"It's important not to live in the bubble.
So you've got to be open to outside information, particularly criticism. I'll tell you, I very
rarely read good press and I often read bad press, not because I agree with it but because I
want to get a sense of are there areas where I'm falling short and I can do better." -- our humble new president,
Link
I wonder how long that attitude will last?
I applaud that, but soon he'll be criticized for the way he walks,
for the color of his tie,
for his ears, for his haircut, and the Democrats will pound him
every time he makes a decision.
Excerpt: Obama’s economic recovery plan ran into crossfire
from his own party in Congress on Thursday,
suggesting that quick passage of spending programs
and tax cuts could require more time and
negotiation than Democrats once hoped.
Senate Democrats complained that major components
of his plan were not bold enough and urged
more focus on creating jobs and rebuilding the
nation’s energy infrastructure rather than cutting taxes.
Just hours earlier, Mr. Obama called for speedy
passage of the stimulus measure, warning that
the recession “could linger for years” if Congress
did not pass his plan within weeks.
Further complicating the picture, Democratic backstabbers
said that they would try to attach
legislation to the package that would allow bankruptcy
courts to modify home loans, a move
Republicans have opposed.
Excerpt: No sensible person wants to see the United States
become the kind of country
where "regime change" means flinging the party
out of power into dungeons.
That said, it's nothing short of pathetic to observe
pundits who urged Clinton's impeachment
for lying about a private sexual matter rending
their garments over the prospect of holding
Bush administration insiders responsible for
war crimes including kidnapping, torture and even murder.
Excuse me, make that "extraordinary rendition,"
"enhanced interrogation" and a series of
regrettable accidents. Or something. Even the
Bush administration seems not to have invented
a bureaucratic euphemism for prisoners found
beaten to death in solitary confinement.
"I reported…on December 11 and 12 that there
were no foreign dignitaries booked into Blair House during that period of time...I
have the feeling they asked Howard to come and stay so that there might be some plausible
reason for not letting the Obamas stay there."
-- Margaret Carlson, saying that when the Bush bastards turned down
Obama’s request in
early December, they had not yet even invited Howard to stay at the Blair
House Link
Did you ever see the All in the Family when Sammy
Davis Jr was on?
Sammy drank from Archie's cup and Archie refused to drink after
him,
as tho he might "catch" being Black from the "tainted" cup.
I think we have the same thing here.
The racist sons of bitches didn't want Obama's family to get
their "Blackness"
all over Blair House because - Heavens to Murgatroyd -
what if it didn't come out?
I stopped by a topless bar after work. I hadn’t
been there for a while and I was surprised.
A couple of women were dancing and about fifteen
were just hanging around gabbing and giggling
like school girls. Besides me, there were two
other guys. As usual one of the girls proposed a private
lap dance. I wasn’t interested, but since nothing
else was going on she stayed a moment and we talked.
She said that everyday things are slower than
the day before. The place is near the NY Stock Exchange
and she said that every time another investment

I’m telling ya Bart, the place was so depressing
I just finished my drink and left.
Things are pretty bad when even a girlie bar
doesn’t pick up your spirits!

The first rule of business has always been "Sex

Did Bush kill that, too?
Excerpt: BART is being sued for $25 Million; I would say
make it $50 Billion if it's a realistic number.
Otherwise, they need to cover full damages. There
is no reason for that officer to be walking the streets.
Mehserle needs to be held without bail as he
as an apparent danger to himself and society.
Protests over the BART shooting have already
turned violent. Watch the video.
"We’ve had a count, we’ve had a recount, we’ve

"The race in Minnesota is not over. It’s well-established
in the Senate: The way you get sworn in and the way you get seated

In the current case, it's been two months and Franken has

It's time for Mitch the Bitch and Norm Coleman to pretend they're

Bart, the one thing I find disappointing about
you is that you seem to believe in the Democratic Party
even while asking why they were so helpful to
Bush. You seem genuinely puzzled. Bart, these are not
our parent's Democrats. They went along
because they liked what Bush was doing. They pretended not
to like it for the sake of politics, but they
approved of all of it, including and especially the looting of the
Treasury and of the American people and the transfer
of all that wealth to the existing wealthiest.
There isn't much difference between the Republicans
and the Democrats. Consider this: now the Democrats
have been handed a genuine mandate and the Republicans
have been repudiated by the voters, and yet Reid
and Pelosi and the Democrats in Congress continue
to act as though they are powerless to stop the minority.
The Democrats in Congress, instead of going off
the reservation in support of new ideas
and protecting the American people are standing
silently behind Reid and Pelosi.
We have one party, Bart, and it pretends to be
two.
It's the party of the wealthy and you and I aren't
in it.
DBK
Slapping the Democrats into line is the fastest way to change that.
What's the alternative - getting behind Nader and getting 1% the next

We can't sit around and moan about how bad things are.
We have to deal with the facts in front of our faces.

Excerpt: George Bush, still President, is engaging in
a legacy tour of media outlets. This comes despite
his earlier having said he did not know how history
would judge the Iraq war "because we'll all be dead."
Actually, many people are already dead because
of Bush, and that is the point to keep in mind
when he talks about his legacy.
Among the themes Bush is striking are that through
action at home and fighting "them" over there,
not over here, his administration stopped terrorist
attacks and prevented another 9/11. There is a surface
plausibility to those claims, as there has often
been with the messaging served up by the Karl Rove
spin machine. But let's look beneath the surface
of the assertions.
Bush stopped terrorist attacks? Yes, some of the
many alleged plots cited by the White House probably
would have matured into attacks had not the U.S.
intelligence community acted. Many were more
aspirational than operational, and others were
the pure inventions of FBI informants. (In the Miami Liberty
City case, an FBI informant apparently bribed
people who previously had no interest in Al Qaeda.
When they swore the oath to Osama Bin Laden,
they were then arrested for doing so.)
We can't forget those pizza delivery boys who wanted to attack Fort
Dix.
No telling how many brave American soldiers they could've killed with
their pizza cutters.
Excerpt: As the government contemplates spending very
large sums of money, it is reassuring to know that
somebody still worries about waste. Or it would
be reassuring, if only that somebody were not
Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader,
who promises that he and his fellow Republicans
will "protect taxpayers against the rush to spend
their money."
This loud pledge of thrift and transparency by
the GOP leadership might be more persuasive coming
from people who had displayed such inclinations
anytime before last year's election. But these are the
same politicians who squandered astronomical
amounts when they controlled the federal budget.
And today, at a moment when economists of all
stripes agree that we must spend big and spend fast
to forestall a depression, the timing of the
Republican conversion is as dubious as its credibility.
To delay the Obama stimulus spending for the
sake of partisan posturing is to risk disaster.
The Republicans' sudden reversion to the solemn
frugality of their forebears would be amusing
were it not so dangerous. Having established
a record over the past decade or so as the wildest
wastrels in the nation's history, they now present
themselves as straight-laced accountants who
simply cannot abide a misspent dime.
> Name a president better than Clinton in the
last 60 years.
Harry S. Truman
Thank you. Very. Much.
Drew from CT
Really?
Did Truman triple the stock market?
Did he provide 8 years of peace & prosperity?
Did Truman have to fight with the Republicans
over the best way to spend the budget surplus?
Was the biggest crisis of his 2 terms a girlfriend?
I Like Harry, but I think he left office with near-Bush approval ratings.
Besdies, I think you just admitted Clinton was the best of the last
50 years :)
Excerpt: The lights are on in Sen. Norm Coleman’s office

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? -Epicurius

Was it so the actors in his little Earth play could show some drama?
And why are the actors in God's play held accountable for

Why has God killed millions of fetuses over the years?
What happened to the multi-million souls in Purgatory?
And if Purgatory never existed, why think Heaven exists?
If there is a God, he should reward those of us who used the brain

No matter which crazy religion one belongs to, 80% of
the world is dead-certain that you're completely wrong plus
they might kill you if you use a different book than they do.
It might be different if no religion was taught until you were
old enough to drive, drink and join the military.
It's all about geography.
If you were born in Saudi Arabia, you believe the crap your parents
taught you.
If you were born in Iran, you believe the crap your parents taught

If you were born in India, you believe the crap your parents taught

If you were born in Oklahoma, you handle rattlesnakes.
I knew religion was fake by the second grade.
I kept catching the Nuns in logic traps until they finally said,
"Stop asking questions - you'll get all your

Yeah, right.
If you can't outwit a second grader
your story must have a lot of holes in it.
With respect to the newfound "spines" of Dems
ready and willing to fight each and every thing
Obama proposes....this pisses me off. This brings
me to all-new levels of deep off-pissment.
I have no idea why they have decided suddenly
to walk on their hind legs only to oppose the
economic solutions - solutions approved and urged
by Paul Krugman, fer Chrissakes - Obama
has proposed. WTF WTF WTFF, you know?????
Jesus in White Satin!
If they could just trust him to do the Peoples'
business as the People
have elected him to do, dammit, just for a
bit, okay????
Thanks for all you do.
Krittikas,
Dems have no spine when fighting for the people who elected them.
But they'll stab their president in the back before he takes the oath.
If Obama was a Bartcop reader he would've known to expect this.
Excerpt: Congressional Democrats are firing a surprising
number of unexpectedly sharp brush-back pitches
at Obama and his staff over policy plans and
personnel picks, making him look embattled during
what was to be a triumphant debut week in Washington.
Consider:
* When Obama picked Panetta for CIA director,
Dianne Feinstein (D-Torture.) fired off
a statement of disapproval, giving a negative
tilt to most coverage of the pick.
* Obama mentioned Dr. Sanjay Gupta for Surgeon
General and John Conyers didn’t even wait
for the official announcement before leading
a public campaign to kill the nomination.
Gupta "lacks the relevant experience," Conyers
wrote to colleagues.
* As Obama plans to tackle Bush's broken economy,
Harry Reid made clear he won't
take marching orders from Obama. "I don't work
for" Obama, he told us.
*Even before Obama’s plan was formally unveiled,
Nancy Pelosi started whining.
“Put me down as one in favor of repeal of the
Bush tax cuts as soon as possible.”
* Obama's adviser also got a frosty response from
Senate Democrats, who went public with
their concerns. “I just don’t think it works,"
said Kent Conrad, a North Dakota backstabber.
This is no surprise.
Well, I'm surprised they turned on him so fast, but I knew they'd
do it.
Just how are the Senate and House leaders chosen?
Who, if anyone, has control of that?
Any idea?
Tks,
JW at Ramstein Air Force Base Germany
I don't know the procedure but they just hold a vote.
And I know Obama doesn't control that vote but he could've
let both chambers know he wasn't happy with their "leaders."
I wish that everyone who claims that Hillary was
“for the war”
would read the speech that she gave at the time.
It can be Googled.
Although she did think there was WMD in Iraq,
she specifically cautioned against
the actions that Bush took. It’s
a good speech, even in hindsight, if you can
forgive her for believing that WMD were there.
As a side note, I was absolutely against the invasion
and was very vocal in my opposition.
I wrote may letters to the editor, pre-war, regarding
the bogus yellow-cake claims, and regarding
the true problem that was Pakistan. I think
I was as skeptical about the invasion as anyone,
but at the time, I could not 100% guarantee
that Iraq had no WMD… nobody could. Blaze
Blaze, the hard Left is Guarantee City on that.
They say because Hans Blix and Scott Ritter said there were no WMDs
(in an area the size of the state of Texas, even) they were willing
to risk the lives
of every American who lived near the East Coast - maybe 100 million
people.
That's what I call a crazy gamble and I'll thank them NOT
to go gambling with my life in such a cavalier manner.
Those who forgave Kerry and Biden and the others are unwilling
to give Hillary the same pass and - funny - they can't say why.
Excerpt: It was none other than one of the NAATF’s Chief
Deputy Blowhards, Alex “Cut-Throat” Castellanos,
who taught a worldwide CNN audience how to define
the ultimate humiliation for the rethuglican party
on election night, saying “If we can’t beat that
lunatic, [Al Franken], we’re [fucked]!” Well Alex, grab
your ankles, you sick prick, ‘cause Mr. Smalley’s
goin’ to Washington!
The real danger in a Senator Al Franken is not
that he’s an entertainer, and a comedian no less.
The real danger lies in the fact that Al Franken
may turn out to be a great Senator. The man brings a
passion to expose the idiocy of the “Nut-Case
Right”, as he calls them, as clearly evidenced in his writings
and his leadership of Air America Radio and he
is unlikely to swim in the traditional political bullshit.
Like it or not dub-lovers, that record of commitment
to expose the truth is one of the reasons that Stuart
got elected. This stands as further evidence
that quality candidates can come out of nowhere to change
the nutcase status quo and that a person’s vote
can actually make a difference. RIP GOP!
