Obama draws a crowd in Germany
  Estimates of 200,000 or more

 Link

 Excerpt:
Standing before a massive crowd in a city that once symbolized division, Sen. Obama warned
Thursday about the dangers of allowing new walls to come between the United States and its allies.

"People of the world, look at Berlin, where a wall came down, a continent came together, and history
proved that there is no challenge too great for a world that stands as one," Obama said.

"The fall of the Berlin Wall brought new hope. But that very closeness has given rise to new dangers,
dangers that cannot be contained within the borders of a country or by the distance of an ocean," he said.

The crowd spilled away from the Column for blocks. Police spokesman Bernhard Schodrowski
said the speech drew more than 200,000 people.    Transcript of Speech

I think it's funny that America's whore press was unable to downplay the size of the crowd.
In this type of situation, our lying whore press usually says, "Thousands of people showed up
and there were war supporters there as well," implying the crowd was 50-50.

Don't you hate it that we can't get honest news from our whore press here in America?

Bush's DOW continues to Crash
Down another 283 under Greed Monkey management

 Link

 Excerpt:
Wall Street abruptly ended an earnings-driven rally and closed sharply lower Thursday after a
steeper-than-expected decline in existing home sales and worries about the financial sector chilled
the market's recent optimism. The Dow Jones industrial average lost more than 275 points.

Washington Mutual fell 13 percent after falling 20 percent Wednesday as concerns persisted about
the company's mortgage portfolio. The nation's largest thrift this week posted a $3 billion loss due to
increases in its loss reserves to cover souring loans in its mortgage holdings.

Other financials lost ground. Citigroup fell 9.8 percent, while Merrill Lynch fell 14 percent.
Wachovia declined 11 percent.

I'll bet the DOW goes up the Wednesday after the election.

Subject: Cheney shot down Flight 93?

Could that mean that the story of the "heroes" of Flight 93 is false and that the government
is doing the same thing they did with the Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch stories?

Only a very few people would know the truth about what really happened with Flight 93 making it
much easier to keep a secret in the Flight 93 case.  There are many who know what really happened
in the Tillman case and Jessica Lynch herself exploded the government's story of her rescue.

The only people who would know for certain what happened to Flight 93 are military men
(who could be ordered to say nothing) and truly top level government officials (who would have
a vested interest in keeping it quiet that they purposely shot down a U.S. airliner).

I suppose everyone wanted to believe the story of the "heroes" and maybe that's why it was
such an easy sell.  Nobody wants to believe that your government will kill you to save themselves.
 Dennis in DC

*I* wouldn't want to be the guy who had to give that order,
but can we blame them if they shot down Flight 93?

They could've told the truth about what they did,
but did they have any choice after the first 3 planes hit their targets?

Oil Spill closes Mississippi River
And Bush wants to foul our beaches, too.

 Link

 Excerpt:
Ship traffic on the lower Mississippi River stopped Wednesday as an oil spill from an
accident between a tanker and a barge closed a 47-mile stretch of the nation's major waterway.

The closure is likely to go on for days while remediation teams rush to clean the heavy slick of tar
that is drifting southward, shutting access to all of the facilities of the Port of New Orleans.

"They say it's going to be closed for days but not weeks. It looks like a fairly extended closure,
but we don't have any specifics yet," said Chris Bonura, a spokesman for the port.

'Good faith' torture OK'd by Bush

 Link

 Excerpt:
The Bush bastards told the CIA in 2002 that its interrogators working abroad would not violate
U.S. prohibitions against torture unless they "have the specific intent to inflict severe pain or suffering,"
according to a previously secret Justice Department memo released Thursday.

The interrogator's "good faith" and "honest belief" that the interrogation will not cause such suffering
protects the interrogator, the memo adds.

"Because specific intent is an element of the offense, the absence of specific intent negates the
charge of torture," Jay Bybee, then the assistant attorney general, wrote in the memo.

Another memo says that "waterboarding" does "not violate the Torture Statute."

Well, how about "good faith" refusal to pay taxes?
Well, how about "good faith" rape, murder and bank robbery - are they legal, too?

Unfortunately I don't think he is wrong Bart.  I think McCain will take this race.
It's utterly astounding the number of people I hear say "I won't vote for Obama
because he's an American hating Muslim"

Combine them with the millions of bigots who won't vote for him
simply because he's black and the race is lost.

But I suppose I can "hope" he's wrong too

Young, Gay and Murdered
Coming out at 15 drove the GOP kid to murder

 Link

 Excerpt:
"Brandon kept looking over at Larry," says a student who was in the class that morning.
"He'd look at the book and look at Larry, and look at the book and look at Larry." At 8:30 a.m.,
a half hour into class, Brandon quietly stood up. Then, without anyone's noticing, he removed a
handgun that he had somehow sneaked to school, aimed it at Larry's head, and fired a single shot.
The teacher, who was across the room looking at another student's work, spun around.
"Brandon, what the hell are you doing!" she screamed. Brandon fired at Larry a second time,
tossed the gun on the ground and calmly walked away. Police arrested him a few blocks from
school. Larry was rushed to a hospital, where he died two days later of brain injuries.

Republicans, many of them scared and confused by their own gay thoughts, demonize gays.
They blame God for it, because they have nobody else to blame.

Being gay hurts nobody, but the Karl Roves in the GOP parlayed that fear into votes.
If some kids get killed, or some faggots get beaten with baseball bats, that's OK because
they want their tax cuts and demonizing gays will get the votes of the stupid people.

How did the "greatest country in the world" become so illogical?

Religious insanity - it may end up killing us all.

RNC's Shameless, Hypocritical Attacks

 Link

 Excerpt:
In their continuing attempts to distort Obama's strong pro-Israel record, the RNC insisted that Obama
has an anti-Israel approach to Jerusalem. They could not be further from the truth. Not only is the RNC
attack inaccurate, but it is the height of hypocrisy. In reality, Obama's position on Jerusalem is in line with
the bipartisan consensus among United States leaders and consistent with the position of John McCain.

It began with Obama in Afghanistan, being greeted with thunderous approval by troops there.
None of the perfunctory applause that one hears when the audience has a military duty to show
the commander-in-chief some courtesy; these soldiers jumped up and down, cheered, whooped,
pounded one another on the back, and roared approval when Obama took a basketball and
sank the throw from thirty feet out.

So much for the troops resenting Obama.

Obama is still an unknown quantity
 by Gene Lyons

 Link

 Excerpt:
They look at him, they see a Muslim secret agent cunningly programmed to surrender America to
the terrorists who won't salute the flag, took his oath of office on a Koran and whose wife wants to
kill white people. Before chastising the magazine's hoity-toity attitude, let's stipulate that some fools
do buy this nonsense. As they're surely 21-percenters, however - people who still think Bush is doing
a bang-up job - the political impact is apt to be nil. But if I were making an anti-Obama TV commercial,
I'd definitely secure the rights to Carly Simon's "You're So Vain." As a young literary scholar put it,
"Satire can tell us things about the artist's community that The New Yorker may not have intended."

The cover lampoons the portrait of Obama as an Islamic militant, but it also illuminates some real misgivings
about the many things we just don't know about him behind his hope-y change-y  facade. It gives us a glimpse
of anxieties perhaps even felt by the over-eager media. Most people won't believe the extremist portrait, but
they'll intuitively grasp the uneasiness behind it." The real danger's not that Obama is perceived as a secret agent,
but that he is seen as an unknown quantity, too glib a shape-shifter to be trusted. Despite worshipful media
coverage of his pilgrimage to the Middle East and Europe, that remains a strong possibility.

Technology, Globalization, and Poker

 Link

 Excerpt:
Doyle Brunson observed to Mr. Alvarez that as the game grew more popular and amateur play became
more competent, the professional players would find it difficult to maintain their dominance of tournament play.
Since in tournaments you can't buy more chips when you start to run out of money, the professionals'
big bankrolls wouldn't help them when they hit an unlucky streak.

Mr. Brunson was right, of course, even though he couldn't have foreseen internet poker in 1981. Today you
can play a lot of poker for very little money and develop professional skill. As differences in skill between
amateurs and professionals become smaller the outcome of tournaments comes more and more to depend
on luck. Amateurs can have good luck as easily as a professional can. No one has won consecutive main
events since 1988; between 1970 and 1988 four players won consecutive main events.

Poker changed forever when someone came up with the idea of putting a camera under the table.
That allowed the home viewer to see what everyone had - it made all the difference in the world.

Last year, I paid to watch the WSOP final table live, but since it was live, they didn't show the hole cards
and it was an exercise in boredom. That flash-in-the-pan Jerry Yang kept getting Queens and Kings and
Aces and rolled over the rest of the table - but we couldn't see anything until they turned their cards over.

Despite the fact that they try to tell you that poker is a game of skill, no matter what it comes down to,
poker is still about how the cards fall and whether or not you are lucky enough to have those cards fall
on your side of the table most of the time or not. The only skill that enters into it, is whether on not you
can bluff your opponent when you have crap in the hole, and all that takes is being a good enough liar,
and if you lie like George Bush, you ain't gonna win the game.

their 2005 Halliburton upgrade,
their 2006 Halliburton upgrade,
their 2007 Halliburton upgrade,
their 2008 Halliburton upgrade

Bush is stealing up to 6 million barrels of oil per day.
Since oil sells for $140 or more per barrel,
Bush is stealing $840,000,000 every day.

No wonder they were so eager to start a war,
It's the biggest theft in Earth's history.

but now...
4,125 brave men and women are gone.

4,125 families have been destroyed
because Bush got greedy and McCain
wants to stay another 100 years?

Why are we there?
Because Iraq's oil wells have NO METERS!

That's almost 1B dollars that
goes missing every day!

Where's that money going?
