"Our country for the first time in my life time has abandoned the basic
principle of human rights. We've said that the Geneva conventions do not
apply to those people in Abu Ghraib prison and Guantánamo, and we've
said we can torture prisoners and deprive them of an accusation of a crime.
But you can make your own definition of human rights and say we don't
violate them, and you can make your own definition of torture and say
we don't violate them."

Excerpt:
In accepting the Nobel Peace Prize, Al Gore recalled the events seven years ago
when
the U.S. Supreme Court stopped the vote in Florida and handed the Presidency to Bush.
At the time, many in Official Washington rejoiced at the decision on the grounds that it
spared the country more partisanship. It also was the result that many top pundits wanted,
the “election” of the well-liked Texas governor and the return of the so-called Republican
“adults” who supposedly would guide him.
There was remarkably little concern among the Washington elites that the will of the
American people was being overturned, that Gore had won a plurality of the votes cast
across the country and was almost certainly the choice of Florida voters, too.
The hot word of the moment was “legitimacy.” It was deemed important to assure the
American people that Bush’s selection was “legitimate” even if Bush would be the first
popular-vote loser in more than a century to enter the White House.
But the day that those five U.S. Supreme Court justices overturned a recount order from
the Florida Supreme Court – Dec. 12, 2000 – also was a turning point in American history.
I'm curious, in volume #2083, the opening toone is Bush dressed like Norman Bates.
Is it just me or does he look frighteningly like ol' Babs in that picture??
Just sayin.
Kelly
Kelly, that was the point of the toon.
In the movie, Bates killed his mother but then killed AS his mother.
Maybe Bush's insatiable compulsion to rape, maim and murder
reveals
that something terrible
happened to him during his childhood?

Oprah's recent campaign swing with Obama was greeted with wild cheers and
record-breaking crowds. But some of her fans aren't happy that she's become
politically
outspoken, and many are sounding off on Oprah's Web site.
"Oprah," says one, "count me as tuned out for now."
Another writes, "It's a real turn off for a lot of your fans." And yet another
says "She has crossed a line and lost my trust completely."
But, what's especially interesting about reading Oprah's Web site is why
some of those fans seem to be upset: the way she stumped for Obama,
they say, seemed to pit white against black.
"I've been inspired to believe that a new vision is possible for America,"
Oprah said while on the stump with Obama in South Carolina.
"Dr. King dreamed the dream, we get to vote that dream into reality."
Back on Oprah's Web site, one commenter wrote, "Winfrey has artfully
begun her stump speeches alongside Obama with a negative racial tone."
And another commenter wrote, "Don't pit blacks against whites."
No matter what, she's going to be attacked for getting into politics.
For all we know, those negative comments came from Republican sons of bitches.

Pundits and TV anchorcreatures love pronouncing about politicians' "character,"
when
all they’re really talking about is personality. Hence glib, superficially charming
candidates
invariably win plaudits in the reality-TV epics we call presidential elections.
This year’s
GOP Prince Charming is Mike Huckabee. When it comes to ingratiating
himself, few
surpass the one-time Baptist preacher. He’s witty, he’s warm, and doggone it,
people
like him. Character consists of something deeper. That’s why it’s important to know
the truth about Wayne DuMond, the serial rapist and murderer Huckabee freed from
the
Arkansas penitentiary to kill again. Unfortunately, that’s the last thing you’ll hear
from the candidate himself.
DuMond was a cunning con-man, a predatory psychopath adept at playing victim.
A naïve and inexperienced Huckabee went for it, hook, line and sinker. So did others
for whom professional skepticism is supposed to be a job requirement. In springing
DuMond, the Arkansas Republican courted praise from the Clintonhating right-wing
press, whose responsibility for the murder the ex-con committed after his release
shouldn’t be overlooked.

"Historians looking back on the Bush presidency may well wonder if Congress
actually existed. Time and time again, President Bush has run circles around
what is, at least on paper, a co-equal branch of government. Sometimes he doesn't
bother to ask Congress for its approval. Sometimes he demands it -- and gets it.
Amazingly enough, that didn't change when the Democrats won control of the
House and Senate. They just make a bit more fuss before rolling over."D -- Dan Froomkin, also telling the truth, Link
Excerpt:
The Democrats' core problem is that they have been unable to place blame
for gridlock where it largely belongs, on the Republican minority and the president.
In an ideal world, Democrats would pass a lot of legislation that Bush would either
have to sign or veto. The president would have to take responsibility for his choices.
The House has passed many bills, but the Republican minority has enormous power
in the Senate to keep the legislation from getting to the president's desk. This creates
the impression that action is being stalled through some nefarious congressional "process."
The Democrats are failing - as always - because they refuse to list the facts.
If they would just stand up and SAY SOMETHING they could win every fight.
But someone told them fighting back was a bad thing, so we lose every time.
> Would a nice guy call Jesus's brother the Devil?
No, one wouldn't and he didn't.
He was asking if that's what Mormons believe.
Oh, please!
He asked that question to make Romney look stupid so Huckabee
could take advantage of the religiously-insane Iowa caucus goers.
Is it your position he asked that question in good faith?
You've been reading bartcop.com long enough - your
bullshit detector
should be barking like a chihuahua drunk on warm Cuervo Gold.
That would be like saying since Bart asked
"Would a nice guy call Jesus' brother the Devil?"
Bart is calling Jesus the Devil's brother.
Lavery
You have opened up a can of worms. Of course Lucifer was Jesus's brother - how could he not be?
Jesus was in existence long before Mary was ever born, so all that
"virgin mother" stuff is just another fairy tale that makes no sense.
God created Jesus, Lucifer and the angels to play with when he was bored.
When he got bored with them, he created us puppets to torment.
Second, don't forget that God created the Devil and God created evil.
Why didn't God foresee what havoc that bad decision would cause?
Why would he do such a pointless and terrible thing?
Just so he could watch people sin using their non-existent "free will?"
Was that God's way of putting firecrackers in a frog's ass?
According to the crap the nuns told us, God knows how people will
turn out long before they're born, so they have as much "free will"
as the characters in a Dickens novel. Does God enjoy watching
"his children" suffer for all eternity? Who believes that crap?
The whole stupid story has more holes than Bonnie & Clyde's car.
You can't take any of that hooey seriously.

Her militaristic stance on Iraq predated her support for Bush's 2003 invasion.
For example, in defending the brutal four-day U.S. bombing campaign against
Iraq in December 1998 -- known as Operation Desert Fox -- she claimed that
"[T]he so-called presidential palaces ... in reality were huge compounds well suited
to hold weapons labs, stocks, and records which Saddam Hussein was required by
UN resolution to turn over. When Saddam blocked the inspection process, the
inspectors left." In reality, as became apparent when UN inspectors returned in 2002
as well as in the aftermath of the invasion and occupation, there were no weapons labs,
stocks of weapons or missing records in these presidential palaces. In addition,
Saddam was still allowing for virtually all inspections to go forward at the time of
the 1998 U.S. attacks. The inspectors were withdrawn for their own safety at the
encouragement of President Clinton in anticipation of the imminent U.S.-led assault.
If you hate Hillary's "militarism," you're going to love President Huckabee.
You've mentioned it in the last two radio shows, so I thought I might add
my two cents:
Stewart and Colbert didn't stop their shows just because they
can't produce them without
their giant writing staffs. They stopped their
shows because they too are on strike. They,
along with many other TV
comedians, are members of the Writer's Guild.

Bart...everyone is attacking Hillary.
I watch tons of news and I've never seen anything like it.
This murdering monster Bush goes on his merry way, killing
innocent
people
every day in Iraq and blowing thru $2 billion
dollars a week
while breaking laws and morals - and the news?
It's all about some minor thing Hillary might or might not
have said
about Obama or how bad she looks in pant suits.

The whore press picked Bush in 2000 and 2004.
That's their job - to protect Bush and attack the Democrats
"House Democrats blame Senate Republicans, who have used parliamentary
tactics
to block even uncontroversial measures. But they are increasingly
expressing public
frustration with Reid and Senate Democrats for not putting up a better fight.
Barney Frank called it a 'hold and fold' strategy: Senate Republicans put a 'hold'
on Democratic bills, and Senate Democratic leaders promptly fold their tents."

Two different immaculate conceptions?
How many immaculate conceptions could a

I can understand why God would want to play down the,

"Obama found the perfect booster in Oprah. Not only can she fill a stadium
with adoring people and put a hammerlock on a news cycle, she specializes in
the warm-and-fuzzy uplift that is the very foundation of Obama's candidacy.
This was the pontiff of daytime television bestowing secular sainthood on the
golden child of latterday liberalism. 'For there is born to you this day a savior.'
The Oprah-Obama match is made not quite in heaven, but in a haze of
inspirational piety with heavy religious overtones."

As Chris Rock said, "They brag about taking Baghdad in 3 weeks,

Subject: The government's version of Sep 11th is a lie
My questions are based on facts, not opinions:
* Hijacked airliners flew all around the eastern U.S. for hours without any military response???
How could Osama make our air force stand down, or did Cheney do that???
* The Pentagon was struck by a "hijacked" airliner 45 minutes after two other "hijacked" airliners
struck the WTC, without the airliner being intercepted, approached, chased, or even seen by our air defenses?
* The Gov't still refuses to release clear video of whatever happened at the Pentagon to this day, six years later??? Why???
* The massive WTC-7 building was 350 feet from the nearest tower, was not hit by a plane,
yet it imploded in a controlled demolition at 5:20 pm??? It housed many gov't offices,
& the over-insured owner said the building was "pulled." Why???
The Bush/Cheney regime is using 9/11 as a pretext to brazenly subvert our U.S. Constitution,
launch illegal invasions of Afghanistan, Iraq, (Iran?), & grant themselves dictatorial powers
here at home! They have committed high treason & must be impeached & imprisoned while
we still have the Bill of Rights!
I urge everyone to watch "Loose Change" free on the web for proof
that 9/11 was a "false-flag" attack! Also Google terms like "911 truth"
& visit 911truth.org911blogger.comae911truth.org
& other patriotic, resistance sites!

The sacless Democrats allowed Bush to stack the Whitewash Commission
with cronies like Lee Hamilton and go-along handjobs like Bob Kerrey.
They allowed Bush to dictate under which conditions he would testify,
including that he refused to be sworn in which made lying legal.
"I am not prepared to answer that question, Senator."
-- Brigadier General Thomas W. Hartmann, the legal adviser at Gitmo,
repeatedly refusing to call waterboarding torture, Link
What have I always said about arguing with a right-wing liar?
They have three options: 1. They can refuse to answer the question.
2. They can change the subject.
3. They can lie.
Since Hartmann was under oath, he chose not to lie.
Changing the subject only works if the other guy allows it to work,
so Hartmann had no choice but to refuse to answer.
But if you're honest, you don't need to worry about those three options,
which is why no Democrat should ever lose a debate or an argument.
It's so fucking easy, it's hard to figure out why we don't win every time.
As Orwell outlined in his book 1984, unending war is the tool of choice for
the fascist regime. Our tax dollars are siphoned off to corporate headquarters
to fund an ever increasing defense budget which builds bigger and better bombs
and delivery systems to protect the corporate office's "interests" in middle east
oil among other things.
When an upstart like Venezuela threatens America,
the corporate media will be
certain to whip up another frenzy that your typical
knuckledragger in LA or
Oklahoma City will eat up along with his rain forest
double burger with cheese.
The idea that the military build up in China or
Indian is dangerous just doesn't wash.
Not only do they shop at the same military walmart as the US, the nuclear superiority
of the US is so absolute that no one would dare usurp our position as top dog.
In the corporate accounting offices, the miltaristic "waste" of taxpayer dollars is a
cost effective way to maintain American superiority on this planet. Not only that,
along with an ever worsening education system, this new paradigm also ensures
an unending pool of low paid service workers who are uneducated and afraid;
afraid of America losing its edge, afraid of an America where a middle manager
job won't pay the rent anymore.
Bush has initiated a brave new world, safe for
corporate America which in turn
makes it safe for us; poorly educated
self absorbed Americans who need a passport
to go to far away exotic countries
like Canada. I would love to think that the simple
act of electing a democrat
to office would change the landscape. I don't believe that
to be the case anymore.
While ANY democrat in the 2008 race is superior to the republicans, a sea change
is needed to move America back from the brink that Reagan started pushing us
toward 30 years ago. I don't see that either. Aside from the outrage expressed by
fat overfed letter writers like myself, the streets are eerily empty and the public
discourse dangerously silent.

Remember "the Scream" by Howard Dean? Well, in today’s Iowa debate, it was "the Cackle".
In the press room there was mirth and disbelief from reporters as a microphone picked up
Hillary's belly laugh
when Obama was put on the spot. It’ll be up on YouTube very soon.
The moment certainly reminded Joe Trippi of 2004, when he was Dean’s campaign manager.
Now he works for Edwards. “It was potentially the moment of the campaign so far,”
he told me when
I asked him about the Cackle. “There’s a meanness that’s coming out of the
Clinton campaign that’s
revealing itself…the Cackle reinforces that perception. Again, it was a mic. Very similar situations.”
First of all, it's thought (by law enforcement and others) that Dumond
castrated himself. (This means he removed his testicles.) Apparently,
this happens with some sex offenders. No one was ever tried or convicted
for the castration, as there was no evidence pointing elsewhere.
A castrated mature male can no longer produce sperm, but he still
produces sex hormones (testosterone) in his adrenal glands.
So he can
still have an erection, but he can't impregnate a woman.
Now, if he had been castrated before reaching sexual maturity (puberty),
it would be another story. His sex organs wouldn't have developed,
and he would still have that lovely soprano voice.
I think that's where I got confused :)
The whole theory behind the craziness in Ark is that Dumond was
framed by the Clintons. Why? Who knows, But the anti-Clinton crowd
claimed there was exonerating DNA evidence. There wasn't. What was
in the files (that Huckabee never reviewed) was complaints of Dumond's
attacks and violent behavior from other women. Women who begged
the governor NOT to ever let him out.
Huckabee is an evil bastard.
He is responsible for the deaths of those two women.
Google Wayne Dumond if you want to see the crazy right wing
propaganda from the time that is still out there.
Excerpt:
December 12th, 2000 was truly a day of infamy for those of us who do remember
that on that date the Bush v. Gore decision was handed down by the United States
Supreme Court, handing the presidency over to George W. Bush.
I still remember the phrase that was used in determining the outcome of that case,
that “no irreparable harm” comes to George W. Bush. I have often thought of that
phrase and have remarked: Well what about the rest of us?
As of yesterday, 3,888 U.S. soldiers have lost their lives, 28,629 have been maimed,
and according to JustForeignPolicy.org 1,130,689 innocent Iraqis have been murdered
at Bush’s hands. I would say they have felt the most harm out of anyone.
While there is still a debate that rages on whether or not 9-11 attacks would have
occurred under a Gore presidency, our retaliation towards Afghanistan has resulted
in 469 U.S. soldiers losing their lives. We must remember them as well.
In identifying what kind of an American one is, it has been said that some are
post- 9/11 Americans and others are pre-9/11 Americans -- and I just want to
clarify for all that I am a pre-December 12th, 2000 American.
Thank you for not having a knee-jerk anti-Hillary site.
Hard to find anywhere else on the web or MSM.
Here's my 2 cents.

Diane, I think you're right.
I asked a fella named Paul if he knew of any other "Democratic"

I looked them up and they didn't even register on the site ranker.
