"Republicans want to continue the same fights
that we've been having over the last decade. The American people, on the other hand, realize that we want something
different; hence, the results of the election. And, if you look at (the economy) and how the Republicans have
responded to a great deal of overtures by me, it's pretty clear that the American people would like to see a different
way of doing business. But old habits break hard so we're going to keep on reaching out and eventually, I
have confidence that it's going to pay off."
-- Obama, Link
Obama has a great big brain and a big heart,
but he's missing that bartcopian, smart-mouthed street sense.
Maybe he's laying some longterm trap, and
I hope he is, but he seems naive about how to handle a bully.
Sure, you can reason with the bully - again
and again - and, as time goes by, possibly someday make a breakthru,
but I've found that they're a lot easier
to connect with once they have a bloody nose - or a broken back.
Please Barack, don't waste 2009 and 2010 trying to reason with
the dog with the foaming mouth.
Ten percent of America is on Food Stamps.
Will you still be placating the foamy dog when that figure hits
twenty percent?
Excerpt: Maybe the best way to get some perspective on
President Obama's $800 billion economic stimulus plan
is to compare it with a couple of his predecessor's
noteworthy adventures in the art of governance.
Fantastic idea, one I've championed for years.
When they attack Obama's
plans as "wasteful," it's always a great
idea to ask, "Compared to what?"
Faced with a mild recession in 2001, Bush said
"a warning light is flashing on the dashboard of our economy,
and we just can't drive on and hope for the best.
We need tax relief now." His answer was a $1.35 trillion tax cut
targeted largely at the wealthy, i.e.. more
than 50 percent larger than the Obama initiative.
You see?
All Gene Lyons did was list the facts and look
what happened:
Bush's tax cut giveaway to the super-rich appears
huge and wasteful
and Obama's recovery package seems modest and
necessary.
If we could only get the Dems to list the facts,
bit nooo.
Enacted with numerous Democratic votes, the Bush
tax cuts were supposed to invigorate a sluggish economy.
Eight years later, the results are clear. Unemployment
went from 4 to 7.6 percent and continues to increase frighteningly fast.
The economy lost 3.6 million jobs last year,
and 600,000 in January alone. The number of persons living in poverty has
risen
from 12.7 to 17 percent. In 2001, 17 million
Americans relied on food stamps; today, 30 million do.
The point is the dashboard light is not blinking
anymore. The U.S. economy's broken down at the side of the road
with black smoke pouring out from under the hood.
Fire extinguisher? Completely unnecessary, Republicans chant.
Why, Rush Limbaugh says if we'd just cut taxes
again, Americans could afford to rotate the tires. The fire will die out
eventually. Anything else would be socialism!
"The events of the last week proved that there
is
a liberal America and a conservative America. Singing 'Kumbaya,' Obama went hat-in-hand
to the GOP to get their approval for his stimulus bill, and they spit in his face." -- Gary Kamiya,
Link
Bart, I overheard my Repub/Neanderthal in-laws
talking about sitting on their wallets
so as not to help out the Obama/Socialist axis.
We Dems/patriotic Americans who are able,
need to spend a little $$ to help the economy
since we now own this issue.
I'm underemployed myself but I know that the only
slim hope of the zombie Republicans
coming back to life is to have the stimulus fail
or the economy stay flat. My purchase will be
the big screen TV which I can afford and have
denied myself for too long.
Many thanks for your hilarious commentary and
smackdowns in Monkey Mail.
Dave in Portland
P.S. January reversed 5 consecutive months of
slow consumer spending. Let's keep this going!,
I'm afraid our surrender-monkey Democrats will drop the ball - again.
We have to expect the Fascist dogs to attack Obama, saying,
"Look how bad the economy is under a Democratic
president."
I'd like to see: The Democrats reply with, "Fuck you - Bush
broke the whole world and it's gonna take some time to clean up
his mess."
I'd settle for: The Democrats keeping their back-stabbing pie holes shut.
I'm expecting: The Democrats to continue to twist the knife in Obama's back for
"packing the stimulus package with wasteful
spending."
How did I get in a party of inept, want-to-lose, suicidal morons?
"He tried to roll her and she knew it."
-- A House Democratic aide, on Harry Reid going before the cameras to announce
a stimulus deal before Pelosi
had signed off on the Senate’s approach to restoring some of the $21 billion
in school construction funding Link
So
who do we root for when the pink tutu Democrats attack each other?
Excerpt: I shouldn't be surprised by now. But I still
was when I read the article this morning in the Washington Whore Post
explaining that the cap on executive pay has
been removed from the stimulus bill. I knew what Congress was doing
yesterday by bringing the Wall Street executives
in and scolding them in public was a dog and pony show.
But I had not realized how profoundly full of
shit these politicians are.
They make a big display of yelling at the CEOs
and then the next day they quietly remove any cap on their compensation.
These people are not on our side. This is why
so many Americans are so damn frustrated. Everyone in power appears
to be bought and paid for. There is a circle
of people in DC and NY that keep passing the money around to one another
and then come and collect it from us
That would be a great question to ask Obama at the next press conference.
"F.D.R. put our country into a Great
Depression. He tried to borrow and spend, and our country ended up in a
Great Depression. That’s just history." -- Rep.
Steve Austria (R-OH) saying the Great Crash of 1929 happened in 1933,Link
As long as our whore media allows the GOP to tell stupid lies
like this,
as long as the weenie Dems are too afraid to list the facts,
"truths" like this will fill our history books.
Excerpt Obama doesn't grasp the essentials of presidential
leadership. Rather than making a compelling case for his economic policies,
he has resorted to curt rebuffs, such as telling
House Republican whip Eric Cantor, "I won." Nancy Pelosi
said the same thing:
"We won the election; we wrote the (stimulus)
bill." This is the trope of a party that has lost its ability to make an
argument.
Mr. Obama and his team would be well advised to
study Ronald Reagan's first 200 days in office. The contrast is instructive.
I smell it - don't you?
One BIG difference between Dems and rethugs is
how they lose.
When a Republican wins, the Democrats get together
and say, "The voters have spoken, they want us to work with the new president
so let's get some things done."
When a Democrat wins, the Republicans get together
and say, "The voters have spoken, they want us to work with the new president
so let's fuck him to death." Then they do just that.
When a Republican wins, the Democrats get together
and say, "The voters have spoken and the president should get whatever team
he wants to help him govern."
When a Democrat wins, the Republicans get together
and say, "The voters have spoken, and the president should get whatever team
we approve of." Then they fuck him.
The idiot Democrats don't want to win
Their primary objectve is
to be fair to the rabid dogs and
I can't stand seeing that.

we get Scott Jenning to travel to DC by rail?

Leafing through some of your older works, I read
volume # 156 of what you, at that time,
still called Rush Limba, Lying Nazi Whore.
The accuracy of the predictions you made
in your semi-final section is huge.
That section was about "Vote Republican/Bush"
and the effects it would have on the U.S. economy.
Apart from the subprime mortgage bubble that
no-one could have foreseen in 1999/2000,
your foresight to the effect Bush would prove
to have is eerily astute.
Looking back at eight years of GOP-dominated
economic policies, it indeed seems like heavy spending
on military materials has slowed down the economy.
Bush tried to undo this by urging everyone NOT
to save up - hence his "ownership society"-ideal.
When that failed, the lay-offs, through the chain of reactions
you scetched, started after all. Indeed, the
grey-haired did lose their savings, as you predicted.
And now the economy is slowing down some more.
I hope the US and their president will find the
means to overcome this heavy depression.
We wish you and your fellow countrymen good luck
from this side of the ocean.
Wilbert van Dijk
Excerpt: (from Vol 156 - posted Nov
2000) Then, the GOP cuts taxes for the ultra-rich, scaring the hell out of
Wall Street because it signals to them that Reagan's trickle down monster has pulled the stake out of it's
chest and is showing unhealthy signs of life, causing a full-blown selling panic on Wall Street which wipes out
most of the life-savings the grey-haired Americans have counted on for their final years as a wave of uncertainty
washes over America.
With the stock market dropping faster than Dr. Laura's panties, money
tightens up. With inventories up, business gets caught in the squeeze which begins the inevitable
cycle of layoffs which slows the economy even further and creates a rising spiral of bigger layoffs and bigger-every-month
unemployment reports.
If an uneducated Okie could see it, why couldn't Wall Street, the media
and the Democrats?
Note: There's some good stuff in those old issues.
Excerpt: It doesn't take a keen imagination to envision
Cheney, in the uniform of a Gestapo officer, replete with the skull
insignia on the cap. Cheney would have been right
at home in the more medieval branches of the Third Reich.
Like those stalwart defenders of all things German,
Cheney believed (and believes) that in order for the fatherland
to remain safe, we had (and have) to do some
pretty barbaric things. And like all the high ranking German officers
of that period during the run up to WWII, Cheney
knew that a frightened populace was an easily manipulated populace.
Pose an internal or an external threat (or preferably,
both) and you get mobs to cheer just about anything.
Wrap barbarism or illegality in love of country,
and the cheers grow even louder. Cheney and cohorts repeatedly
mongered fear throughout his two terms in office,
and that fear mongering worked so well that far too few Americans
questioned the things being done in their names˜the
"secret rendition," the "enhanced interrogation techniques,"
the darker nuances of the "Patriot Act," and
the "regime change" in Iraq, all of which were made possible because of
the classic Big Lie propaganda blitz that told
a nervous nation that without such extreme measures, we would be sure
to see mushroom clouds over American cities,
and Islamic terrorists in every shopping mall.
And the whore press fell for it, the Democrat fells for it
and
the scared public felt they had no choice.
They all refused to do their jobs so the Bush bastards got away with
everything.
"Close to two-thirds of those surveyed said
there should be investigations into allegations that the Bush bastards used torture to interrogate
terrorism suspects and its program of wiretapping U.S. citizens without getting
warrants. Almost four in 10 favor criminal investigations."
-- Jill Lawrence, Link
"I won't
allow any charges to be filed. Protecting
Bush is my top priority."
Excerpt: This president and his party received a full-throated
mandate to promote a new political agenda. We all know that
the country was run into the ground by his predecessor
and his predecessor’s party. So why in these desperate times
does he seem to care so much about being liked
by the side he defeated? On inauguration eve, he bestowed on McCain
the very nice gesture of a dinner honoring his
service. But McCain understood this as a mere pause in political combat.
This past week you could feel a stomach-knotted
apprehension in the national perception of our brave new president.
Last week, a rejuvenated McCain headed right back
to his Senate trench to machine-gun Obama’s stimulus package
as if nothing had happened on November 4 or January
20. The Republicans, in a sudden resurgence of discipline,
turned themselves back into the insurgents rather
than the architects of the present chaos. And Obama himself seemed
taken aback that he didn't get him a single Republican
vote in the House and only three predictable ones in the Senate.
This "Let's all be friends" crap has to stop before Obama does serious
damage to America and his legacy.
Rahm Emanuel knows how to fight - why the hell is is he playing engineer
on the Surrender Train?
I know how crazy this sounds, but Obama needs a guy like Ol' Bart in
his inner circle.
He needs someone to say, "Why are we surrendering yet again when
we fucking won?"
Excerpt: The award for "Most destructive effect on public
discourse by a single person" for the 2000s goes to Cheney.
"Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam
Hussein now has WMDs." Cheney, VFW speech, 2002.)
Of course, this is a career-achievement award,
not limited to this one event.
My nominee for the winner in the 1990s would be
Elizabeth "Betsy" McCaughey...In McCaughey's case, the equivalent
of WMDs was the original Clinton Health Reform
plan. In 1994 she wrote a cover story in the New Republic "revealing"
a number of hidden dangers in the Clinton plan
that less careful analysts had somehow missed. Unfortunately for McCaughey,
most of what she wrote was false. Unfortunately
for the Clintons, most of what she claimed was echoed uncritically and
became part of the conventional wisdom of why
the bill couldn't pass.
Yes, and the turncoat, backstabbing Democrats
agreed with every whore lie that bitch and the GOP told.
The Clintons got screwed on health care and so
did all of us.
The Democrats were super-eager to agree that the
Clintons were "out-of-control Stalinists"
and the voters,
after hearing both sides say that about the Clintons,
agreed so they elected Newt to stop health care and we
lost congress. The idiot Democrats didn't
even have the damn brains to protect their own House and Senate seats.
The Republicans succeeded and health care costs
are higher than ever - thanks to GOP lies and Dem cowardice.
Fast-forward to today and the same Dems are screwing
Obama like they screwed the Clintons.
How did I get in the party of backstabbing weenies?
Excerpt: Judd Gregg's withdrawal as Commerce Secretary
nominee has left aides Obama
feeling burned in their bipartisan outreach,
the Washington Whore Post reports...
Obama himself has made public his surprise at
Gregg's move. The president said
"It comes as something of a surprise, because
Gregg approached us with interest and seemed enthusiastic
Mitch McConnell (R-Bitch) says he expects Gregg
to receive a "standing ovation"

Of course he'll get a standing ovation.

Bart, I think you're paying too much attention
to the Washington press:
"Contraception, funding for the arts, restoration
of the national mall, stop-smoking programs."
You wrote:
> If he's telling the truth - BIG "if" there

been stripped away, so yes, shame on her for putting it in there
The money for those things was in
there and it would have increased employment and would have produced
lasting effects benefiting the economy.
Just because the troglodytes say it's pork or it's related to sex,
doesn't make it bad, stupid, or ineffective.
They say the same thing about food stamps and health care spending.
Don't pay any attention to them.
Pelosi in fact has been a major reason that the
program is as good as it is--she didn't waste her time trying to be
post-partisan or bi-partisan with the Republicans
in the House. Maybe it's time you looked at her a little more favorably.
Mike in Cheney
Mike, I disagree.
When the nation is crumbling, why fill up the rescue package with
condom programs? That gave the Fascist dogs a perfect excuse to say, "There
go those nutty Dems again."
How goddamn stupid can the Democrats get?
Putting a condom package in this stimulus bill is as smart as the LA
detectives driving
OJ's blood sample over to his ex-wife's house - why can't the idiot
Democrats learn?
It gives the other side a chance to torpedo everything.
Can't they get anything right?
Can they even get five out of a hundred right?
If the Democrats ever get good enough to score a "gentlemen's F" on
something
I'll take back at least half the critical things I've said about them.
