"Obama is a radical communist and I think it
is becoming clear. That is what I told people in Illinois and now everybody realizes it is coming
true. He is going to destroy this country and we are either going to stop him or the United States
of America is going to cease to exist."
-- Alan Keyes (R-Handjob) who believes every lie Rush tells, Link
Is Alan Keyes calling for a violent revolution to overthrow the
U.S. government?
Excerpt: Not since Nader has someone so wilfully dismantled
his reputation and legacy like McCain. Once a noble and battered
war hero, McCain has morphed from the integrity-driven
campaign hero of 2000 to the grovelling rightwing partisan of
2008 to the sorely bitter loser of 2009. Instead
of trying to repair his badly damaged brand, instead of reciprocating
Obama's post-election overtures, McCain chose,
after what must have been careful deliberation, to go on an all-out tirade...
McCain is the victim of his own blind judgment,
the victim of a decision to turn whore for a bid at the presidency.
Americans hate kicking a guy when he's down. The
public has, by and large, been very kind to its presidential runners-up.
But if McCain continues to dabble in over-the-top,
in-your-face, logic-be-damned style bloviating, his presence in the
history books may well be reduced to a diminishing
footnote: John McCain, bitter old man.
"This is not a matter involving civil damages.
It is a matter of high crimes, abuse of power, the subversion of our country's constitution and of our individual
rights and liberties. There should be no deal cut with Karl Rove that would provide him with any immunity whatsoever.
There is too much at stake. U.S. Attorneys were fired because they wouldn't take on political cases
and the DOJ was used as a political weapon to destroy people Karl Rove wanted out of the way. For Rove
not to be held accountable means others in the future will feel more free to abuse power."
-- Former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman, who was arrested and imprisoned for
being a Democrat, Link
"The US Attorneys, including the replacements
Bush/Rove installed to be good Bushies, are being asked to stay on. I'm OK with Fitzgerald for a lot
of reasons. However, this includes such notables as Mary Beth Buchanan and Alice Martin. Not only are they
not being investigated for possible prosecution (Martin's role in the the Siegelman case is one of the things
Conyers wants to question Rove about, for example) but they are not even being fired. The opportunity
to pick up the remains of Carol Lamm's prosecutions are being passed by; Jerry Lewis gets a pass. Politically
motivated investigations and prosecutions of Democrats are ok, it seems. This isn't post partisan, it's pretending
that Republican partisanship doesn't matter. That's delusional." -- Salmo, Link
This is one of those questions I wish the press would ask Obama
about on live TV.
Since it's standard for the new president to replace
the attorneys, why isn't Obama
replacing the crooked-for-sure, loyal-to-Bush attorneys from
Falwell's university?
Excerpt: When you take a step away from the media maelstrom,
the overwhelming impression is the sheer volume and severity
of the problems that we are facing right now.
This is a global crisis. A great many people are being hurt badly. There
is a
real chance that it will get much, much worse,
especially if the banking system does not hold. All of us, including Republicans
who oppose the administration's policies, should
hope that the Obamajobs and the Obamaloans have the desired effect...
But we should also take careful note of those
who have opposed these programs -- especially those who have done so
for cynical, political reasons...Their braying,
and playing of Aerosmith songs, seems inappropriate, tone-deaf and puerile,
at a moment of real pain and fear. Those in the
media who egg them on, or give them inordinate attention, are no better.
"Negroes look forward to failure..."
But that hate is all the Republicans have to hold their corrupt party
together.
If Obama suceeds in saving our country, who'll want to vote for a Rethug
in 2012?
It's interesting to see Republicans running ads
against the recovery act saying that if we spent a million dollars
a day since Jesus was born that it would be less
spending than what Obama is spending. The same argument
would apply to the Iraq war or the tax cuts for
the rich. In fact it would be closer to 10 million a day to pay for
the combined deficits under Republican presidents.
Republicans apparently think Christians are suckers and that
if you use "Jesus" then people will accept it
without thinking it through.
But what offends me more is that they used the
name of Jesus to take a cheap and deceptive political shot.
Even as an Atheist I find it offensive that if
you really believe in Jesus that you would defile him by using his name
as part of a deception. It sends a message to
Atheists like myself that believers don't really believe in Jesus,
And that if you don't really believe in Jesus
then why should I?

Another good e-mail from Perkel.
It reminds me of a point I made years ago.
"It's like arguing with people with no short
term memory. You can win over and over again, but they never really learn or are even able
to accept the fact that they just got their asses handed to them on a plate. They really are
either just doing it for kicks or they're so convinced that they're right that they'll never change
their attitudes. I hope for the former but fear it's the latter."

Excerpt Clinton has appeared unabashedly delighted soaking
up affectionate, sometimes gushing reactions that she evoked
among foreign officials and onlookers.
In Indonesia, she beamed as she was serenaded by schoolchildren.
Later, she
visited the Association of Southeast Asian Nations,
waving and smiling broadly when hundreds of employees chanted
``Hee-ler-ry,'' Hee-ler-ry'' as she entered.
The bloc's secretary general, Surin Pitsuwan, appeared smitten and spoke
in
glowing terms about the former first lady, presenting
her with an arrangement of 32 yellow flowers.
The tone of Clinton's diplomatic charm offensive
was a significant departure from the traditional approach of some
previous secretaries of state, who were on the
road a great deal but tended to scowl at diplomats from other nations.
Her predecessor, Kinda Slutty Rice, was far more
reserved while Colin Powell, the liar whose credibility sold Bush's war
was a portrait in stoic, genteel blankheadedness.
At least we can depend on Hillary to avoid that
"beaver diplomacy" Condi liked to use.

The question was never "Does Saddam have
any WMDs?"
Is there a dictator on Earth who doesn't have some form of WMDs?
Every Piggly Wiggly in America has WMDs, if you're going to count
"bombs" made out of chlorine, ammonia and baking soda.
The question was always, "How many thousands of military widows
are worth finding out?"
Clinton may have "known" Saddam had WMDs, but Saddam was contained
and Clinton didn't
invade and create 4200 war widows because his family wasn't a
crooked crime syndicate that was
in the global-stealing-oil business every day since
they financed Hitler's attack on Europe..
If the idiot Democrats had bothered to list the facts, the facts
being that Prescott Bush
got the family fortune started while
having to pay a fine to the US government for financing Hitler, the Bush bastards might not have ever gained power but the Democrats
constantly refuse to mention the
goddamn facts because they're just not that into winning.
That allows evil men to steal power ...and here we are.

Hey Bart,
You wrote: “Guess what - when you're inside your
house you can't really tell where you live.” - Ok, I’ll bite.
I live in Asheville, NC and I’m sitting in my
house right now and you couldn’t mistake anywhere else for where I now
sit.
When I look above my monitor I’m looking out
plate-glass windows at the take-your-breath-away view across the valley
to Cold Mountain (among a great many others)
on the other side.
But I think the point is really more about all
the hours that most of us hopefully spend outside our houses. Yesterday
was
not an atypical day for me. I woke up and
drove one hour to fly fish in the Smoky Mountain National Park. After
I came home,
I drove 5 minutes to meet friends (intelligent,
happy, liberals of which the town is mostly composed) for a fantastic dinner
at one
of many fantastic restaurants. Then I walked
a couple blocks to see great live music like I do about 4 nights a week.
Where you live can really be more important than
what you live in. Almost time for a cocktail on the deck to watch
the sunset…
Keep at it man,

RJ, that must be one nice-ass house.
In Oklahoma, you could have 4-5 houses w/ 2900 sq ft for that price.

taxes and insurance is less than $400.

Anyone left, furthermore, who doesn't know that
pot is far safer than booze, less addictive, nonviolent,
more transportable, easier to light, and generally

Oh, Chrissie!
How could you?
We saw The Pretenders in 2007, I
think, backing up ZZ Top in St. Louis.
Great show, lots of hard rocking from both bands.
But now it's 2009 and something's gone very wrong.
Even before they took the stage last night in
Tulsa, I knew something was wrong.
The four piece band was now a five piece - and
the fifth member plays steel guitar.
Yes, the horribly bad news is The Pretenders
now have a country tilt.
They did 4-5 outright country songs and that's
NOT what I paid to see.
They did a Orange Blossom Special-type song that
had some impressive guitar,
but if I wanted to see Roy Clark play guitar
I would buy Roy Clark tickets.
Then, when they did the old hits, I heard twanging
and I f-ing hate twanging.
We were even in a good mood, stopping at Mexical
Border Cafe before the show.
Nothing like some Mexican food and some tequila
to get ready for a rock n roll show.
I thought we had a total disaster on our hands
when the band left for the encores
because their music was about half-country and
half what-we-paid-to-see.
But they came out and did 2 hard rock songs for
encores and saved the night.
How bad was it?
It almost put me off going to concerts.
Right now, I'm thinking if it's not Zeppelin, U2 or
Garbage, I'm not sure I'm willing to part with my money just to be disappointed.
Hell, two of those bands don't currently exist - how sad is that?
Sidebar: Mrs. Bart liked it, but then, this was her first night out since "the

expected a rock show by a founding pillar of punk, not a country hootenanny.
