"Congratulations, Barney, on becoming a
junior park ranger. Job well done."
-- Tony Blair, talking to his half-brother
Barney in the White House Christmas video
Excerpt:
The smug Democratic hierarchy may be inviting defeat, again, by ignoring the fact that
many
Americans want leadership that appeals to them on the higher plane of principle.
Hillary Clinton summed up this consumer-over-citizen approach when she announced her
health care plan on Sept. 17:
"We can talk all we want about freedom and opportunity, about life, liberty, and the pursuit
of happiness, but what does all that mean to a mother or father who can't take a sick child
to the doctor?" [Boston Globe, Sept. 18, 2007]
Perhaps a different question might be: why would a presidential candidate see our founding
principles as somehow at odds with the desire of parents to want health care for their children?
What am I going to to with Robert Parry?
He seems to be going out of his way to fabricate reasons to attack Hillary.
If your child is seriously ill, or if a family member has been hit by a car,
do the "founding principles" matter as much as immediate medical care?
Why is Parry manufacturing phoney Hillary positions and then attacking them?
Is Hillary's record so perfect that Parry must twist her words to find issues to blame on her?
What am I going to to with Robert Parry?
The old Parry stuck to the facts, he didn't need to fabricate reasons to attack Bush,
but this new, perhaps-because-he-needs-money-Parry is a different animal.
A while back I wrote to Parry to see if I could get him to clarify a previous, uncalled-for
Hillary attack, but I got no answer.
I assume he gets a lot of mail, but I'd sure like to hear
his explanation of why Hillary's record needs to be distorted.
The TV strike seems to be dragging on forever.
even if they settle it today (they won't, talks broke off again) it'll be 6 weeks
before we'll see returning shows, but what are the short-sighted bastards risking?
As the weeks go by, people are discovering there are other, funner things to do,
like reading bartcop.com or downloading naked pictures of the High School Musical girls.
So what percentage of TV viewers are they losing forever? In just the last 2-3 years,
TV's top scripted show, CSI, has gone from 27M viewers
to 19M viewers.
What makes the strike super-stupid?
The producers and the studios are making millions from the Internet and DVDs,
but the greedmeisters don't want to share that and that's what caused the strike.
Do the TV bosses think they can run reality shows forever?
How many hours of "Deal or No Deal" can you watch in one week?
The studio bosses have to cave in sooner or later, so what do they have to gain
by slitting their own throats and sending their audience to the Internet?
I think its funny that the critics all love Zep, all of a sudden.
Back in the day, they were not so kind...and that's me being kind to the critics.

Todd, good point. Plant used to complain that it wasn't fair

Offering rare public comments on his past problems with alcohol, Bush said that he had
never been a "knee-walking drunk," but that "I doubt I'd be standing here if I hadn't quit
drinking whiskey, and beer, and wine and all that."
Bush has previously said he often drank too much as a young man, and that he quit
drinking
in 1986 after overindulging on his 40th birthday.
Something awful happened that day - I wonder what it was?
Did the hooker die? Did a friend OD on cocaine?
Something happened that day - I wonder what it was?
Shortly before the 2000 presidential election, news surfaced he was arrested in 1976 for
driving under the influence of alcohol near his parents' home in Kennebunkport, Maine.
“Alcohol can compete with your affections. It sure did in my case - affections with your family,
or affections for exercise,” Bush told the ABC News interviewer Tuesday.
"It was the competition that I decided just wasn't worth it.”
So, he quit because it interfered with his exercising AND his marriage?

Der Shippanse vetoed legislation Wednesday that would have expanded health insurance for kids,
his second slap-down of a bipartisan effort in Congress to increase funding for the popular program.
It was Bush's seventh veto in seven years. Wednesday was the deadline for Bush to act or let the bill
become law. The president also vetoed an earlier, similar bill expanding the health insurance program.
Bush vetoed the bill in private because he was too ashamed to fgace the cameras.
Bush gave billions to the greedy oil bastards, then he told the kids to f-off and die.
If I ran the DNC, I'd make him eat that 1,000 times.

A magazine published by the American Bar Association named Tortureboy Gonzales
its Lawyer of the Year for 2007 - mostly for creating so much controversial news.
The ABA Journal also picked AG Michael Mukasey - Gonzales' successor - to be its 2008 lawyer
of the
year because he has to deal with the problems left when Gonzales resigned in gisgrace.
The ABA Journal appears to award lawyers who committed a lot of serious crimes.
"The top legal story of 2007 was unquestionably the unraveling of support for Bush's expansive
view
of presidential power during wartime, and with it, the slow-motion destruction of Alberto
Gonzales'
reign as U.S. attorney general," according to a statement issued by the ABA Whore Journal.
"Add to that the controversy over the illegal firing of eight U.S. attorneys for
political reasons,
and no single lawyer made more news in 2007 than Gonzales," the magazine said with a straight face.

So said John Kiriakou, who headed up a team that had captured Abu Zubaydah
(still called "a major Al-Qaida figure", according to Pamela Hess).
What Kiriakou was referring to was the ease with which interrogators
could choose
to resort to waterboarding, which made Zubaydah start singing like a canary in 35 seconds.
Pure horseshit.
I saw some reporter on CNN who said he endured waterboarding for 9-10 minutes.
And Zubaydah is supposed to be some bad-ass, ten-foot-tall al Qaeda boss?
For all we know they taped a hose to his mouth and killed him the first hour,
but to hear our thugs tell it, they're "saving lives every day."
Every goat herder they found in Afghanistan was rendered to Gitmo for torture.
Sure, some goat herders break quicker than others - but a top al Qaeda thug?
This is why we lost the Constitution?
Because two-bit thugs break after just 35 seconds?
I don't understand why Rudy isn't in more trouble for having his whore chauferred around.
In 2006 NY State Comptroller Alan Hevesi was charged with defrauding the government,
got a plea bargain and had to pay money back to the state of New York.
He had a state
employee driving his WIFE around and she was ill.
It seems to me the two cases are very familiar, if anything Rotten Rudy's is worse.

As British forces come to the end of their role in Iraq, what sort of country do they leave behind?
Has the United States turned the tide in Baghdad? Does the fall in violence mean that the country
is stabilising after more than four years of war? Or are we seeing only a temporary pause in the fighting?
American commentators are generally making the same mistake that they have made since the invasion
of Iraq was first contemplated five years ago. They look at Iraq in over-simple terms and exaggerate
the extent to which the US is making the political weather and is in control of events there.
The whole world hates and fears us,
gasoline is 3 bucks a gallon

You make a great point about the Democrats' opportunity to impeach right now.
I've been e-mailing Pelosi and Reid a few times a week demanding that they start
impeachment proceedings against Bush/Cheney. I encourage all of your readers to do the same.
I believe the real reason they destroyed the torture tapes is that under torture,
the terrorists revealed the identity of their BFEE co-conspirators, their secret
CIA handlers or, and false flag nature of the 9-11 and most other terrorist attacks.
It’s not about the torture. Why bother covering up a crime
that you have admitted to and that everyone knows about?
Please post the following link about 9-11.

Mr. Bart, I just wanted to say your Icy Weekend Dec 8-12 Web page was magnificent.
It was quite obvious you put a huge effort into it. In fact, it was almost as if you were
trying to make up for not being able to post because of the ice storm—something that
plainly was not your fault (unless you have powers you've not yet otherwise revealed).
I admire your spirit and your work ethic. And I hope it did not cost you too much
in terms of your own strength/energy, or lost sleep.
I worry about you, Boss. You work like a Trojan.
Every reader keeps telling you to keep swinging the hammer. I'll be the exception,
and suggest that when you get the opportunity—don't swing it once in awhile.
Let yourself recover. You're way too valuable to do yourself in with overwork.
I already have one helicoil in my chest from such things, and the chest pains
are starting to come back again, so I know a little about what I'm speaking of.
Take care of yourself.

Ron Paul originally entered the race like the thousands who enter the World Series of Poker.
They know the odds are long, but what the hell, they give it a fling.
Ron Paul has won a few pots and now he has a nice stack of chips.
From what i know, there are four types of playing styles in poker:
Loose/Passive, Loose/Aggressive, Tight/Passive and Tight/Aggressive.
Ron Paul is Tight/Aggressive.
He doesn't play a lot of hands, but when he does, he does so with good cards and he comes out firing.
Anyway, keep on hammering the neo-cons and thanks for all the work you put into this page!

Joel, you have a good point.
Another way to look at it: Since he was an unknown, the only way he could gain
some
traction was
to go "all in" and talk crazy, which in the GOP means "Stop this bloody war."

Jitske, got math?
There are over 200 million guns in America.
If Bush declares Martial Law, at least 2/3 will try to stop him.
200 million guns held by 200 million people is tough to stop.

Excerpt:
Rather than spreading democracy, recent U.S. military activism has helped spread chaos
in several regions. It has tattered both our reputation and our armed forces. It has helped
push
Muslim populations toward Islamist politics, unsettled America's alliances, and prompted
"balancing behavior" on the part of potential big power competitors: China and Russia.
As for its impact on terrorism: terrorist activity and violence has grown worse, not better since 9-11.
Average levels of terrorist violence that would have been considered extreme in the period prior
to 9/11 have become the norm in the years since. And there is no sign that this trend is abating.
The present course is not only counter-productive, but also fabulously expensive.
Indeed, it seems to be delivering less and less security at ever increasing cost.
Unless Bush pulls some martial law Trick or Treat on us, we have 13 more months
to put up with his spending/stealing hundreds of billions of dollars to make us less safe.
Can we survive until then?
