"Why do people hate you?" -- Nine year old to Obama
"Well, first of all, I did get elected President,
and not everybody hates me. If you're watching TV lately, everyone seems mad all the time. Some
of it's just what's called politics. One party wins, the other party feels it needs to poke you to keep
you on your toes. You shouldn't take it too seriously. People are worried about their own lives, losing jobs,
health care, homes, and feeling frustrated. When you're President of the United States you've got to deal with
all of that." -- Obama,
Link
That's a good answer and a troubling answer.
How can we win if Obama thinks the lying
sons of bitches are just doing their job?
Excerpt: Early in the congressional battle, Republicans
cited an industry-sponsored study by the Lewin Group, projecting that
the public option could lead to the defection
of 119 million Americans from private insurance to the government-run plan...
So, to protect the interests of the insurance
industry, congressional Republicans – and some conservative Democrats
– went to work killing the public option. Behind
the scenes, the industry even helped organize angry protests at "town hall"
meetings to pressure members of Congress to back
away from the government-run alternative.
If the Democrats bend to the demands of the industry
and the Republicans, Obama and congressional Democrats could
find themselves in several years explaining how
they enacted "reforms" that bully moderate-income Americans into buying
over-priced health insurance, fatten the industry’s
profits and fail to achieve any meaningful cost controls.
Such an outcome could be catastrophic to the Democratic
Party’s future and to the concept of progressive governance.
Yet, some members of the Senate Democratic leadership
appear to heading in that direction, wanting to portray pushing
through some bill – even one without a public
option – as a victory.
"When the Dow was plummeting earlier this year,
Sean Hannity would talk almost every night about 'the tanking Obama stock market.' And now
that it's bounced back from 6547 to cross the 10,000 barrier? Well, if Hannity has credited the president
for doing something right, I missed it. Apparently, the market is only news in a Democratic administration
when it's headed south."

Excerpt: Sarah Palin and John Edwards have seen their
favorability ratings slide in recent months.
Edwards has suffered by far the biggest slide.
When Americans were polled about him in January 2008,
48 percent had a favorable view. This month,
Edwards’ favorability rating was only 21 percent, Gallup found.
The plunge followed Edwards’ admission that he
had an extramarital affair during his 2008 presidential campaign.
Palin’s favorability rating has also slid. She
had a 53 percent favorability rating after NaziCon 2008.
By the campaign’s end, her favorability had dropped
to 42 percent. Her current 40 percent rating
“is the lowest for her since she became widely
known after last year’s Republican convention.”
There's one big difference:
John Edwards is out of politics forever but
braindead Sarah Palin is the future of the Republican
party.
Excerpt A sheriff said he was pursuing criminal charges
in Colorado's "balloon boy" saga, which first sparked fear
for the child, then relief that he was OK and
now suspicions of a hoax.
Deputies searched their home Saturday night, carrying
away several boxes and a computer.
The parents, Richard and Mayumi Heene, met with
Larimer County investigators Saturday afternoon amid
questions about whether he perpetrated a publicity
stunt when his 6-year-old son vanished into the rafters
of his garage while the world thought he was
zooming through the sky in a flying saucer-like helium balloon.
This didn't happen suddenly - it took hours
and hours - so why didn't the parents talk?
They remained silent so the world could come
to the desired conclusion.
Unless the Dad is a total tool, he had
to know a balloon that small couldn't fly with a kid inside.
You and I had no concept of the balloon's size
or lifting power, but the dad certainly did.
With all that time, why didn't Dad look at the
balloon on TV and say, "There's no gondola, so there's no way possible for my kid to be
inside that thing," but he failed to do
that.
I don't care how "distraught" the family was,
they HAD to see the image on TV and realize
that without the gondola, there's no place for
the kid to be a passenger.
I think Dad should do some hard time for this
hoax and his wages should be garnished forever
to pay the state of Colorado for their expenses
in this phoney rescue.
That's a link to MSNBC from January saying Obama
ordered the Pentagon to close down
the Guantanamo prison within a year. I assume
you do not want to gamble that Gitmo prison
will be closed down in 100 days or so.
Excerpt: Obama's order to close the Guantanamo Bay prison
by January faces snags in Congress that
some of the president's supporters say result
from a lack of White House muscle.
Bingo.
If there's one constant we've seen the last ten
months it's Obama's lack of muscle.
Obama says, "I
want to close down Gitmo" and Jim Inhofe
will say "I don't like that," and Obama replies, "You
have some good points, my friend."
Yes there are plans to Close Gitmo,
The time line is for Jan 22, 2010 and Congress
is fucking it up.
Is this really Bart? Not aware?
Confused Northern California Dave
That was a poor choice of words on my part.
I should've said, there's a difference between talk and action.
They can talk about Gitmo until they're Smurfs but it's not closing
down anytime soon.
All the Republicans have to do is scream "Willie
Horton, but worse," and that plan is dead.
As long as Obama's goal is to be Mr. Nice Guy, nothing will change.
You may be receiving a letter since Rush has decided
to sue "anyone of consequence" who has libeled him.
Carson
A letter? Oh my!
That's a clumsy bluff from a man with no hand to play.
I heard O'Reilly the other day barking out the same bluff.
Someone called his show and said something off-topic and O'Reilly
said
"The FOX News investigative team would pay
that guy a visit," which is pure horseshit.
The bluffing blowhards want the stupid people to think they have
their own Secret Service.
It's a stupid bluff that's laughable on its face.
By the way, Rush rapes little
boys - he's done it for years.
But he does it in the Dominican Republic so, if need be, he can
buy his way out of trouble.
And if he doesn't like seeing the truth in print he
can sue me.
BTW, did you know Rush is gay?
That's why he has to pay women to "marry" him.
From Birthers to Teabaggers Republicans are angry.
Republicans are saying a lot of four letter words
but there's a four letter word that Republicans
never say under any condition, one they don't even want to think about.
That four letter word is BUSH.
"For years, Limbaugh and his buddies have claimed
that private organizations should get to exclude anyone they want for any reason they
like. (Mostly skin color)
And, of course, that the free market takes care of weeding out bad ideas/money
losers. Well, this private club decided to exclude him, correctly concluding that his blatant
racism would destroy their profits. Hoisted by your own petard much?" -- shortstop,
Link
How many of those NFL owners that dumped Fatass
Limbaugh are Republican?
I would bet that the majority of them are.
Racefan
Sure they are - they're super-rich.
But they didn't want the Pigboy skunk at their picnic.
If he got in, the first week he'd say something like,
"If only the ni... Black players weren't so
lazy," and then they'd have to
vote on a punishment for his rascist ass and who needs more trouble?
Excerpt: Ann Coulter has made a career out of saying the
unthinkable. Last week the bestselling American author
caused outrage when she described the widows
of 9/11 as 'witches' who revelled in their husbands' deaths.
Mixing soundbites with short skirts, this former
lawyer has become the most extreme - and popular -
polemicist in America. How did that happen?
It happened the way it always happens. A right-wing loon spews the most
hateful and vicious lies imaginable,
and the media fawns over them and gives them millions of dollars of
free publicity while the Democrats cringe in fear.
Then the right-wing purses open up and they buy 10,000 books at a time
so it shoots to Number One on the
New York Whore Times best seller list and the vicious, lying loon gets
super-rich, inspiring others behind them.
I'm so old I remember when there was just one vulgar Pigboy.
Now there are thousands of them and they all make
serious money.
Meanwhile, Phil Donahue, who was the top-rated show on MSGOP at the
time,
was fired because he questioned the wisdom of Bush's Iraq quagmire.
The Left represents the majority in the country but we can't get
access to the airwaves or the media. And if a Democrat stumbles onto a TV or radio show, he praises the
rat bastards and wishes them well.
The Democrats' biggest problem is they have no desire to fight or win.
"How can I trick the media into dumping on
Obama? Well, as you well know, I can play the media like a Stradivarius,
and it's all based on one simple reality: the arrogant SOBs refuse to listen
to this program." -- the vulgar Pigboy, not
making sense, as usual,
Butt Rush, how can you "play" the media
if they're not listening to you?
Besides, if you've heard the flaming Nazi
gasbag once, you've heard all of his shows.
Excerpt: The military met or exceeded both their numeric
and quality recruiting goals during fiscal 2009 for the first time
in the 36-year history of the all-volunteer force,
the Pentagon’s top military personnel policy official said Tuesday.
In addition, retention was deemed “successful”
in all the services, the Pentagon said in a press release.
A weak economy and increased spending on recruiting
were the primary reasons for the recruiting successes.
“The investment per accession we were able to
deliver this year — because we hadn’t built in the unemployment [rate],
as it turned out ... left us with more dollars
per recruit than proved to be minimally necessary, given the level of unemployment,”
said Bill Carr.
The seasonally adjusted U.S. unemployment rate
for September stood at 9.8 percent;
another 214,000 Americans lost their jobs that
month,
Under Clinton, we had the opposite problem.
The poor schlubs that were making $18K
in the military found out they could make $100K
as civilians.
So they left and the GOP said "Clinton is hurting
our military." The military thrives after a Rethug crashes the economy.
Bart, is it that the porn industry pays taxes?
Mary Jo
That's a good point.
California is drowning in red ink.
They should legaize "getting together" and let them pay sales tax,
at least.
A $200 transaction would bring in maybe $16.50
to the state.
A hundred transactions would bring in $1650.
Have the girls get licensed and checked regularly by doctors.
Establish accepted Rules of Conduct for both parties.
If a girl robs her client or whatever, she loses her license.
Prostitution exists and will continue to exist. The question is, like with drugs, do we want it run
by the state or do we want it run by violent, two-bit thugs?
If they legalized all the harmless things people want,
Upside: They could balance the state budget in no time.
Downside: The non-existent Invisible Cloud Being would be angry.
Excerpt: The Obama administration delivered new guidance
on medical marijuana to federal prosecutors Monday,
signaling a broad policy shift that will mean
fewer crackdowns against dispensaries and the people who use them.
AG Eric Holder instructed government lawyers that
in 14 states where pot is legal, federal prosecutors
should focus only on cases involving higher level
drug traffickers or people who use the state laws as a cover story.
For the person who said it never happened it is

That would be Oklahoma's Democratic I-love-a-good-cockfight
governor, Brad Henry who beat
Steve Largent because Largent was against cock-fighting.
Henry is a "Toby Keith" Democrat..
It takes effect Nov. 1, 2009.

Excerpt: Republicans who make up the base of the Republican
Party stand a world apart from the rest of America, according to
focus groups conducted by DemocracyCorps. These
base Republican voters dislike Barack Obama to be sure – which is
not very surprising as base Democrats had few
positive things to say about George Bush – but these voters identify themselves
as part of a 'mocked' minority with a set of
shared beliefs and knowledge, and commitment to oppose Obama that sets
them
apart from the majority in the country. They
believe Obama is ruthlessly advancing a ‘secret agenda’ to bankrupt the United States and dramatically expand government
control to an extent nothing short of socialism.
While these voters
are disdainful of a Republican Party they view
to have failed in its mission, they overwhelmingly view a successful
Obama presidency as the destruction of this country’s
founding principles and are committed
to seeing the president fail.
Obama continues to signal that he sees this as "no big deal."
I wish my president was more politically savvy.
Is his staff warning him and is Obama then brushing them off?
Or does his staff agree that this isn't a major problem?
Excerpt: Tasked with not only protecting America's key
leaders including the most important of them all, the President,
but also with the responsibility of investigating
financial crimes such as counterfeiting, the US Secret Service is
feeling rather tasked to the maximum these days.
With the spike in death threats against the current
resident of the White House (up an alarming 400 percent
compared with when Der Fuhrer Bush was in office)
and the rise in hate groups across the United States since
this Black president took office, the 144 year
old agency faces an uphill battle to keep up with its responsibilities
in these most daunting and demanding of times.
The new demands are leading some officials, both
inside and outside the agency, to raise the possibility of the
service curtailing or dropping its role in fighting
financial crime to focus more on protecting our Black president
from the racist Christian handjobs who want him
dead.
So why does Obama continue to shrug this off like
it's nothing?
One hoax involving a helium balloon lasts 2 hours
on TV and it shows that human beings really do care
about the life of a kid in a balloon that may
crash to earth. Another hoax involving Weapons of Mass Destruction
lasts 7 years and gets [unknown thousands of]
people killed while the world watches, criticizes, and admonishes the USA.
The first hoax was put on by someone seeking a
bit of publicity. The second was put on
by someone who blew up frogs with fireworks as
a child. Which person will go to jail?
Bob in Oklahoma/Arizona
