Quote of
the Day
"Republicans believe in the free market for
profit, but they're Socialists when it comes
to losses." -- Bill Maher,
getting it exactly right on Bush's
bailout of profiteer pirates like Bear Sterns HBO
Excerpt: When McCain,
speaking in Jordan, on Tuesday, accused Iran of harboring and training
al-Qaida terrorists,
he apologized as soon as Joe Lieberman loudly
whispered in his ear that he had uttered a blooper.
He withdrew that remark and noted that while
the Iranian government is training other "Islamic extremists"
across the border, that does not mean they are
involved with al-Qaida in Iraq.
Being McCain, he did not have to worry about the
cable networks playing his mistaken comments on
an endless loop. Confused as he may be, his friends
in the national press corps are not about to expose him
to ridicule. But now his own campaign seems to
be withdrawing his self-correction and apology, at least in part
-- and insisting that the Iranians indeed do
maintain connections with al-Qaida in Iraq.
I could almost understand the press fawning over him in 2000,
when "straight talker" McCain said
Congress was full of whores and that religious nuts were killing the
GOP, and Bush called him a
crazy traitor back in Vietnam - but since then he's become Bush's chief
ass-kisser, he's gotten
into bed with the religious charlatans that he hates and he wants 100
years of war with Iraq.
I guess sometimes the whore press just loves a guy for no discernable
reason.
"Following weeks of oil prices hitting over
$100 a barrel, Cheney met Saudi King Abdullah for talks that will include discussions
on cooperation to move the price of oil to $200 a barrel." -- Fritz,
Link
>>We also get Mike Malloy - it's weird to hear
him do an AAR commercial after they screwed him :)
I'll bet 4 billion butterfly sneezes to 3000 crying
moons that Malloy did no such thing.
Paul
Paul, I may have written that too quickly. It should
have read, "it's weird to hear Mike speaking on the XM channel that
carries AAR, after they screwed him..."
I guess XM-Radio has a different AAR line-up
than local affilliates?
Excerpt: Let's look at the far right extremist senator
from Oklahoma, James Inhofe. Most folks just know
him as a Climate Change Denier but that barely
scratches the surface of what's wrong with Inhofe.
For someone who is so aggressively pro-war, he's
incredibly anti-veteran and anti-service member.
The Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America
looked at his voting record and gave him a D-.
On October 5, 2005 his deciding vote against
the bipartisan Health Care for Veterans Amendment
killed a bill that had passed in the House 398
to 19. The following month Chuck Grassley and
Barbara Boxer co-sponsored a bill to get desperately
needed funds for counseling, mental health,
and rehabilitation services for veterans diagnosed
with mental illness, post-traumatic stress disorder,
or substance abuse. Again, Inhofe voted against
our military veterans. That's been his pattern,
a pattern that includes outrageous tax cuts for
millionaires while short-changing vets.
"McCain can get away with it. I mean, the irony
is had either Clinton or Obama misspoke like that, it'd have been
on a running loop, and it would become a big problem for a couple of days for them." -- NBC's Chuck Todd, on the MSM giving
McCain a free-pass
after he linked
al-Qaeda to Iran all last week, Link
McCain and his blunders
will get a free pass until the election.
Excerpt: I became much too concerned with fighting that
old internal ideological battle and failed to think
freshly or realistically about what the consequences
of intervention could be. I allowed myself
to be distracted by an ideological battle when
what was required was clear-eyed prudence.
The deciding factor for me in the end was that
I could never be ashamed of removing someone
as evil as Saddam from power. I became enamored
of my own morality and the righteousness
of this single moral act. And he was a monster,
as we discovered. But what I failed to grasp
is that war is also a monster...
I do not understand why you are denigrating one
of our own.
I know you support Hillary and I have respect
for that.
I just don't understand why you aren't going
after McCain instead.
Do you think it will help Hillary to tear Obama
to shreds?
It is obvious to everyone except Hillary and
her rapidly turning rabid supporters
that she cannot win and her continuing candidacy
is hurting our party.
It is time to unite and turn our attention to
John McSame.
Regards,
Belinda
Belinda, look here, dude, and check this out -
I really liked the way you started out,
but then you got a little pitchy in the middle,
maybe got a little ahead on your timing,
dawg, but you did a good job to bring it home,
so overall, I'm gonna say "Good job!" (Whoop! Whoop!)
...and yes, I'm going after McCain, but - have you ever tried to find
a negative story about John McCain in America's whore media?
Like with Bush, they cover his mistakes and gaffes.
Bob reminded us that "Stephanie Miller and
Ed Schultz are not part of Air America. They are on the Jones Network, but they are
always mistakenly lumped in with Air America."
Jones Radio was bought out by a couple of Clear
Channel executives about two years ago.
Do you suppose that they brought Clear Channel's
pro-bush policies with them?
Ed Schultz crossed the Hillary-hate line many
months ago.
BTW, you might occasionally fail to predict the
future, but I have never thought that you were
completely wrong on any major point. Even
better, your opinions are always labeled as your
opinions - you don't try to manipulate us with
shaded terms and rhetorical tricks.
Your intellectual honesty keeps me coming back
and you will undoubtedly continue to
sustain me through the next four years of the
upcoming McCain Administration.
Let's hope you're wrong about that. :)
I'll send you some cash as soon as I get some.
Best regards,
HWD
Excerpt: "I love you guys, but I want to take you to task
if I may respectfully for a moment," Wallace began.
"I have been watching the show..., and it seems
to me that two hours of Obama-bashing on this
'typical white person' remark is somewhat excessive,
and frankly, I think you're somewhat
distorting what Obama had to say."
Maybe FOX thinks he's going to win and this is the first step
towards not alienating the next administration?
"With the war and economy, the Democrats were
poised to win huge majorities in Congress, and the White House. This is a train
wreck of epic proportions for the Democratic party. It doesn't surprise me though..." -- some guy named Pat, Link
Excerpt: Historians will argue over whether George W.
Bush is the worst president the United States
has ever endured. But that is not the point.
Five years after Bush's ill-starred invasion of Iraq,
three years after Hurricane Katrina and seven
months into the unravelling of the U.S. financial
system, the point is that the 43rd president
of the United States - regardless of his ranking in
the pantheon - is a unique and unmitigated disaster.
Oh, but in 100 years, somebody might say he wasn't all that bad.
That's how Bush continues to delude himself.
Excerpt: Pope Benedict led the world's Catholics into
Easter on Saturday at a Vatican service where
he baptized a Muslim-born convert who is one
of Italy's most famous and controversial journalists.
The German-born pontiff, marking the third Easter
season of his pontificate,
began the service in the atrium of a darkened
St Peter's Basilica where he carved
the Greek letters Alpha and Omega on a large
candle.
The basilica became a sea of flickering flames
as thousands of faithful inside lit candles
before the lights were turned on in a ritual
symbolizing the darkness in the world after
Christ's death and the light of the resurrection.
Easter, the most important day in the Church's
liturgical calendar,
commemorates Christ rising from the dead three
days after he was crucified.
I'm so confused - I don't even know...
It sounds kinda like a Lord of the Rings movie,
but tens or hundreds of thousands
of possibly innocent people die from this inherited
madness every year.
Religious people could stand on the ground and enjoy their all-but-perfect
lives,
but instead, they look for the tallest tree in the damn county to climb
so they can
attempt to learn the identity of the other poor bastard that their
religion says has
to die because he has a different book than we do - and that makes
them bad..
Why was Obama not notified first that his passport
files had been infiltrated?
Why was the news the first to know?
Who leaked it to the press?
Why does Condi say she's going to get to the bottom
(of it) and stay on top (of it)?
Why does Condi say that the State Department Inspector
General is in charge of the investigation
when there is no State Department Inspector General?
The last one resigned under a cloud in
December 2007 when he was accused of impeding
an investigation into Blackwater - his brother
is a Blackwater "advisor".
Excerpt: Giuliani's priest has been accused of molesting
children and covering up more molestations.
Romney was part of a church that actively discriminated
against black Americans.
Falwell said we had 9/11 coming because we tolerated
gays, feminists and liberals.
McCain's man, Reverend John Hagee called the
Catholic Church the "Great Whore."
Reverend Rod Parsley believes America was founded
to destroy Islam. Since this is
such an outlandish claim, I have to add for the
record, that he is not kidding.
John McCain says Reverend Rod Parsley is his
"spiritual guide."
What separates all of these outrageous preachers
from Rec Wright? You guessed it.
They're white and Rev Wright is not. If
it's not racism that's causing the disparity in
media treatment of these preachers, then what
is it?
Bart, the timing on this shit is a little too
exquisite for my liking.
Officially most of the key primaries are now closed,
Florida and Michigan aren't in play,
and technically Hillary can't make it except
if the "super delegates" pledge for her,
although many endorsements have been for Obama.
Magically, the second the Obama rises to the position
of presumptive nominee,
and alternatives are off the table, he's suddenly
"less popular".
Gee, wow, so what are we left with? A Democratic
candidate the Democrats don't want
(according to the media), or Hillary, who magically
has become "more popular" the second
she doesn't have the delegates to take advantage
of it, or the GOP candidate?
Excerpt: The FBI has recently adopted a novel investigative
technique: posting hyperlinks that purport
to be illegal videos of minors having sex, and
then raiding the homes of anyone willing to click on them.
Undercover FBI agents used this hyperlink-enticement
technique, which directed Internet users to
a clandestine government server, to stage armed
raids of homes in Pennsylvania, New York, and
Nevada last year. The supposed video files actually
were gibberish and contained no illegal images.
Roderick Vosburgh, who taught history at La Salle
University, was raided at home in February 2007
after he allegedly clicked on the FBI's hyperlink.
Federal agents knocked on the door around 7 a.m.,
falsely claiming they wanted to talk to Vosburgh
about his car. Once he opened the door, they threw
him to the ground outside his house and handcuffed
him.
What are they calling "child porn?"
There'a a guy who's doing hard time in Atlanta right now (unless his
appeal was successful)
because he got a BJ from his girlfriend who was "underage." I
think he was 19 and she was 17.
This is what some Republican prosecutor would call "child porn" and
if/when that guy ever gets
out of prison, he'll have "child sex abuser" on his record his whole
life.
I like TV, and I like writing about it.
Maybe after I get run out of politics, I'll start a page about TV.
I recently saw a review of "Dirt," which I like.
It's not great TV, it's no Sopranos, no Rescue Me, no
Veronica Mars,
but it's a fun, guilty pleasure show and any good TV critic will say
those are needed.
The review I saw said Courteney Cox was "horribly miscast" as Lucy Spiller.
That's as wrong as putting powdered limeaid in Chinaco Anejo.
She plays that part great, probably better than her role as Monica on
Friends.
