"Two polling firms -- Zogby and Gallup --
released surveys of the presidential race that offered
strikingly different conclusions. The Zogby poll found that Hillary is trailing
five leading GOP
candidates in general election matchups. The Gallup Poll, by contrast, found
that Hillary, and to
a lesser degree Obama, has a slight to sizable lead over the top GOP contenders.
Zogby is an
online poll, a notoriously unreliable method, while the Gallup one is a telephone
poll..I don't need
to tell you which poll got all the media attention. Do I? The Zogby survey
was covered repeatedly
on CNN, earned coverage from MSNBC, Fox News, and Reuters and was covered
by multiple
other smaller outlets. Gallup got squat."
-- Greg Sargent, Link
I told you Zogby was a whore-for-sale.
His polls are as fake as the one Kos published that showed Her at zero percent.
When Hillary ran against that little boy in 2000, Zogby took money to
say she was behind.
It's hard to believe he can still get work after admitting he
took money from her opponent to say
Hillary would lose, but then again, we live in a country run by a whore media
- so I get it.

Casting aside the image of the war as a bloody quagmire, the neocons are
again selling Iraq as a vital beachhead
in the Middle East from which the United States can project power throughout
the region and achieve victory over
Islamic militants hostile to Israel.
“It does not have the drama of the Inchon landing
or the sweep of the Union comeback in the summer of 1864,”
wrote neocon Charles Krauthammer. “But the turnabout of American fortunes
in Iraq over the past several months
is of equal moment – a war seemingly lost, now winnable.” [Washington
Post, Nov. 23, 2007]
Krauthammer and others are back to baiting Democratics
for supposedly living in “a state of denial”
and refusing
to acknowledge Bush’s wisdom in dispatching 20,000 more troops for
a “surge” under Gen. David Petraeus.
But the surge proved that Bush & Rummy sent
too few soldiers in the first place.
All those years we threw men into the meat-grinder, and all we had
to do was add more troops?
Shinsecki (sp?) suggested that before the war and they fired
him for being right.
They couldn't have peace - they
needed chaos no nobody could see that Iraq's oil well's have
no meters.
"It ought to be borne in mind
that Romney is not a mere rank-and-file Mormon. His family is,

cult invented by the

beliefs that he has not
just held, but has caused to be spread and caused to be inculcated into children.
It is essential." -- Christopher Hitchens,

Tempers were raw between Rudy the cross-dresser and Mitt Romney on Thursday
after a lively debate
that included what the Romney camp called a nasty attack by Giuliani. The
two Fascist huns went
toe-to-toe on Wednesday on illegal immigration and other issues.
In the sharpest exchange of the night, Giuliani had
a tough response when Romney insisted New York
had been a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants when Giuliani was running
New York in a dress.
Giuliani labeled Romney's home a "sanctuary mansion" and accused
him of turning a blind eye
to illegal immigrants working on its upkeep.
"It just happens you have a special immigration
problem that nobody else up here has," Giuliani added.
"You were employing illegal immigrants."
"That was Rudy showing his nasty side," said
Romney communications director Matt Rhoades.
"And it was a personal attack of a personal nature, and the audience booed
him."
It was a damn interesting debate, not like the others we've seen.
Ron Paul would say, "We're
Rerpublicans - we need to balance the budget and stop this war!"
and half the crowd cheered and half the crowd booed. The GOP has no idea
what it stands for.

Henry Hyde, the scumbag who admitted they impeached Clinton as "payback" for

Hyde, an icon of the conservative movement, had been ill, undergoing triple

Earlier this month, Bush awarded Hyde the Medal of Freedom with a straight
face.
"Henry Hyde proved that a man can screw around
and break up families and still be considered a hero

Rarely has a debate left me so troubled about the future
of the nation. By now, I should have learned not
to be shocked when Republicans like Mitt Romney, who spent the Vietnam War
in France, pretend that
they have more expertise about waterboarding and other forms of torture than
John McCain who spent
five years being tortured in a North Vietnamese prison. I should have also
learned not to be dismayed
that the standard Republican position on immigration
(McCain and Huckabee excepted) now seems to be
Emma Lazarus in reverse: 'Take my tired and poor, please. I never want to
see those shiftless bums again.'
Bart, I know you have expressed some
pro 2nd amendment sentiments over the years,
but here is an observation I thought you might get a kick out of:
Ask the Democrat about gun rights and
there is at least a chance
you will get an answer that acknowledges a menace to society.
Ask the Republican about gun rights and
you will likely get some strained explanation
of the struggle between good and evil and how the dead go to a better place.
SeldomRead
I thought about gun rights while reading about the death of
that pro football player.
He paid $900,000 for his home, but didn't bother to get (or turn on) a burglar
alarm, ($16 a month)
so some handjob breaks in and the football player goes to investigate ...with
a machete?
At Casa de Bart, if a window or door opens when the
alarm is set, a chirp starts making a loud noise
that's more obnoxious than Nancy Grace on her period, swear to Koresh. Most
handjobs would
take off at that point, but if they want to gamble, I ain't bringing no damn
machete to a gun fight.
I always ask this question, but I can't remember getting a
good answer: If you wake up to breaking glass, what do you do? Call the police
and pray?
Depending on your phone,
and then depending on the 9-11 operator to get your address right
and then depending on the police dispatcher to get your address right
and then depending a patrol car to get there in time ...is for chumps.
Air America's Rachel Maddow says, "Your
gun is 22 times more likely to be used against you."
That might be statistically true in some way in some instances
for people with kids,
but that won't happen at my house and that kind of nutty talk is what loses
elections for us.
Subject: Henry Hyde
- good riddance to bad rubbish
Dear Bart:
Mr. Human Life Amendment, Henry Hyde is dead.
You know, the pompous jackass who said
that HIS adultery was a "youthful indiscretion",
even though he was 42 when it took place. He was 83 - only the
good die young.
Ah, well - Reagan, Weinberger, Nofziger
and Falwell have a new playmate in hell.

"In order to better fight the
War on Terror, Bush is going to cut pay raises of TSA screeners,
making sure that they are paid less than people in comparable jobs in the
private sector. Brilliant!
We want only people have have no other option in those critical jobs, right?
Meanwhile the thugs
at Blackwater pull in hundreds of millions of dollars to shoot Iraqi civilians
without provocation." -- AJF, Link
That's not only a great observation, but I like his writing
style.
"Let's straighten the ship. Let's
get integrity.
Let's get trust built back and the rest will go away." -- Mart Green, founder
of the Christian supply store chain Mardel, in promising up to $70 million
more to Oral Roberts University,
the debt-ridden evangelical institution riven by scandal, Link
Wait a minute - that's not fair.
You mean if I screw thousands of scared and sick old people out of their
money,
and spend that on trips around the world on my private jet - and then
I get caught,
some religiously-insane handjob might give me $70 million dollars?
I'm not getting any money because I'm too honest to lie to
desperate people?
Hell, I haven't raped any little boys, either - is that why I'm broke?
Moral of the Story: Honesty is for suckers
because organized religion rewards the crooks.
When Pelosi made that comment, it was
BEFORE the 2006 mid-term elections
and she was (properly, IMHO) signaling that Dems could be trusted not to
go crazy
with power like the Republican’ts had done.
Her fuckup was, AFTER the Dems’ sweeping victory, all she had to say
was when she’d said that,
there had been no investigations of wrongdoing. Use their newly-won subpoena
power (which she
herself once recognized as the most important item at stake in the election),
hold a few hearings,
and voila: impeachable offenses. And say, whoa, NOW impeachment’s
back on the table.
But no.
She didn’t, hasn’t, and won’t.
As you say, our “leaders” aren’t smart enough to do that.

Bart, last night, I wore my WPE t-shirt
to a local supermarket, where an employee agreed with me on the tee.
Today, however, was another story.
At another supermarket, an employee said, "I don't know, maybe he is
and maybe he isn't",
which forced me to quote George Orwell's "1984" to her and apply
it to the right.
Twenty minutes later, at the bank where I have my account, there were two
high-ranking employees
who just laughed and said "Jimmy Carter", and so I told them that
Carter just played the hand he was dealt,
whereas their "hero", Ron Reagan, was, according to Congressional
Records dating back to the thirties,
a "Card-Carrying Communist".
I even quoted "1984" to one of them!
Finally, at the drug store here in this town, I spoke with the chief pharmacist,
whose hsuband is
Chief of Police here, asking if this shirt could be banned in this town,
citing it as protected speech
under the First Amendment. She said it was truly that, then asked two of
her employees what they thought of it.
Both of them agreed with her, and with my shirt!
That brings my record with it up to 122 agree, 10 disagree, and 4 no opinion

Back in the old days of 2000 I had a
near 6 figure income, drove a nice small MBZ, lived in the best
section of San Francisco, could spend money, had few concerns, and looked

A neighbor who was working 3 jobs was shot dead in the street last night,
a robbery gone wrong,

Excerpt:
While success against the armed enemy was rare, Powell’s ARVN unit
punished the civilian
population systematically. As the soldiers marched through mountainous jungle,
they destroyed the food
and the homes of the region’s Montagnards, who were suspected of sympathizing
with the Viet Cong.
Old women would cry hysterically as their
ancestral homes and worldly possessions were consumed by fire.
“We burned down the thatched huts,
starting the blaze with Ronson and Zippo lighters,” Powell recalled.
“Why were we torching houses and destroying crops? Ho Chi Minh had said
the people were like the sea
in which his guerrillas swam. ...
“We tried to solve the problem
by making the whole sea uninhabitable. In the hard logic of war,
what difference did it make if you shot your enemy or starved him to death?”
Powell has a point - in the hard logic of war, what difference does it make
if you shoot
an American soldier in the back or tell lies that gets him shot by Iraqis
defending their land?
Powell probably sleeps great at night, with the ghosts of 4,000
soldiers screaming at him.
BTW, sorry about missing much of the last 2 weeks.
Today I debated myself (you should witness that!) about doing a radio show
or doing five pages this week and I decided to go with the five pages.
With my small brain, it's been tough to get a handle on the Mac operating
system, a new keyboard,
a new mouse,a new e-mail program, a new FTP system, a new picture loading
program etc.
I gambled that subscribers would rather get 2 pages than 1
radio show. I intend to get a
radio show out next week. I have a show in my head, I just need for time
to slow down.
