Who will

Walter Shapiro is a total douche who's more stupid than Wolf the

But who do you think Obama will pick?
I think he'll pick a certain senator whose first name

Who do you think he'll pick, or should pick?

Link
Hey Matthew, were you around in 1980?
George Herbert Herbert Bush said, "America
can't afford Reagan's voodoo economics,"
so in Matthew Yglesias's world,
that
made Poppy Bush the biggest ally on Jimmy Carter's payroll?
No, that what's called "a primary", Matthew.
Tell me, Matthew, are you new to politics?
And after the primary, they got together, and Reagan told Bush
he could be his VP
if he would agree to screw women on their reproductive rights.
(Bush was pro-choice.)
So Matthew, why would you say something that stupid?
Are you just incapable of writing anything that doesn't slam
Hillary?
Why can't you face the fact that you won and the war's over?

Subject: Bob Parry
Bart:
A reporter or blogger who presents something as
fact while distorting the context is not a reporter.
He is a mediawhore. Hillary never implied that
Bobby Kennedy being shot was luck for Humphrey,
nor that anyone being shot would be lucky for
her. She reported the fact that Bobby Kennedy was shot.
Comparing that to today and using the word lucky
I find insulting to the memory of Bobby Kennedy
the most fearless American politician who ever
had a chance of winning the White House.
I still can't think of Bobby without tearing up.

Clinton
backers move towards Obama
Link
Excerpt:
Some of Hillary's biggest backers from New York
rallied around Obama Thursday as she signaled
her candidacy was ending. Clinton, in an
e-mail to supporters, said she "will be speaking on Saturday
about how together we can rally the party behind
Senator Obama. The stakes are too high and the
task before us too important to do otherwise."
Many of her supporters now are pushing for her
to be included as his VP, in their minds a "dream ticket"
that would bring Obama her enthusiastic legions
and broaden his appeal to white and working-class voters.
But Obama indicated he intends to take his time
making a decision.
"We're not going to be rushed into it. I don't
think Senator Clinton expects a quick decision
and I don't even know that she's necessarily
interested in that," Obama told NBC in an interview.
I wrote this, pre-merge, in Volume
2158.
> If Clinton gets shut out, we'll probably lose.
> If the super-dels vote for the popular vote winner, Hillary, we
lose Obama's people.
> It would seem the only way to win is an Obama/Clinton team.
> She appears willing to do that, but Obama is not.
> Will Obama's ego cost us the White House?
That pissed a lot of people off, but isn't it true?
I hope Obama, like Gore, doesn't insist on
"being his own man."
Gore tried that and the result was a non-political career.
Dissing the winner of the popular vote might not be a popular thing
to do.
Ed Rollins said, "Reagan made it clear in 1980
that there were two people he wanted to
stay away from - George Herbert Herbert Bush
and Howard Baker. One ended up as his
VP and one became his Choco-Chief of Staff,"
so
it's not always about what you want.
It's about what it takes to win the White House.
I don't care if he picks Hillary or not, but if he wants to win, it
would be smart
for Obama to put his ego aside and make Hillary and her people happy.

Excerpt:
Obama would like to remind you of something:
He won and she didn't.
It's about him now and not her. He has made history,
and she is history.
It has been a hard-fought and sometimes bitter
campaign, but Obama is not,
one of his senior advisers assured me Tuesday
night, going to spend a lot of time
in the next few months wooing Clinton supporters
whose feelings may be hurting.
Hmm, is thumbing his nose at the (slight) majority of Democrats a good
idea?
Hey Barack, you're the "reach across the aisle,"
guy, remember?
I hereby offer you my services.
Who better than me can point out how they'll come at you?
I can see your flaws better than, perhaps, your more misty-eyed fans.
Some say you have the black vote and the educated white urban vote,
but so
did Gore and Kerry and you've got to reach beyond what those losing
campaigns did.
I've heard you say you might have some Republicans in your cabinet,
so why not have some Hillary backers give you some good advice?
You beat Hillary with the help of Republicans allies and your media
allies.
Those people are gone so you've lost 2/3 of your support.
If I were you, I wouldn't reject any help that's offered.
...just trying to help - we can't afford to lose this one.

Excerpt:
Far from being an independent check on government
power, today's corporate-controlled,
courtier-dominated media function as reliably,
and far more smoothly, to advance White House
propaganda than McClellan himself ever did. But
this is unthinkable, so the networks rolled out
"their full stable of multimillionaire corporate
stars who play the role of authoritative journalists on
the TV to join with their White House allies
in mocking and deriding McClellan's claims.
One media star after the next - Tom Brokaw, David
Gregory, Charlie Gibson and Brian Williams,
Tim Russert, Wolf Blitzer - materialized in sync
to insist that nothing could be more absurd than
the suggestion that they are 'deferential, complicit
enablers' in government propaganda."
Well put.
Those lying sons of bitches know
they are guilty, but they'll swear they're not.
Every media star in America played along with
the White House to sell Bush's bloody quagmire.
When rational people suggest they failed to do their jobs, all the media
whores line up to insist
they asked every tough pre-war question they could think of
- how fucking absurd is that?
I hate to say something nice about perkypowderpuff Katie Couric, but
she
admitted
she felt pressure from her network and the feds to play along and sell
this war.
I feel strange doing this, but a shot of Chinaco for Katie
Couric for telling the truth

to lie for Bush.

Rove played
while New Orleans drowned
Link
Excerpt:
The first evidence of Rove's involvement in the
Katrina disaster occurred on Tuesday afternoon.
"Rove understood what a nightmare this was for
the president," Senator Mary Landrieu says,
"so he went into high gear on the spin thing
they're so good at in the White House. Rove talked to
David Vitter, (R-Pays for Whores) and David Vitter
walked up to the mike and said, 'I just got off
the phone with Karl Rove.' I thought, 'Why is
David Vitter on the phone with Karl Rove?' I mean,
he could have been talking to generals, the president
himself, but Rove is just a political hatchet man."
Despite his expertise being politics, the administration
had made Rove a central player in the handling
of the disaster. "A light switch in the White
House didn't get turned on without going through Rove,"
says Adam Sharp, an aide to Landrieu. 'Rove was
the point person for the White House on this disaster.'"
But even if you're the stupidest crook in America - why not help those
people?
That's what turned America against them - why didn't they see that?
Even if you're the stupidest crook in America, if you see some old lady
get knocked down,
why not help her up? What did they gain by sitting on their hands
while people died?
Why didn't Bush say, "Somebody help those people,"
and then go play video games?

Democrats,

by Joe Conason

Excerpt:
I suggest that the supporters of Clinton and
Obama consider how they would wish their
adversaries to behave if their positions were
reversed -- if somehow she had narrowly
defeated him instead of the way things actually
turned out.
Wouldn't the Clinton people expect their opponents
to acknowledge and even celebrate
the historic character of their victory? Wouldn't
the Obama people expect their man to be
first on the list for the vice-presidential nomination
-- and perhaps even circulate a petition
or two on his behalf? Wouldn't the losers seek
to magnify the meaning of their crusade?
Wouldn't the winners hope that this effort didn't
diminish their victory?
Joe Conason is a wise man.

Bart, I finally sent you money a couple of weeks

I think it's great. One minor "issue" with
that. (If I was really pissed off, I'd have given you show #
and time in the program, etc.) You stated
that Obama was the most liberal Senator in the Senate
based on some poll.
That's what worries me, if the right wing machine
can even convince ol Bart that Obama is the most
liberal Senator, what about all of the bozo's
out there with IQs well below 64; you know, lifelong Republicans?
They tried the same crap on Kerry. I mean,
come on, doesn't it seam strange that the Demo candidate
is the most liberal Senator, no matter which
year and which candidate. And think about it, Bernie Sanders
is a Socialist. How is either Kerry
OR
Barrack Obama more liberal than a Socialist?
They're still counting on "liberal" being perjorative.

Subject: Uncle Lou?
I could have been doing something more productive
but was reading your NYC Trip Report,
which was entertaining enough to keep me from
doing something more productive. I experienced
a major flashback when I got to Uncle Lou
and his pal, Les Paul. "Could this be?" I asked,
and dug back into the archives.
I took this shot of Les Paul at Fat Tuesday's
on a Monday night twenty years ago.
It was a quiet song, and Les shot me back a nasty
look, even though there was no flash.
It was as unobtrusive as the shutter of a 1970
Beseler Topcon Super D could be. Ker-flop.
I did not attempt another shot, nor did I remember
the name of the other guitarist except that it
had an Italianate flavor, but now I suspect it
was none other than Uncle Lou, Lou Pallo. Ya think?
Ross M
Ross, no doubt, that's Les Paul and Uncle
Lou.
Not sure why he'd mind a no-flash picture.
After all, they're in show business :)

Subject: Attacks on Obama
Hey Bart, I got this from the McCain camp.
This has been sent out to a lot of Repubs.....
per the email.
Tis will be going on national television soon......
http://www.eyeblast.tv/public/video.aspx?RsrcID=2036
This election is going to be such a mess....
If this is just the warm up, what can we expect
as the
Republican attack machine really gets going?
John
You're right - it's going to get very ugly.
From their point of view, if Obama wins, their
crimes will be exposed and
the oil companies will lose BILLIONS per day
so it's going to be all-out war.

Bart, I might have disagreed with your choice
over the last few months, but I've appreciated
your honesty and integrity, and it has not kept
me from your site. You never resorted to attacking
Obama, but worked hard to put forth Hillary's
case. Sadly, I feel, better than she did... Never the less,
I had always vowed that if the roles were reversed
I would put my whole support behind Hillary,
because the stakes are too high. Here's a little
donation to keep up the good work, to help bring
everyone into the fold. Help us to get all Democrats
to understand who the real enemy is, and it
isn't fellow Democrats, it is the Republicans.
I want everyone to understand the stakes, there
will be personal repercussions for all of us if we
do not win. I am 54, I have Heart Disease. Because
I already have 3 stents in my heart I CANNOT
get Health Insurance for love or money. My choices
are stark: bankruptcy or death, or most likely both.
My only hope right now is comprehensive health
care reform, and hopefully Universal Health Care.
That's why I will vote DEMOCRAT, Not Obama, not
Hillary, not Paul, not Nader, not Barr and
certainly not Republican; D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T.

Bush is stealing $220,000,000

No wonder they were so eager to start

It's the biggest theft in Earth's history.

Some people celebrate Bush's bloody oil war...
Some don't.

We now have 4,092

How do we

Iraq's

Where's that money going?
Bush has killed more Americans than Osama.

I lost a lot of friends and subscribers a for having loyalty to the
Clintons.
Now I could lose a lot more friends and subscribers for keeping my
word
to support the Democratic nominee, once we had one.
If you think it's wrong to punish someone for being loyal

Subject: Donation - hang in there
Bart, I'm just a democrat who'll vote for the
party's nominee and hope
to boot the republicans out of office.
That's all that matters to me.
A lot of people lost their way this primary election.
They were driven insane or something, it's been
crazy.
I was an Edwards supporter so after he left the
race I was left on the sidelines
watching a bunch of crazy Obama and Clinton supporters
rip each other up.
It was like watching a married couple where you
like both of them
beat each other up in a vicious argument.
Man that was ugly.
But who cares now, let's just beat the republicans.
