don't the Democrats use this against Bush?
They say, "If you have nothing to hide,
you shouldn't mind when we read your mail,
read your e-mail, snoop in your bank accounts
and listen to your personal phone calls."
But if they have nothing to hide, why can't they
testify?
Remember - federal
judges ruled that Clinton couldn't use executive privilege
to prevent his aides
from testifying about Monica, (because that was
important) but the whore court will surely protect their boy
when he commits real crimes (like
torture, murder etc) in our name with our money.
If only the Democrats would speak up...

Overstating
Iraq Pullout Worries
by Ivan Eland
consortiumnews.com
Excerpt:
Iraq is rapidly becoming unglued, and the war-weary
American public - as well as the presidential candidates
of both parties pandering to them - is likely to
demand a complete and rapid withdrawal of all forces from Iraq.
This policy is the correct one and its ill effects
have been vastly overstated.
Even the worst-case scenario after a total U.S.
withdrawal - a full-blown Iraqi civil war that drags in neighboring
states - would be bad for Iraqis, but it would
have only minimal effects on U.S. security.
Frankly, no one would care what happened in Iraq
if it weren't for its large oil deposits.
Yet Iraq's oil production has never recovered
from decades of wars and grinding economic sanctions.
