Quotes
"American voters tend to reward politicians
who take clear stands. When Obama takes
these mushy positions, it could speak
to a character issue. Voters that don't pay a lot of
attention look at one thing: 'Does
the guy believe in something?' They may be saying
the guy is afraid of his own shadow."
-- David Sirota, once severely in the tank for Obama,
Link
I wrote to Sirota a year ago and asked if he planned to support
the Democratic nominee.
Like a coward, he refused to answer.

Would the
White House be Able to
Eavesdrop
on Obama Under the
FISA Bill
Barack Supports? You Bet.
buzzflash.com
Excerpt:
Plus, electronic voting is essentially tied to
the phone lines because all votes cast in individual precincts
must pass through the phone lines on their way
to be tabulated at the main tabulation center. This makes
it possible to electronically reconfigure votes
before they even arrive at a central tabulation point by
embedding the appropriate software in the lines,
thereby destroying the prospect of a fair election outcome.
The Obama Campaign may be assuming that such electronic
manipulation of votes will not happen,
but this may be wishful thinking given what we
now know about how far this administration will go
to get what it wants - and what it clearly wants
is to see John McCain "win" the election.
It's strange - seeing Buzzflash 'attack' Obama after a year of worship.

Subject: McCain is boring
Some people think that McCain's age is a big problem
for him but I don't agree.
I think his problem is that he's just plain boring.
McCain tries to talk like a maverick but then
he folds on every issue he tries to stand up for.
McCain has contradicted himself so many times
that nothing he says has any meaning.
McCain just the same old same old and if you've
heard one politician you've heard them all.
Twisting an old Al Gore joke, John McCain is
so boring that his secret service code name is Bob Dole.
(For those of you remember who Bob Dole is.)

"Continuation of Bush's faith based initiatives
means I'm not voting for BO now.
There's been far too much religious influence
in the public sector at the federal level
for the past 8 years. I let the Rev. Wright
"I didn't know" thing slide but I'm done now."
--Bob,
"I couldn't help noticing today that Obama
is pushing faith-based initiatives.
Wait a minute - wasn't this what the current
incumbent, wanted? Is that OK now?
Why? Because we trust Obama? I've been
around long enough not to trust anyone.
Does that make me a racist? Wow, what a brave
new world we live in."
-- Rutene,
"Obama and his camp are lost when they can't
blame Hillary or can't play the race card
(their security blanket). What will they do
when Obama will no longer be seen as a victim?"
-- Riley,
"Obama gets scarier and scarier. Can you believe
Arianna Huffington is now upset that
he is moving to the center? Pretty laughable.
One wonders what lens she and her people
were looking through for the past 16 months
that made them think Obama had one honest,
sincere bone in his body. For the incredibly
gullible, I guess Obama's defection from liberal
left wing ideology to whatever might win votes
today is pretty shocking."
-- Susan
By the way, have you heard Big Eddie or Randi
lately?
Big Ed is shocked out of his shoes, but Randi
has flipped with Obama.
For every new position Obama takes, Randi's right
there to tell you that either:
It's not
really a flip-flop, it just looks like one
or
It's good that he flip-flopped
because his new position is better.
How do these people maintain any level of credibility?
At least Big Eddie is expressing some shock...

Subject: Perspective
Hey Bart my theory is that some of us who are
over the age of 50 tend not to immediately buy into
all the inevitable hype and promises of political
superstars like Obama, having seen it all before.
I actually feel bad for the young people who feel
so passionately about wanting "change"
only to get hit in the face with the old cosmic
cream pie of predictable outcomes.
That said,Obama is still really the only decent
choice left on the board.
A McCain victory is just too damn ugly to even
think about.

McCain &
Swiftboat bastards
Link
Excerpt:
John McCain, who four years ago condemned independent
ads challenging Kerry's military record,
has accepted nearly $70,000 for his presidential
campaign from the top donors of the group behind
the attack ads and their relatives, a USA TODAY
analysis shows.
In 2004, the Swift Boat Donkey Blowers bankrolled
ads charging that Kerry had lied about the incidents
in Vietnam that led to his military decorations.
The group included former members of the Navy who served
in the same kind of river patrol boats as Kerry.
McCain, a former Vietnam prisoner of war, called the group's
advertising "dishonest and dishonorable."
Kerry, being a coward and a quitter, refused to deny the charges
so the stupider-than-dirt voters figured they
were true and semi-re-elected the Bloody Monkey.

Eight months ago, you were busy clutching your
pearls because democrats were not
wholeheartedly supporting the 'leader in the
polls' and the only democrat who has a chance.
Now that we have a presumptive nominee, your site
is full of
articles linked to every 'mistake' Obama is making.
Who would have thought that would be the case?
Jason
Jason I have no idea what you meant to say, so I have to guess:
Are you saying Obama has not done a series of turnarounds or
reversals lately
and that I'm just making stuff up because I don't like the guy?
Or are you saying Obama has done a series of turnarounds or reversals
lately
but nobody is upset about it and you wonder why I claim they are?
Or are you saying Obama has done a series of turnarounds or reversals
lately and Huffy,
KOS, Big Edie and MoveOn are pissed about it, but
I shouldn't cover that story?
You say *I* am pointing out every "mistake" Obama is making while simultaneously
ignoring (dare I say it?) the flood of criticism
that's come his way AND refusing to
take a stand on whether you agree with Obama or his backers-turned-critics.
Are you one of those people who doesn't have a point of view,
but you're certain MY point of view is wrong, whatever it might be?

Subject: Chuck's 'calm down'
e-mail
As per Chuck's email, I think the main point
of difference between you two was this:
It was obvious to me and Chuck that Moyers'
comment
> "And now the bottom line turns out to be....the
bottom line. It is about oil."
was pure sarcasm, not a journalistic conclusion.
Chuck failed to mention that, but it jumped out
at me when I read the page.
I'm pretty sure you knew Moyers was being sarcastic,
too, but it didn't seem like you
were willing to give Moyers the benefit of the
doubt. Or else you were taking him at
his verbatim unfiltered word.
That's your only 'mistake' in this discussion,
and I completely forgive you for it.
Mighty magnanimous of me, eh?
Beatnik Bob
It's just my personal preference, but I
don't think serious journalists should be funny
or cute or ironic or sarcastic. I
don't want to hear their jokes or sappy stories, either.
I just wants some facts.
I also want them to be smarter than me, and that doesn't happen
very often.
After "honest," a reporter's most important job is to be clear.
If I didn't catch Moyer's sarcastic wink, I say that's his
fault.

"We're beginning to understand why Obama keeps
protesting so vigorously against the
prospect of 'George Bush's third term.' Maybe
he's worried that someone will notice that
he's the candidate who's running for it. Most
Presidential candidates adapt their message
after they win their party nomination, but
Mr. Obama isn't merely 'running to the center.'
He's fleeing from many of his primary positions
so markedly and so rapidly that he's
embracing a sizable chunk of President Bush's
policy. Who would have thought that a
Democrat would rehabilitate the much-maligned
Bush agenda?"

the SC ruling on guns in DC.
I know you own guns, and have taken issue with
those who dont see an individual
right to own guns, but you have to be pretty
much in agreement with the ruling:
gun restrictions are ok, complete handgun outlawing
isnt.
i know its the 5 judges you hate most but doesn't
the
blind pig/truffle argument work here? (aka the
jamie gold theory)
chris in fl
Chris, I haven't commented on it because I haven't
had time to get into it.
IF the ruling meant
that cities and states have no legal right to override the Constitution,
(I know, the 2nd Amendment is written more poorly
than bartcop.com) then I'm OK
with the ruling because I'd hate to live in a
place where I couldn't have a gun or two.
If we lived in a country with fewer than 200 million
guns, I might have
a different view but why argue about that which
isn't possible?
This country is full of crazies.

alleys at night.

Bush is
a jobs serial killer
Link
Excerpt:
About 62,000
jobs disappeared in June, the sixth consecutive month that payrolls have
declined,
as businesses rushed to lay off workers amid
the worst economic climate in a generation.
And as job losses mount, employers are cutting
hours for their full-time employees and shrinking
salaries, just as workers face record-high prices
for gasoline and food.
The Labor Department said job losses for the
year so far are 438,000.
McCain has an answer - more tax cuts for the super-rich,
job creation, and investment in innovation..
Can you believe that?
MORE tax cuts for the super-rich?
Are they paying any taxes at all after 8 years
of cuts and Bush giveaways?
And McCain, always the genius, called for "job
creation?"
What does that mean?
Put a tooth under your pillow and hope the job
creation fairy shows up?
And WTF is "investment in innovation?"
Is McCain going to walk into a Sears and ask
for $25 worth of investment in innovation?
You'd think Obama could win this blindfolded.

Weak &
Stupid VS North Korea
Link
Excerpt:
After seven years of nonstop belligerence, the
Bush administration has caved in to all of North Korea's
demands and gotten nothing in return. None of
the main objectives have been achieved. At the same time,
Kim will continue to develop his long-range ballistic-missile
delivery system, the Taepodong 2, and (allegedly)
continue to export nuclear weapons technology
to allies in the Middle East and elsewhere.
Now the blustery bravado and swaggering insolence
has changed to hand-wringing and hyperactive
backroomdiplomacy. The Bush team has shifted
from its ritual chest-thumping to damage-control.
Unfortunately, the change comes too late.
On Thursday, Bush announced that he would remove
North Korea from the terrorism list and lift
other economic sanctions. This follows an earlier
decision to provide Kim with massive quantities of oil
to meet the North's energy needs; a fact that
is predictably ignored by the establishment media.
On virtually every issue, Kim has gotten whatever
he's asked for. This has infuriated many of Bush's
biggest supporters. Last week, former UN ambassador
John Bolton blasted his old boss saying:
"I think it's actually a clear victory for North
Korea."
Weak and stupid is a bad combination for a president.

"Wesley Clark is now and always has been a
Clinton-type, but this is pretty revolting.
This kind of personal attack was repulsive
coming against Kerry from the far right.
And it's repulsive the other way round. Both
Kerry and McCain served their country
honorably; and their records should be revered,
period."
-- Andrew Sullivan,
Hey Shithead, it's not a "personal attack"
to question a man's qualifications to lead the planet.
Nobody asked that when your hero stole
power - and look what happened..
"It's an example of the fatuous McCain worship
that is the bread and butter of the Washington
press corps that Wes Clark's comments this
weekend on Face the Whore are being called
'swift-boating'. It's almost comical, but
not much less than Bob Schieffer's incredulous responses
to the fact that Clark had the temerity to
argue that McCain's experience as a Navy pilot and
a POW don't necessarily mean he'd be a good
president."
-- Josh Marshall,
Well, we all know how fair and unbiased
that whore Bob Schieffer is.
"This is fast-becoming one of those Washington
stories where Clark sails alone.
Please, find me a single Democrat who thinks
it's good politics to call into question
the military credentials of a man who spent
five-and-a-half years as a prisoner of war."
-- Jake Tapper, who I used to like before he turned cabana-boy for Disney's
ABC News
Jake, go fuck yourself.
In February, only one month into his command, he was shot four
times by a Viet Cong soldier
with an AK-47. The wounded Clark shouted orders to his men,
who counterattacked and defeated
the Viet Cong force. Clark had injuries to his right shoulder,
right hand, right hip, and right leg.
He was awarded the Silver Star (already had a Bronze) for
his actions during the encounter. Link

Thursday, their TOP HEADLINE was some asshole bitching about Brent

I didn't have time to get into it, but this prick was sniping

Excerpt:
But would it really be so wrong if the Packers
asked him to kindly shut his yapper?
But when Brett Favre steadfastly refuses to say,
"No, I'm not coming back," and we have
incidents like we had yesterday, when Chris Mortensen
set the whole world abuzz with his
"Brett Favre feels itchy!" report, it doesn't
just affect Favre. It affects the entire Packers organization.
This little turd's opinion on Brent Favre is THE top story in America
