"It terrifies me the thought that Obama might

might be in the Oval Office, might
be the leader of the free world..."
-- James Dobson, top pinhead at Focus
on the Handjob Link
Hey James, what are you afraid of?
Are you thinking he might lie us into losing 3 bloody wars, killing
4100 soldiers?
Are you thinking he might bankrupt our country and break our
military?
Are you worried he might turn the whole world against us?
Only a real fuck-up would do that...

Obama angers
his base
Link
Excerpt:
When John Edwards dropped out, the progressive
Netroots took their affections to Obama.
But with his support of the new FISA bill that
offers retroactive immunity to telecommunications
companies - a bill that he vowed last year
to filibuster - the honeymoon has ended.
Disappointed over his position on the FISA Act,
the online activists feel jilted and betrayed
and have taken to questioning his progressive
credentials. One prominent blogger, Atrios,
has even given him the moniker "Wanker of the
Day."
"He broke faith," said Matt Stoller, a political
consultant and blogger at OpenLeft.com.
"Obama pledged to filibuster, and he is part
of that old politics, in this case, that he said he wasn't.
It will spur us to challenge him."
When asked at Wednesday's press conference why he changed his mind,
Obama said the bill had changed so his position changed.
Subject: angry with Obama
He now supports the FISA "compromise."
I don't know that this FISA thing is the worst
thing to happen in our fucked up political
situation this month, maybe I just find it emblematic
of the state of the union as a whole
but I'm really finding this one to be particularly
hard to swallow.
I'm pretty close to making it my personal deal
breaker.
Robert J
The Democrats have betrayed the public trust as
badly as the Republicans. We have been
USED badly by Pelosi and Reid. Obama
will not make a strong stand on this. I can only
believe that they have common interests to protect,
and that it doesn't matter who is elected.
Steve
Bart,
I have to admit, I was pretty pissed when you
went for Hillary.
I even stopped donating to your site because
of it.
Now here I am eating dirt.
Obama is a total sell-out with no spine.
There is no "hope" or "change". It was all a
load of crap.
Deanna
Deanna, this is why I said a Hillary victory would kill bartcop.com
If Hillary had won, then changed her mind on that FISA deal, I would
have
lost half my subscribers in one day, so I thank Koresh things didn't
work out.
Truth is, Obama was seen my many/most people as the "perfect candidate,"
so now that he seems less-than-perfect, those people are super-disappointed.
It's much too early to give up on Obama.
Hell, he hasn't even taken office yet :)
Quotes
"Tea leaf readers note that Chuck Schumer also
announced today that he's voting
against the FISA bill. Will
Hillary follow suit? It seems like a huge opening for her
to repair relations with progressives angry
with her over her treatment of Obama
during the primary. On the other hand, some
Dems note a complicating factor:
If Hillary votes against the bill, it could
cast a bit of a shadow over the planned
"unity" Hillary-Obama event on Friday.
--
Josh Marshall, Link
So, when Hillary and Obama share the stage today,
Hillary will be the liberal - and Obama is defending the status
quo?

"Retroactive immunity is on the table today...
What is at stake is an open debate
on security and liberty...This bill does not
say, 'Trust the American people; Trust the
courts and judges and juries to come to just
decisions.' Retroactive immunity sends a
message that is crystal clear...And that message
comes straight from Bush's mouth.
'Trust
me.'...What is the basis for that trust? I don't think you
can hold the rule
of law in any greater contempt than sanctioning
torture..."

Good question, and it's just like pour Democrats to remain silent on
that, but then,
remember how they remained silent when two super-rich oil men from
Texas ran on

Maybe Democrats should change their name to the

Russert
was among the Worst
by Gene Lyons
Link
Excerpt:
Like Paris Hilton, many D. C. courtierjournalists
are famous largely for being famous.
I once asked a TV news director for a raise.
He tried flattery, saying viewers treasured
my poor man's Andy Rooney act. I scoffed. Then
he got real.
"Look," he said, "we could find a wino under a
bridge, buy him a suit, teach him
to read a TelePrompTer and make him a star."
The station was paying all it could.
We parted ways amicably.
Russert was among the worst. Like most, he obsessed
over Bill Clinton's sexual sins,
but handled the Bush administration's Iraq war
propaganda like the Baltimore Catechism:
Memorize, regurgitate.
(That sounds a little familiar)
Linda Hirshman nails it in The Nation: "The political
leaders who did the best answering
Russert's questions in the last seven years -
Rumsfeld, Cheney and Powell - are the authors
of the most disastrous American foreign policy
since Vietnam and maybe since 1776.
The Russert Test was a disaster because it rewarded
people willing to lie unabashedly on TV."
And that's the truth.
Excellent work, Gene.
I'm ready to let Russert go but Gene Lyons has been white hot lately
and his truthful observations on our worst media whores must not be
ignored.

Subject: Pope conspiracy
Bart,
Would you explain to me why you keep depicting
the Pope
as RUNNING some sort of child abuse network?
Gonzalo
What word would you rather I use?
Like Bush and Vito Corleone, I doubt the Pope is very "hands on,"
but his reluctance to stop the systematic rapes is appalling beyond
f-ing belief.
Isn't he supposed to be a man of God?
Priest rapes a 7 year old, Church writes the family a check and moves
the priest to a
new parish that has no idea what kind of monster just became the kids'
new "friend."
Priest rapes a dozen 9 year olds, Church writes the families a check
and moves the priest
to a new parish that has no idea what kind of monster just became the
kids' new "friend."
Priest rapes an entire class of second graders, Church writes the families
a check and moves
the priest to a new parish that has no idea what kind of monster just
became the kids' new "friend."
Excuse me...
If McDonald's managers were systematically raping children at Playland,
and the McDonald's
corporation moved those managers to new locations where they raped
even more children,
America would demand that every McDonald's be immediately dismantled
and sold for scrap.
But since the Pope endorses these crimes with his devout inaction -
the rapes continue.
Why doesn't that make every Catholic and every American sick?
When they die,
where will God send those who run the Organized Child Rape Empire based
in Rome?
I'm thinking Hell.

Surge Protection
Link
Excerpt:
The notion that we could just waltz in and inject
democracy into an extremely complicated, devout
and ancient culture smacked--still smacks--of
neocolonialist legerdemain. The fact that a great many
Jewish neoconservatives--people like Joe Lieberman
and the crowd over at Commentary--plumped
for this war, and now for an even more foolish
assault on Iran, raised the question of divided loyalties:
using U.S. military power, U.S. lives and money,
to make the world safe for Israel. And then there is
the question--made manifest by the no-bid contracts
offered U.S. oil companies by the Iraqis--of two
oil executives, Bush and Cheney, securing a new
source of business for their Texas buddies.
The surge has reduced violence. We should all
be thrilled about that, but what we're talking about here
is whipped cream on a pile of fertilizer--a regional
policy unprecedented in its stupidity and squalor.

Scholars

Will they find anything on Prescott
Bush?
Link
Excerpt:
From prison brothels to slave labor camps, 15
scholars concluded a two-week probe Thursday
of an untapped repository of millions of Nazi
records, and hailed it as a rich vein of raw material
that will deepen the study of the Holocaust.
It was the first concentrated academic sweep of
the long-private archive administered by the
International Tracing Service since it opened
its doors last November to Holocaust survivors,
victims relatives and historical researchers.
The opening of the files followed pressure from
survivors and from the U.S. Holocaust Museum.
The importance of the archive was highlighted
in a series of stories by The Whore AP, which was
the first news organization to be granted extensive
access to the long-restricted papers.

"But I'll tell you what they don't want...
Yhey don't want a population of citizens capable
of critical thinking. They don't want well-informed,
well-educated people capable of critical
thinking. They're not interested in that.
That doesn't help them. That's against their interests.
They don't want people who are smart enough

how badly they're getting fucked by a system
that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago.
You know what they want? Obedient workers
- people who are just smart enough to run the
machines and do the paperwork but just dumb
enough to passively accept all these increasingly
shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer
hours, reduced benefits, the end of overtime and
the vanishing pension that disappears the
minute you go to collect it. And, now, they're coming
for your Social Security. They want your fucking
retirement money. They want it back, so they
can give it to their criminal friends on Wall

They'll get it all, sooner or later, because

Subject: How to bring $30 barrel
oil back!!!
Dear Bart:
The solution for high gas prices is SO simple:
1) Our leaders need to announce to the world we
will now RATION gas as in WWII.
People living where there is no public transporation
(subways, buses) would get more
ration points, people living near subways, buses
would get fewer ration points.
If we announced this to the world and oil
would fall back down to much lower prices.
2) New laws requiring all oil drilled on American
Soil must be sold to refineries here only.
Most oil drilled in Alaska is sold for big money
to the Japanese!!!!
3) American Oil Companies would be taxed heavily,
using that money for the government
to partially fund the cost of gasoline to give
the American consumers a break. If Venezuela,
Indochina can make their gas 99 cents a gallon
(or less!) for their consumers why in hell can't we?
4) Shore up the strength of the dollar against
foreign currencies....
Just a few ideas...thanks, Bart...
Len in GA
But Len, our government is owned by BIG OIL.
No way they'll give up their stolen billions to do the right thing.

No ice at the North Pole
Is your house is on fire, you act, right?
Link
Excerpt:
It seems unthinkable, but for the first time
in human history,
ice is on course to disappear entirely from the
North Pole this year.
The disappearance of the Arctic sea ice, making
it possible to reach the Pole
sailing in a boat through open water, would be
one of the most dramatic - and
worrying - examples of the impact of global warming
on the planet. Scientists
say the ice at 90 degrees north may well have
melted away by the summer.
"From the viewpoint of science, the North Pole
is just another point on the globe,
but symbolically it is hugely important. There
is supposed to be ice at the North Pole,
not open water," said Mark Serreze of the US
Snow and Ice Data Centre in Colorado.

Olbermann:
Then and now
by some dude at Salon
Link
Excerpt:
The real danger is that those who defend a man
as the Candidate no matter what he does are likely to
defend a man as President no matter what he does,
too. If we learn in 2009 that our new president has
invoked his claimed Article II powers to spy
on Americans outside of even the new FISA law, are we
going to hear from Olbo that he was justified
in doing so to protect us; how it's a good, shrewd move to
show he's a centrist and keep his approval ratings
high so he can do all the Good things for us; how it's
different when our new president does it because
we can trust him? It certainly looks that way. Those
who spent the last five years mauling Bush for
"shredding the Constitution" and approving of lawbreaking
-- only to then praise Obama for supporting a
bill that endorses and protects all of that -- are displaying
exactly the type of blind reverence that is more
dangerous than any one political leader could ever be.

Link
Excerpt:
A barrage of bad news including yet another record
high for oil drove stocks sharply lower Thursday,
hurtling the Dow Jones industrials down nearly
360 points to their lowest level in almost two years.
The market also worried about fresh signs of trouble
in the financial, high-tech and automotive industries.
Negative analyst comments sent shares of GM stock
to their lowest point in more than three decades.
Oil futures shot past $140 after the head of OPEC
predicted the price of a barrel of crude could rise
well over $150 this year and Libya said it may
cut oil production. That increases the odds that gasoline
prices, which crossed a nationwide average of
$4 a gallon weeks ago, will extend their advance,
and that goods and services across the economy
will get ever more expensive."
Oil could go to $150
by July 4th.

Enroning
America
Link
Excerpt:
Republicans are funneling billions into the coffers
of their oil baron backers; it's no surprise
Bush and McCain aren't pushing for renewable
energy. The Bush/McCain gas price escalation
is an Enron rerun. It is Chapter 2 of the scam
that Bush crony "Kenny Boy" Lay used in
1999-2001 to steal $100 billion from California
ratepayers.
Now this administration is replicating that crisis
to funnel untold billions into the coffers
of its oil baron backers ... and to push the
failed strategies of offshore drilling and nuke power...
Contrived or otherwise, today's soaring gas prices
are a tangible bonanza for Bush/McCain.
Offshore drilling would put billions in their
cronies' pockets but would not lower gas prices.
Nuke power could mean billions more in radioactive
lucre for reactor builders who may
never deliver a single electron of electricity."
The Bush Bastards will continue to screw America and the world until
someone says "Stop!"
Know where we can find somebody willing to do that?

I'm sure Barack will learn from his mistakes.

Bartcop, it's not a problem and I've got to hand
it to a guy
who quits his job to start a 24/7 hammer-the-BFEE
blog.
The old job at the car lot didn't pay much, anyway
:)
What if we take the Wal-Mart approach to OPEC
and tell them,
"Look, we're your biggest consumer, but you're
gouging us!
Going forward, we're not going to pay any more
than US$50 a barrel,
and if you don't like that you can try selling
it somewhere else."
At first I'm sure that my idea will be met with
much arrogance and disagreement,
and then they'll notice that they're not selling
as much oil as they used to.
We're hooked on oil.
You know it, I know it, Bob Dole knows it, the
American people know it.
But paying a fourfold increase in just a few
years is not something we should just roll over and accept.
Whaddya think? Am I smarter than a fifth
grader?
Did I pass the POTUS entrance exam?
Jeff in Seattle
Jeff, you're smarter than the President :)
You have a good idea, but we also need to back up the bluff.
The next president should say "We'll be import-oil
free in ten years,"
and then explain to the Saudis that we'll share out new technology
with everybody
and that means the Sauds will have to eat and drink their worthless
f-ing oil.
The idiot Saudis have a monopoly on the technology of the past
and once we make our move into the future - they're screwed.
Clinton didn't have this problem because we were drowning in cheap
oil.
But since the Oil Bastards stole power, we suddenly have an "oil crisis."
Greedy, greedy sons of bitches...
Cheney's a billionaire near death - and STILL he wants more.
But why should they stop if nobody asks them to?

Lara Logan
Sex Triangle!!
Our two best reporters, banging in Baghdad
Link
Excerpt:
CBS' Lara Logan was involved in a Baghdad love
triangle with a married contractor
and CNN international correspondent Michael Ware,
the New York Whore Post claims.
The National Enquirer reported the news of Logan's
Baghdad sex life, and implicated her
as the cause of the State Department contractor's
divorce. And while it named the contractor
- Joe Burkett - it only described Ware as a "star
CNN correspondent."
Passions got so hot in the combat zone that one
of her lovers, Joe Burkett, brawled in
a Baghdad "safe house" with Michael Ware, a source
said.
I really like Lara Logan, so anything I write will be criticized, but
if I'm Micheal Ware,
and I've been living in Bush's Baghdad for five years and a woman as
pretty as Lara Logan
puts a move on me I'm going "all in" for some hot monkey sex because
in Bush's Baghdad,
you never know which day is going to be your last.

Bush is stealing up to 6 million barrels of
oil per day.
Since oil sells for $130 or more per barrel,
Bush is stealing $780,000,000
every
day.
No wonder they were so eager to start
a war,
It's the biggest theft in Earth's history.
4,113
brave men and women are gone.
Do you think Bush understands
that these are real people ?
Remember...
Iraq's
oil wells have NO
METERS!
That's 3/4
of $1B that
goes missing
every day!
Where's that money going?
