McCain fires
Econ Advisor Gramm
Turns out Bush's recession is real, not 'mental'
Link
Excerpt:
McCain is definitely done trotting his friend
Phil Gramm out on the campaign trail,
and he is minimizing the Texan's role among his
team of advisers.
Gramm had played an important part in crafting
McCain's economic plan, and he occasionally
appeared at rallies or spoke to editorial boards
on McCain's behalf, but no longer, after Gramm
said that the country was filled with "whiners"
and we're merely in a "mental recession."
Today, McCain economics adviser Carly Fiorina
spoke for him: "McCain
has been real clear that his
economics advisor Phil Gramm wasn't speaking
for him on economics. I don't think Senator Gramm,
our economics advisor, will any longer be speaking
for McCain. I think McCain was crystal clear
all this week that his spokesmen don't speak
for him," said McCain's latest and current spokesman.

McCain Chairman
Gay Sex Scandal
For Republicans, there's no sex like gay dude sex
Link
Excerpt:
The McCain campaign's Alabama chairman, Attorney
General Troy King, the virulent homophobe
who is the subject of rumors that his wife discovered
him having sex with another man, was a client
of Strategum USA, the consulting firm of Ralph
Gonzalez, a closeted gay GOP political operative
who was killed last summer in a double murder-suicide
in his home in Orlando.
Gonzalez was also the one-time campaign manager/consultant
for Florida's hard-right, scandal-plagued
24th Congressional District U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney
whose close ties to Jack Abramoff and involvement
in an alleged electronic vote-rigging conspiracy
have been reported extensively for years by Brad Blog.
McCain
has scrubbed all references to King from his website without offering a
public reason.
If they were honest about who they were, there'd be no reason for murder/suicide.

Subject: Obama needs Hillary
With Obama's problems, I bet he wishes the
Dem Primary was still going
so the media could focus on bashing Hillary
instead of him.
Ever since the primary ended, he has been
falling falling falling.
I don't see that he has any choice now,
but to make Hillary his VP.
Then, the PUMA movement will end and we
can get to some serious unity.
Sheryl
Can Obama fill Invesco Field without Hillary's half of the party?
I think it was a mistake for him to announce that he'd accept
the nomination there.
You never announce that your band is going to play Shae
Stadium,
then move the gig to Roseland Ballroom when ticket sales
are lackluster.
You always announce your band is playing Roseland,
THEN you move it to Shae "when ticket sales go thru the roof."
If a small crowd shows up - or worse - Kos, Huffy and MoveOn show
up to protest,
"some staffer" is going to be blamed for moving the speech to
Invesco.
Team Obama could use Ol' Bart's advice.
Sidebar:
And another thing - recently I said Obama should stop speaking
and take a loooong vacation.
The newest poll numbers (which you really can't trust) says he
lost 12 points in 30 days.
If he keeps going down this path, McCain might be ahead by nine
on August 15th.
Team Obama could use Ol' Bart's advice.

Hillary
as Vice President?
It could heal a lot of open wounds
Link
Excerpt:
The magic solution is the vice presidency. It
heals all the wounds immediately,' Buell said.
"The smartest thing that Obama could do is to
make Hillary the vice presidential candidate," Forester agreed.
For her part, Iscol poured water on the notion
that women could be similarly moved by the presence of
another female candidate on the ticket, such
as KS Governor Kathleen Sebelius. "Women aren't fungible,"
she said. "You don't just exchange one for the
other."
"It was a total outrage that the leadership of
the party allowed Bill Clinton to be cast as a racist. It was such
an injustice -- so stupid and so wrong and so
offensive," Forester said. 'If he wants to unite the party and bring
the true centrists back...Obama better worry
about Bill Clinton's legacy...There's a lot he can do at the convention
to prove his respect for both Clintons. That
would be very, very welcome. If that were done, it would be inevitable
that millions of people would support Obama with
time, money and votes.'"
Will Obama choose to win with the Clintons?
Or will he choose the path Al Gore took?

Subject: Obama and FISA
While I was saddened to see the vote cast
by Obama for the FISA bill, I am enough of a realist
to understand that he was playing the political
game. His vote alone would have made no difference
but WOULD have given McCain and the Republican
machine a way to spin things MORE in their favor.
Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, is no
longer a candidate for the presidency. As such,
she can vote on principals and only have
to worry about her Senate re-election bid.
Greg & Betty
If you gave Hillary that exact same benefit
of the doubt on her "Iraq war vote,"
nobody could accuse you of being a hypocrite.
But notice how nobody on the Left
is demanding an apology from Obama
the way they demanded an apology from Hillary
on her Iraq vote all those years ago.
It's almost like the Clintons are held to
a higher standard.

Bush wants
more drilling
Greedy oil men can never have enough
Gas used to cost less than $2 a gallon, then the Bush bastards stole
power.
They gave Afghanistan an ultimatum: "A carpet
of gold or a carpet of bombs."
Osama didn't like being bullied, so he struck first.
Then the Bush bastards invaded Saddam so they could steal Iraq's oil.
He claimed (after the WMDs) that we invaded "to protect our interests."
What are "our interests" if not cheap gas prices?
Isn't Bush's quagmire a failure in that regard, too?
Gas should've fallen to $1 a gallon - why else are our soldiers
dying?
Now gas costs $4 and the Bush bastards, who screwed everything,
say they know the answer: Let us drill more wherever we like.
Soon, gas will be $8 a gallon.
If only we had a party that would stand up to these crazy thieving
bastards.

look at us - we serve at the pleasure of the President!"

Subject: Obama
Clearly Obama is a Politician who wants power?
Either he's a complete loon, and getting advice
from a cabal of incompetents, or...
How much do you suppose an evil empire that's
been making
a hundred million a day could afford to pay a
pug to take a dive?
Have you looked at what being president *does*
to a man?
They get old and tired and hated. Who'd
want that job when they could just
collect a billion or so in unmarked bills and
never have to worry about anything ever again?
Again, I display my paucity of imagination (I
couldn't imagine how the American Voter could
vote for Bush, the stumbling dry drunk, over
Al Gore, the future Nobelist), but I can't see how
any man could fuck up a campaign so quickly as
Obama.
He's fallen back to even, within the margin of
error, with McCain, a Republican.
In 2008.
It is not possible to lose to a Republican in
2008, but Obama's making a real run at it.
Is there anything else that could explain it?
Peter Y
I'm certain Obama is not a Republican plant.
I think he's smart, but inexperienced and he's making a ton of schoolboy
gaffes.
If he would just stop talking for 2-3 weeks, the whore media would watch
McCain
and his mistakes would be magnified instead of competing with Obama's
mistakes.
I don't remember if I printed it or not, but someone suggested in a
column that Obama told us
long ago that he wasn't going to be like the others, that he's really
going to reach out and do
a bunch of Republican stuff and that's what he always promised he was
going to do.
If that's true (nobody knows) it would make a mockery of his primary
position,
that Hillary was "more of the same" and he was the true liberal in
the race.
I heard Obama say the other day that the liberal label was "hung
on me by others,"
which kinda pissed me off because he clearly led the Kos-MoveOn-Huffy
crowd
to think he was a good, old-fashioned liberal with none of that triangulation/Clinton
stuff.
I hope he's able to fill that stadium...
Maybe he can get Bruce or Bon Jovi to open for him :)

Rush Limbaugh
was right?
No, Rush and Salon got it wrong again
Link
Excerpt:
The Bush era has made liberals so terrified of
right-wing smears
it has caused them to completely lose their sense
of humor.
That's the only conclusion I can draw after witnessing
the left-wing
blogosphere's bizarre reaction to the New Yorker
cover.
To judge from the reaction of much of the left,
you'd think that New Yorker
Magazine was waging an insidious Semiotic War
against Obama.
I don't think this writer gets it.
He's saying the smart people will get the joke,
but that's what - 20%?
If the smart people ruled America, Gore would
be finishing his second term,
the Twin Towers would still be standing and 4120
military families would still be whole.
We'd have a surplus, gas would still be at $1.80
a gallon and the world wouldn't hate us.
It's real easy to sit in a skyscraper in New York
and pretend you have all the answers,
but America is a scared, racist nation and that
Obama toon could turn a few states away.
The Salon guy knows that he's smarter and better
than you and me
and he didn't want today's sun to set without
you knowing that.

Obama Cover
shows Iron Deficiency
Unless we lose, he means...
Link
Excerpt:
We've already scratched thrift, candor and brevity
off the list, so why not eliminate humor too?
That seems to be the fondest wish of a few commentators
and legions of Internet blatherers,
who spent Monday vilifying New Yorker magazine
for this week's Obama-terrorist cover.
It seemed fairly obvious to me, my 8-year-old
and, likely, the majority of readers of one of
America's finest magazines that the cover drawing
by Barry Blitt was a parody.
He's lying.
Maybe he saw irony, and maybe the majority of New Yorker Magazine
readers saw irony,
but his eight year old and the majority of the super-stupid
voters, saw "Obama, the terrorist."
Who thinks the majority of Americans are smart?
Who thinks the majority of Americans are not prejudiced?
Who thinks the majority of Americans understand irony?
Who thinks the majority of Americans take their vote seriously?
I say millions of Americans will see that cover and say,
"They couldn't print it if it
wasn't true."
How can I be the only one who knows how stupid most Americams are?
If Americans have brains, how did this asshole become president - twice?
The writer of this piece lives in LA.
The writer of the first pro-irony column lives in New York.
When will the Democrats understand that we already won Cali and
New York?
It's the 48 other stupid states that prevent the smart people from
running the planet.
Jesus, I need a drink...

Tillman
Coverup Continues
BFEE can't remember what happened
Link
Excerpt:
A "striking lack of recollection" by White House
and military officials prevented investigators from
determining who was responsible for the lies
spread after the friendly fire death of Pat Tillman.
Although investigators determined within days
that Tillman was killed by his own troops,
five weeks passed before the circumstances of
his death were made public. During that time,
the Army claimed Tillman was killed by enemy
fire.
Rep. Henry Waxman, who strikes out every time
he comes to bat, said in April 2007 that
his goal was to discern the genesis of the misinformation.
"Was it the result of incompetence,
miscommunication or a deliberate strategy?" he
said.
The panel acknowledged Monday it had fallen short
of this goal. The committee interviewed
several top White House officials about the case,
but "not a single one could recall when he
learned about the fratricide or what he did in
response," it said in its 48-page report.
So, another day, another loss for the incompetent Democrats.
Had this been a blow job, the entire weight of the federal government
would've smothered
the players to get to the truth. An "independent" prosecutor would've
been appointed and
he'd be given unlimited time, unlimited powers and unlimited scope
- with nobody to answer to.
But since it was just a murder of our most famous Ranger, and a conspiracy
to coverup
that senseless murder, the Democrats - once
again - can't figure a way to get the job done.
If this keeps up (Should I bother to finish this sentence?) why
would the voters trust such inept
and incompetent bunglers to take the reigns of government in November?
How can the minority
always outwit and outplay the majority? Why does that
prick Jim Inhofe have more power
than Obama, Ted Kennedy, Joe Biden and Chris Dodd combined?
Bush and his Fascist 22 percent control everything while the
other 78 percent of us look
at the pink tutu Democrats and wonder how they could've lost every
bit of sac they ever had?
"The Democrats
are right - no need to find out
who
killed me and why. Forget about me and
let
my killers go free. I'm not worth the trouble.
Oh,
and screw my family, ...right Democrats?"
Every day we have a new reason to be disgusted with the Democrats.

Subject: Define success
Everybody is claiming that the surge was a big
success.
I suppose it depends on your definition of "success."
If you start with a disaster and you throw more
men and money at it
and it becomes slightly less of a disaster, is
that a success?
That's how Bush, McCain,
and the news media define success,
but it's not how the American people define success.
Iraq is a failure. We are losing the war.
We are just losing more slowly than we were a
year ago.
But to use the work "success" to describe the
surge just isn't true.
