Quotes

"The tension between the business interests of the conservative-industrial-complex and the GOP is real.
There is a huge amount of money to be made by selling to a segment of the country that alienates the
critical middle that every party needs to occupy to remain a national force. And so the success of the
movement risks the failure of the party. And the failure of the party - its permanent isolation from power
- only fuels the resentment and alienation that make so much moolah. This is the GOP's Fox problem.
You ride that fox; it eats you in the end."

The Last Gasp of the Angry White Man

 Link

 Excerpt:
What we're seeing in these angry town halls these days is the last gasp of the angry white man.
He's not quite sure what he's angry about, but he knows he's angry. It's not the world he used to know.
He gets the disquieting feeling that he doesn't rule the roost anymore. And it's driving him crazy.

One of the chants at the town hall events was, "No national healthcare!" Okay, mission accomplished.
No one has proposed such a thing. So, I guess they can go home now befuddled at what they were yelling about.

The reality is that what they have been manipulated into arguing against is a public option that would give them
more choices, not less in health insurance. It wouldn't nationalize health insurance at all, let alone any part of the
rest of the healthcare industry.

But this isn't about health insurance. It isn't even about health care. You think those people are really this
animated about having less health care options and making sure it costs more for them and their family?
No, this is visceral for them. And it has nothing to do with their perceived choices on health care.
This is about the sinking feeling in their stomach that they are losing power in this country - losing control.
That the reigns of power are slipping out of their hands and they don't know what to do about it except yell, really loud.

In other words, all that talk about "equality" was bullshit
because rich, white, straight, old Republicans want to run everything.

Subject: one more thought about Native Americans

 Link

 Excerpt:
The best-known recent Native American metalwork is that of Navajo and Hopi silversmiths; their craft began when they adopted
Mexican silver-working techniques in the mid-19th century."  (Me again.) The production of bronze is especially interesting, because
bronze is an alloy of copper and tin. This seems to indicate that Native Americans had achieved, through independent invention, a true
"bronze age" status, as the ancient peoples around the Mediterranean had done three millennia before.

Ann, thanks for that.

What's the Matter with Oklahoma?
You could read  bartcop.com  and find out

 Link

 Excerpt:
As the ever more combustible health care debate rages across America, the state of Oklahoma has become
the poster child for the conflict and its contradictions. A 2007 study by the Commonwealth Fund ranked
Oklahoma dead last in state health care performance. Yet in 2008, the Sooner State remained the most
Republican in the nation, giving John McCain a whopping 31% win over Barack Obama. Meanwhile in
Washington, its congressional delegation of James Inhofe, Tom Coburn and John Sullivan are waging an
all-out war to prevent the health care reforms their constituents of all Americans need most.

As the data show, the Obama birther movement is strongest precisely in those states where Republicans
poll best and health care is worst. And at a gathering of the Tulsa Republican Club Friday, First District
Congressman John Sullivan embodied that paradox incarnate:

"This is a scary time in Washington. It's a very frightening time. I see Barack Obama is creating
an enemies list of people who oppose this miserable health care plan. I think that's frightening.
That's from a guy that can't even show a long-form birth certificate. I think we all ought to be
prepared to fight that."

But if "miserable health care" described any place in the United States, it would be Oklahoma.

Worse still, every Oklahoma doctor I've had has been religiously-insane.
In Oklahoma, science is considered a liberal trick by the Democratic evildoers.

Talk Radio Gets Angrier as its Revenues Drop

 Link

 Excerpt:
Conservative talk radio has never been more angry and extreme than today.
You might think that’s a response to the Obama presidency.  That's because it is.
But even more, conservative talkers are responding to a collapse in advertising revenues.

Talk radio has lost 30-40% of its ad revenues over the past two years.

"One of the most civil voices  biggest assholes in talk radio, Michael Medved, explains the economic
pressure upon the industry. He told NewMajority: “In this economic environment, you have a push to
be outrageous, to be on the fringe, because what you’re desperately competing for is the super loons,
[those who tune in most frequently]. As a result, talk radio hosts are feeling more pressure than usual
to yell harder, scream louder, and insult further. Talk shows “are fighting for an ever- smaller pie,
[which means that] you’ve got to be even louder about it because you’re trying to get the attention of
an ever-smaller niche,” said Medved.

Bullshit, as always, from the Medved prick.
The truth is the vulgar Pigboy makes $40M a year and all the clones want his paycheck.

And how are revenues falling at talk radio? This country is lurching toward civil war
and the brainless troglodytes don't want their hourly fix of AM Radio race-hate?

The super loons are going to tune in like always.
They can't survive without hourly assurances that "that nigger" is a fraud from Kenya.

Subject: Swift Birthers for Truth

It's the same brainwashing game that was played by that pack of liars, the Swift Boaters for Truth.
Slime, smear, repeat.  It titillates and encourages the snarling hyena Republican racists, pisses off Dems
who feel helpless to defend their President, and seeps into the cracks of mass consciousness, causing molecules
of doubt to steadily accumulate for the purpose of gradually undermining Obama's presidency at some future point
when the moment is more opportune.

The Swift Boaters were calling Kerry a lying coward, and he wouldn't make them shut up, proving their points for them.
The Swift Birthers are fomenting the idea that Obama is weak because he can't make them shut up and are subliminally
calling him a coward because he's not even trying to.  Obama needs to show some fortitude by showing up at a Gibbs
press conference and announcing that he is siccing his team of libel-and-slander-specializing trial attorneys on the Swift Birth cretins.

Cease-and-desist orders and monetary lawsuits against the Swift Birthers and their cable network and radio enablers
should shut them up.  If that doesn't work, then, hey, are those Halliburton camps ready yet?  It seems there's a serious need
for reeducation in some parts.  After all, the Swift Birthers were big Bush torture fans, so don't they deserve to experience
Homeland Security's newest accommodations and amenities?

Instead of getting legal on them, he should threaten to turn Bartcop loose on them.

GOP is paying trolls to "blog attack"
But the Left only gives money to Kos

 Link

 Excerpt:
This is unbelievable. We always knew that there were right-wing political hacks trolling the blogosphere, but this is a new low.

There's a company called Advantage Consultants that's offering up "professional blog warriors" to "flood the zone"
with comments. In short, astro-turf trolls for the blogosphere...

Now don't get me wrong -- there's nothing wrong with being a paid blogger. There's plenty of organizations
that have staff or consultants on retainer to write on their blogs - which inevitably means commenting on blogs.

But here's the key: Be open and honest about it. Unlike these guys, who promise "complete confidentiality",
don't fake it, don't lie, and always disclose.

Incidentally, who are these people? Who is Advantage Consultants?
Their president is Doug Guetzloe, a right-wing radio host and anti-tax activist in Florida.

The GOP has always been willing to fund the fight.

Remember Richard Mellon Scaife?
He paid the Arkansas Troopers $80K to lie to David Brock about Clinton.
He also paid David Brock $80K to report these lies, and when Paula Jones saw
was the troops told Brock she - of course - sued Clinton which never made sense.

But it all started with some seed money from a rich Republican.

Where are the rich Democrats?
Why don't they ever seed anything?

Two of the biggest bloggers on our side, Kos and Huffington, were Republicans.
I wonder who's seeding them?

Subject: death panels

We already have death panels.  Every insurance company has one.
They call him/her The Medical Director.

The one who says you are denied coverage because a kidney transplant is "experimental"
or that you have reached their imposed "cap" on treatment.  They are the real death panels,
and they get paid very well for making their "informed" decisions.
 Nanci the Paralegal

I would rather my death panelists be politicis that can be fired by the voters rather than a Rethug
who gets a bonus everytime he saves the company money by denying somebody's rightful claim.

That's one reason we had the housing crisis.
If you give some realtor $10K each time they rook some young couple into an A.R.M.
that realtor is going to get righ and hundreds of homes will be reclaimed by the bank 6 months later.

Military: Global warming real and dangerous
Military Analysts: That Lost Decade of Republican Denial on
Climate Change Will Lead to Major Global Upheaval

 Link

 Excerpt:
The changing global climate will pose profound strategic challenges in coming decades, raising the
prospect of military intervention to deal with the effects of violent storms, drought, mass migration
and pandemics, military and intelligence analysts say.

Such climate-induced crises could topple governments, feed terrorist movements or destabilize entire
regions, say the analysts, experts at the Pentagon and intelligence agencies who for the first time are
taking a serious look at the national security implications of climate change.

Recent war games and intelligence studies conclude that over the next 20 to 30 years, vulnerable regions,
particularly sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and South and Southeast Asia, will face the prospect of
food shortages, water crises and catastrophic flooding driven by climate change that could demand an
American humanitarian relief or military response.

I said it until I was a Smurf.

If WE are wrong about global warming, we wasted some money.
If THEY were wrong, we lose the planet we live on.

But Republican greed is very powerful and some people are very stupid.

Alaska overrides Palin veto
She didn't want Obama's socialist dollars

 Link

Excerpt:
In a final spat with their MILF swimsuit model, the Alaska Legislature voted Monday to override her
politically-inspired veto of $28.6 million in federal stimulus funds intended for energy efficiency projects.

Palin, who quit in the middle of her only term, had vetoed the money that the state can use for almost
anything that will reduce energy costs, from retrofitting public buildings and homes to energy efficiency
audits and lighting upgrades and public transit.

Palin cited "strings" that could bind the state to federal codes for constructing buildings.
She also said it would increase the size of government.

Alaska must be happy that the soap opera drama queen is out of their lives.
But who knows?  Maybe the new governor is also religiously insane.

Subject: the coming civil war

On the Maddow show and other outlets I have begun to see angry commentary.
This anger, coupled with Nazi rhetoric (The bullies not understanding about projection)
and the well armed nature of these folks = an attempt on our President.

The horror of this will be bad enough, but can you imagine the Rodney King riots multiplied many times?
There going to have to pull back national Guard units form Iraq and Afghanistan to quell the violence in America's streets.
I didn't think there would be a black President in my lifetime.  Now I fear a black President will not survive my lifetime.

The county may be able to elect a man of color as the Chief Executive,
but many (Sothern Shit_kickers) cannot stand a black man in charge

You are correct about racism driving this whole mess.
The good news is the majority seem to be siding with Obama.

Subject: Government run Death Panels

Sarah Palin is concerned about older people having to appear in front of a government "death panel"
describing it as "downright evil". I suppose as a Republican she would want privately held corporate death panels.

Oh wait! We have that already. It's called the insurance industry.
Except you don't get to appear, you just get denied.

I think what is downright evil is what the insurance companies are doing to America.

Tiger punished, fined for bad behavior
Can he learn to control himself?

 Link

Excerpt:
Tiger Woods will be fined by the PGA Tour for his public criticism of a rules official
after winning the Bridgestone Invitational, a tour official said Monday.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the tour does not publicize fines.

ha ha
Weasels speak off the record because they don't speak on the record?

Woods was bothered after his victory Sunday because he and Padraig Harrington were put on
the clock at the 16th. He said that caused Harrington to rush three difficult shots, leading to triple bogey.

European Tour chief referee John Paramor told Woods and Harrington they were being timed.
Woods said he told Harrington after it was over, “I’m sorry that John got in the way of a great battle.”

Really?
That "outburst" was worthy of a fine?
I thought he might've told the referee to go screw himself,

Do they understand if they piss Tiger off he can walk away and start his own Tiger PGA?
What would happen to golf if their only star left?

Tiger Woods IS golf and they need to remember that.
