"There seems to be a disconnect within the
right-wing worldview. They insist that the threat posed by violent is the
existential threat facing the West in the 21st century. On the other hand,
(they claim Obama-care is the real danger.)
It can't be both." -- Steve Benen,

Good point.
Terrorism is such a threat, we had to sacrifice the Constitution
to survive.
Excerpt: Dean can publicly criticize Obama's health care
bill as not worth voting for. He's not tied in any way
to this administration which is looking more
and more like the S.S. Titanic-Obama.
That's why Obama spin-meisters immediately struck
back hard at Howard Dean after his comments on the senate bill.
Press secretary Gibbs and others in the administration
even went so far as to invoke the Dean-is-crazy theme
That's a mistake - a BIG mistake.
Dean's having a 'temper tantrum' they have complained
in language that calls up images of an unstable Dean...
That was probably the worst non-Clinton slur the
media has put on somebody in the last several years.
Why has Obama treated Dean so differently than
Lieberman? Because the Obama-Rahm team
has never ever, even remotely had any common
cause with progressivism or with progressives...
Dean, of course, is a progressive. The Obama
White House also recognizes that Dean could be a political threat.
If Dean wants to, he could primary Obama in 2012.
He'd have lots of advantages. Dean has national
name recognition. He can crank up a campaign quickly and attract
the best people. He's a Washington, D.C. outsider
since Obama-Rahm did him the favor of not letting him in on their gig.
He has the backing of most progressives and liberals,
the very people who worked hard to win the White House for Obama.
Is Obama trying to be a one-termer?
They say being president is one of the worst jobs in the world.
But being an ex-president is one of the greatest jobs in the world.
Is Obama auditioning for the world's greatest job?
Excerpt: GOP Chairman Michael Tom Steele thinks Republicans
have "screwed up" for the most part since Reagan.
And, he says Rethugs won't win back the House
in fall elections and might not be ready to lead even if they do.
That forecast of failure sparked a pushback Tuesday
at the GOP and delight the Democrats.
Winning back the House would be difficult for
Republicans, who are in a 256-178 minority with one vacancy.
Steele's book, "Why I Hate Being Black," offers
his blueprint for the party's resurgence.
Asked Monday by handjob Hannity if Republicans
can regain the House, Steele said, "Not this year."
He added: "I don't know yet, because I don't
know all the candidates yet. We still have some vacancies
that need to get filled, but then the question
we need to ask ourselves is, if we do that, are we ready?"
Steele said: "Our candidates have to be anchored
in these principles ... because if they don't,
they'll get to Washington, and they'll get drunk
with power and throw the steps out the window."
I agree that Iran would be a major threat if it
had nukes.
I'm just not sure a blockade would be the answer.
What?
You mean there's a chance I'm not Dick Cheney?
US Customs, as far as Iranian imports go, has
sanctioned Iran for years.
It would be my guess we've asked our allies to
deal less with them - that hasn't worked.
The only things that can be legally imported from
Iran are carpets, pistaccio nuts, and some other damn thing.
In fact, wealthy Iranians here import carpets
to get their money out.
So, we could stop that, but what will happen
when a ship of a country that does business with Iran gets stopped by our
ships?
Like a lot of "debates" we have, we never got
to explore the idea because most people chose to attack.
We never had the torture debate, either, because
of all the knee-jerking.
We stopped doing live debates because a majority
of responders agreed with
some guy who said there was no difference
between our soldiers and al Qaeda.
Why do liberals often argue with their jerking
knees?
Why can't our side debate instead of scream insults
at our friends?
Why can't we have adult debates on these subjects?
I don't know much about war or blockades, I was
just floating an idea.
At first glance, I'd say let the rugs and nuts
go thru but not the giant oil tankers.
If we disrupted their oil shipments by 1/3, that
would cripple them financially.
Also, Russia has been doing business with them
for years, and we couldn't close that border.
Stopping their access to materials is a good
idea, I just don't know if it is feasible.
We might just have to rely on our new heavy duty
bombs on their nuke facilities.
That's what I'm trying to avoid, but yes, it might
come to that.
"We are not safe. We are in much greater danger
than we were a year ago. The North Koreans had an additional year to build missiles.
Iranians had an additional year to develop their nuclear weapons and keep paying for terrorists.
Al-Qaeda had an additional year." -- Gingrich, who knows
we didn't have those problems until Bush created them, Link
Those countries weren't building nukes when
Clinton was in office.
But Bush's military contractor contributors
couldn't make much money in peacetime
so they financed the war-monger's campaign
and look at the billions they made since.
Bart, you don't seem to realize, or maybe you
do, that we have to keep
making enemys and scaring our population so that
we can do anything we like
that gives the lucky few the bucks and power.
Its called "the American way of life."
Don
I'd like to think we'll see less of that
under Obama.
"Cheney's got $2 million to write about his
memories, and he's trying to stay in the public eye to push his book.
Who's doing the introduction to his book, ...Satan?"

Excerpt: To say that the film has evoked a storm of ire
on the right would be an understatement. Big Hollywood's John Nolte,
one of my favorite outspoken right-wing film
essayists, blasted the film, calling it "a sanctimonious thud of a movie
so
infested with one-dimensional characters and
PC cliches that not a single plot turn, large or small, surprises.... Think
of
'Avatar' as 'Death Wish' for leftists, a simplistic,
revisionist revenge fantasy where if you freakin' hate the bad guys
(America) you're able to forgive the by-the-numbers
predictability of it all."
John Podhoretz, the Weekly Standard's film critic,
called the film "blitheringly stupid; indeed, it's among the dumbest
movies I've ever seen." He goes on to say: "You're
going to hear a lot over the next couple of weeks about the movie's
politics -- about how it's a Green epic about
despoiling the environment, and an attack on the war in Iraq.... The conclusion
does ask the audience to root for the defeat
of American soldiers at the hands of an insurgency. So it is a deep expression
of anti-Americanism -- kind of.
Anti-American?
That's why 35 million Americans have paid to see it in three weeks - in Bush's horrible recession, no less - because it's anti-American?
When Mel Gibson was raking in all that socialized church money with
his boody mess of a film,
you guys said it was "the marketplace at work,"
but this much-bigger movie hates America?
This is old data, but seeing as none of the right
wing talking heads will so
much as mention "World's Best Healthcare" as
an option to our current
paradigm, there are a great many who have never
had access to this info.
That we come in 37th should piss off a bunch of
people.

Watching CNN "American Whore Morning" Wednesday,
they're making a BIG DEAL
out of the allegation that the AARP has
lost 150,000
members over health care.
The bastards got a swirling, fiery graphic that
spelled out 150,000 and they want you to think that's one goddamn
big-ass number.
"People are angry about this
health care bill," John Roberts
whined.
Then, to pretend to cover their ass, as they were
closing out the story, after your heard
the shocking headlines and went on about
your day, the sons of bitches said,
"Actually, AARP has GAINED two million members."
You lying, crooked whores!
CNN is in
the business of lying to their viewers?
After screaming about the tremendous
losses AARP had suffered,
after showing some angry tea-bagging handjobs
screaming at the TV cameras,
after giving out the false impression,
after the story has done the damage,
after making a BIG DEAL out of the "serious
loosses" AARP has suffered,
you admitted in closing that AARP
is up 1300% in new members compared to the "hit" they took from the anti-science,
tea-bagging handjobs.
Why scream
about the lost 150,000
members, then whisper
that they're up 2,000,000?
Fuck CNN,
you lying sons of bitches.
Their goal is to destroy our chance for better health care.
We must assume Time-Warner is making a profit off the mess we have
for health care now.

Excerpt: Kathy Griffin has lost her visitor's pass after
dropping the f-bomb on this year's show.
Following her semi-sort-of F-bomb-dropping New
Year's Eve hosting gig, whore CNN has decided
Kathy Griffin will NOT be getting a 2011 invite.
"She was a total embarrassment to the network.
Even Anderson Cooper, her co-host thinks it's
time to say goodbye to Kathy," a CNN insider tells me.
Not only did she semi-sorta drop the F bomb on
live TV, she also made not-so-funny jokes about
needing a "bump" of cocaine and asked Cooper
if he pleasured himself while looking in the mirror.
As sexy as the Silver Fox is ... that's just
too much, Kathy.
She was funny as hell and CNN knew what they were
buying when they signed her.
Besides, Kathy made it to the top of the heap
by being banned - that makes her dangerous
and that makes her funny and daring and that's
why people watched CNN on New Years Eve.
Like whore ABC banning Adam Lambert "for life,"
this ban might last a few months.
Get Kathy's new DVD, it's called, "She'll Cut
a Bitch."
Excerpt: Tea is the new Kool-Aid for Republicans. And
a lot of candidates and officeholders on the right are drinking
from it like a fire hose. And they tend to be
some of the bigger media magnets in the party - like Sarah Palin and
Jim DeMint, who’s hitting the headlines over
his bid to block a Transportation Security Administration nominee.
Much of the media and most Democrats are dismissive
of what is truly a grassroots movement. But the Tea Party
has shown remarkable energy in its short life
span - dating back about a year ago, when CNBC commentator
Rick Santelli went on a live-TV rant about mortgage
policy and suggested a Chicago Tea Party.
The Tea Party crowd is unlikely to actually become
a third party. But their ability to leverage energy
behind candidates and policies could be very
similar to what MoveOn.org has accomplished on the left.
But it's not the same - MoveOn.org has sane people.
The bigoted, religiously-insane tea-bagging handjobs can't even explain
what they stand for.

A group called Sensible Durango is preparing to

"We're pretty confident it will pass like it did
