"I'm not ready for outright violence yet. We
have to be civil for as long as we can," -- Teabagger Randy Miller, arming himself for civil
war, Link
Excerpt: With Saturday’s much-publicized anti-Harry Reid
rally, there is lots of talk about the effect that the
Teabaggers could have on this November’s elections.
But several polls released this week suggest that
the only thing new about the tea party movement
might be its name – and that the tea partiers themselves
are simply the loudest, most revved-up subset
of Republicans.
Quinnipiac’s survey found that, contrary to the
notion that they’re a newly mobilized force of previously
apolitical independents, tea party supporters
represent the right-most flank of the Republican core.
Teabaggers approved of the GOP by a 60 to 20
percent margin; among independents, by contrast,
the GOP’s approval was 28-42 percent.
74 percent of tea partiers identified as Republicans
or Republican-leaning independents, while only 16 percent
said they were Democrats or Democratic-leaning
independents. Only 15 percent voted for Obama, while 77 %
went for Depends McCain and Teabaggers view Palin
favorably by a 72-14 %.
If the Democrats don't do anything super-stupid between now and November
(what are the odds?)
I think we'll do OK in the next election.
"This is what has troubled me over the years:
the church's sanction of sexual predation. I cannot think of a more grave violation
of trust and faith...Abusers will at times declare, "They wanted it," "They tempted me,"
"I couldn't (or can't) help myself," "I really love them," and so forth. When the church
turns a blind eye to this evil by transferring the rapist rather than reporting them to legal authorities
and pulling them out of their office and getting him or her therapeutic help, the church becomes
a sexual predator as well." -- Emilie Townes, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs,
Yale Divinity School, Link
Lady, nobody cares.
The bastards will continue to rape kids because that's what they
do. That's why they signed up.
People seem OK with it - why bother the Church with such trivial
matters?
"Popes, like Republicans, are NEVER guilty
of anything. In fact, they’re all as pure as freshly driven snow so anything which paints
them in an unfavorable light is merely a lie and an attempt by evil-doers to smear them.
Got that? They’re innocent. They’re always innocent." -- Mario Piperni Link
There really isn't a Tea Party. The so called
"Tea Party" is just an attempt to rebrand the Republican Party
as if changing the name will make people forget
the Bush years. These people were all Bush/Cheney supporters
who couldn't care less about fiscal responsibility
when they were in power. Now they are Republicans who are
too ashamed to admit it.
I don't blame them. If I were a Republican I would
be too ashamed to admit it too. But Republicans can't seek
absolution from past sins by changing their name.
We won the 2006 and 2008 elections and with a record of
accomplishment we are poised for another big
win this year. We already took back America. This year might
end up being the end of the line for the Republican
Party.
Excerpt: You're going to have to come up with a platform
that isn't built on a foundation of cowardice:
fear of people with colors, religions, cultures
and sex lives that differ from your own.
You can't flip out -- and threaten impeachment
- when Dems use a parliamentary procedure
(deem and pass) that you used repeatedly (more
than 35 times in just one session and more than
100 times in all!), that's centuries old and
which the courts have supported.
You can't vote and scream against the stimulus
package and then take credit for the good it's done
in your own district - 114 of you (at last count)
did just that -- and it's even worse when you secretly beg for more.
You can't fight against your own ideas just because
the Dem president endorses your proposal.
You can't call for a pay-as-you-go policy, and
then vote against your own ideas.;
"Any suggestion that a leader in this body
would incite threats or acts against other members is akin to saying that I would
endanger myself, my wife or my children." -- Eric Cantor, explaing why Boner
was crying on the House floor ten days ago
and warning
us thru his tears that "Armageddon is just 24 hours away." Link
Eric, you stupid mother-effer, what to you think the mentally
unstable Rethugs
(which is the majority of them) will do when you tell them Armageddon
is 24 hours away?
Excerpt: The migration of white men from the Democratic
Party was evident in the election of Republican Scott Brown
in Massachusetts. His opponent won 52% of white
women. But white men favored Brown by 60%-to-38%.
Once again, Democrats could not win enough other
votes to compensate for the white male gap.
It's no accident that the flight of white males
from the Democratic Party has come as the government has assumed
a bigger role, including in banking and healthcare.
Among whites, 71% of men and 56% of women favor a smaller
government with fewer services over a larger
government with more services, according to ABC/Washington Post polling.
That's bullshit, but it could still kill us in November.
Obama didn't "decide" to increase the size of government - he took
action
to save us from Bush's bungling. How stupid are white men that
they can't see that?
White men wanted Detroit to fail?
White men enjoy paying $1000 a month for health care that's denied
them when they need it?
It would be nice if Democrats would say, "Bush's
tax cuts for the super-rich killed the economy by strangling the Middle class,"
but they refuse to do that because listing the facts isn't on their radar.
People won't vote for Democrats until they give them a reason to.
Bart, Danny Detroit needs to listen to This
American Life's hour-long radio show on how f-ed up GM was,
how Toyota tried to fix it, and how GM just wouldn't
listen. .
Basically, Toyota needed to start building cars
in the US or face import penalties, and GM couldn't build a car to save
their lives.
Toyota agreed to train and redesign GM's Fremont,
CA plant if they could build Corollas there. The Fremont Plant had
drinking
on the job, they put Coke bottles in the door
panels so everything would rattle (the workers hated management that much),
they put engines in backwards, Rivera noses on
Monte Carlos... The place was a mess.
Within months of moving in, Toyota fixes everything;
setting an example to GM on how to build 6,000 cars a week with no flaws.
GM didn't start implementing Toyota's model until
TWENTY Years later--just in time to file for bankruptcy!
Danny, more Japanese, Korean and German cars are
made in the US today than "American" ones.
Rather than sticking up for the companies that
f-ed you, why don't you get angry at them?
My ride? A Canadian-built F-150.

"It's 9-11 all over again except we didn't
have the collapsing buildings..." -- Glenn Beck, but don't worry

Bart, sometimes when reading your site I see a
cartoon that I like and that I think others I know might like,
so I grab it and post it on Facebook, I also
give credit to Bartcop.com in hopes that it might peak some interest
or at least gain you a little name recognition.
I think you should suggest on your website that people should share
what they like and that readers credit you when
they do.
When I look at Crooks and Liars and see something
that I would like to post I can click on the title and go to a page
that shows just that article or video, I then
copy the web address and link to it in facebook. There are times
when I
want to share some of your stuff and it would
be nice if I could link to parts of your page.
Sam
Sam, you have a good point and I might try that - putting each article
on its own page.
I just read the letter from Bob Kincaid and am
still laughing so hard I have tears running down my cheeks.
He wrote:
"Bart, take it easy on March Madness, please.
It matters to some of us. My beloved Mountaineers are the ONLY
thing that brings all West Virginians together"
Bart, I thought the only thing that brings West
Virginians together was a virgin cousin.
I'm still laughing.- Bob is a funny guy.

“It’s been a blast working on these new songs…and
I’m enjoying such creativity and vitality. It’s
been a remarkable change of direction for all of us and as a group we all seem
to have developed a new groove.” -- Robert Plant, embracing his "new direction"
...away from that awful rock n roll, Link
There's a part of me that's happy that Robert found a way to get
away from his past,
but it's like Pavaratti bragging that he'd audition for N' Sync
...and then got the gig.
Country music is where musical failures go (think Hootie).
Plant's coming to Tulsa but I won't waste my money to hear him
sing country shit.
"The only thing on earth to save the testimony
and those who follow it, are the members of the testimony, til the return of Christ in the clouds.
We, the Hutaree, are prepared to defend all those who belong to Christ and save those who aren't. We will
still spread the word, and fight to keep it, up to the time of the great
coming." -- armed militia handjobs, arrested
over the weekend, Link
The election of a Black man has driven the right-wing crazy -
er.
I hope the Secret Service is up to the task of protecting him.
I would very much like to give all those conservatives
who scream for less government
(which really means zero in their lizard brains)
and pure capitalism exactly what they want.
I urge them to please relocate immediately to
Somalia where their ideal paradise currently exists.

How fortuitous was it for me to happen to have
a Vegas trip planned that overlapped Recessionfest 2010?
I arrived on Monday at noon and called BC just
as they were getting ready for the poker game. Bart said to
check back around five as they were going to
the pinball museum. Later in the afternoon I caught a bus to the
Sahara (I was saving my precious gambling funds)
and jumped on the Monorail. I went to the Cabo Wabo to
have a beer and wait until everyone came back.
But at 6 bucks a beer and music blaring, I opted for water and
some rays on the Tequila barrel benches outside
Sammy's instead.
I most admit that after finding Rush Limba Lying
Nazi Whore 15 years ago, around Volume 20 something,
I was excited to finally meet Bart. It was awesome
to hang out with him and the folks at Planet Hollywood
and the Stratosphere. I stumbled into Recessionfest
2010 by chance, but obviously it was meant to be!
It was great to meet all you folks and a big
hearty thanks.
Bernie
PS. My only regret was not getting a chance to
shake Marc Perkel's hand.
Bernie, sorry you missed that.
Marc Perkel might be the most interesting person on the Internet.
Excerpt: For decades, a group of men who were sexually
abused as children by the Rev. Larry Murphy in Wisconsin
reported to every type of official they could
think of that he was a danger, according to the victims and church documents.
They told other priests. They told three archbishops
of Milwaukee. They told two police departments and the district attorney.
They used sign language, written affidavits and
graphic gestures to show what exactly Father Murphy had done to them.
But their reports fell on the deaf ears of hearing
people.
This week, they learned that Benny the Rat received
letters about Father Murphy in 1996 from Archbishop Weakland,
who said that the deaf community needed “a healing
response from the Church.” The Vatican sat on the case, then
equivocated, and when Father Murphy died in 1998,
he died a priest.
Benny the Rat wanted to keep the forever rapes
going.
The Pope knows there's no God.
If he thought there was a God who was watching and judging his every
move, he would've fixed this.
I'm telling you - the Catholic Church exists as a farm club for atheistic
rapists.
Year after year after year, they get a new crop of victims.
And even when they get caught, there's no price to pay - ever.
You know how the church works. It is all
about the money.
If the congregations stop funding the raping
then Benny might be looking for a new line of work.
But if his problems are only about the rapes
then Benny will never have to quit.
Hell they made the last rape enabler a saint.
Jim in Utah
I think they're trying to make the last Pope a saint.
Benny is pushing that, trying to get the ball rolling for every
pope to be a saint.
The Men
Who Stare at Goats is the preposterous story of a small-town journalist
who, trying
to prove himself in Iraq, stumbles upon George Clooney who claims to be
a psychic spy for the
U.S. Army. The movie shifts from giddy comedy to melancholy as a portrait
of human pettiness,
manifested in military paranoia and corporate greed, unfolds.
Excerpt: I was going to sit out the 2010 election because
I am not a fan of Obama anymore. And I was pretty sure
that we all felt the same way, and were willing
to let the Thugs take over the majority, even if it was by default.
But then the Teabaggers came along. They don't
really bother me, except for their lack of knowledge about
government and their deep reverence for all things
FOX. But, they are a problem for the Republican party,
because the teabaggers hate many Republicans,
if not most, as well.
Plus the recent actions in the Senate by the whining
Republicans who are refusing to let government do its job,
it's not looking so bad for the Democrats this
2010!
Excerpt: The far-right extremists have gone into conniptions. The
bullying, threats, and acts of violence following the passage
of health care reform have been shocking, but
they’re only the most recent manifestations of an increasing sense of desperation.
It’s an extension of a now-familiar theme: some
version of “take our country back.” The problem is that the country romanticized
by the far right hasn’t existed for some time,
and its ability to deny that fact grows more dim every day. President Obama
and
what he represents has jolted extremists into
the present and forced them to confront the future. And it scares them.
Even the optics must be irritating. A woman (Nancy
Pelosi) pushed the health care bill through the House. The bill’s most
visible
and vocal proponents included a gay man (Barney
Frank) and a Jew (Anthony Weiner). And the black man in the White House
signed the bill into law. It’s enough to make
a good old boy go crazy.
Hence their anger and frustration, which is playing
out in ways large and small. There is the current spattering of threats
and violence,
but there also is the
run on guns and the explosive growth of nefarious antigovernment
and anti-immigrant groups. In fact, according
to a report entitled “Rage
on the Right: The Year in Hate and Extremism” recently released
by the Southern Poverty Law Center,
“nativist extremist” groups that confront and
harass suspected immigrants have increased nearly 80 percent since President
Obama
took office, and antigovernment “patriot” groups
more than tripled over that period.
The republicans should be ecstatic over the passing
of the new law, and they probably would if only the President was a white
man.
This is not about Health Care Reform, since there’s
nothing in the new law about health care. It’s about Health Insurance
Reform,
basically either handing out gajillions of dollars
to Big Insurance companies or making it possible for them to stick their
dirty hands
into more Americans’ pockets.
It’s corporatism at its most pure, and it’s also
comical that the right is spinning this to foment hatred for this “socialist”
president,
when in fact the new law does more to help out
the big corporations and very little to help out the little guy like you
and me.
Jeff in Seattle
So why did the insurance lobby spend millions to stop reform?

We are only one delusional psychotic, who wants
to impress Jodie Foster, away from deadly violence,
and so the Tea Party decides to take its circus
of horrors, with their vitriolic speakers, on the road.
Coming to a town near you; roving bands of surly,
misinformed, Toby Keith fans, and they're armed.
I'd like to ask the folks who show up at these
rallies one question: who do you suppose is paying for
this cartoon caravan to traverse the nation's
highways, organizing pro-anarchy assemblies for the
disgruntled elderly to follow around like a bunch
of tie-dyed Deadheads? While the poor, oppressed
white people howl about "taking their country
back" from the evil, Fascist Democrats, they are being
financed by ultra-conservative, billionaire families
with names like Coors, Scaife, and Koch. Unlimited
funding is available from racketeers like the
American Enterprise Institute, or Freedom Works, the
Tea Party's sponsors, to set up front groups
to organize "grass roots" protests. The entire time the
Teabaggers are railing against big government
and the "Washington elites," former Speaker of the
House, Dick Armey, is behind the scenes stirring
the pot.
James Meredith- shot near Memphis, June 6,
1966 Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.- murdered, April

What makes it worse is Democrats don't believe in defending themselves.
When the handjobs come for us with guns, we're standing their with
f-ing baseball bats.
Our best chance is maybe the teabaggers will miss because they're laughing
so hard
at the Democrats who don't believe in protecting themselves from their
enemies.
Bart
I notice you haven't said much about how the
Vatican is playing this as a conspiracy of the media.
I guess they are talking about you.
Benny the Rat learned that trick from Rove, Cheney
& Palin.
I guess those thousands of victims are merely
caught up in mass hysteria.
Thanks for calling this for what it is. A bunch
of sick pious unregulated (if Ratzinger
is/was in charge as he states yet denies knowledge)
cloud-being worshippers with
an obviously very large budget and libido to
match.
Is there a chance 'ol Ratzy may have a few things
he is covering over with plaster and holy water?
Don't look at the man with the funny hat. There
is nothing going on here.

Excerpt: You’re the Stupid Wing of the Republican Party,
the people who have backward social ideas, fear change
because you have trouble adapting to it, and
are easily whipped into a frenzy at election time. Along with
Rich Republicans, you’re a necessary part of
any Republican win.
Generally, you are reliable voters who are easy
to ignore as the Affluent Wing of the party – The Bankers
- pick your pocket. All they have to do is to
tell you that poor people/government/liberals are he reason for
your failure. It’s such a convenient excuse –
someone else is the reason you didn’t get rich, even though you
worked hard - you lap it up like Jimmy Dean sausage
gravy.
So far, your big "revolution" consists of running
a few alternatives in primaries – but only Republican primaries
and with mixed results. It’s a typical "silent
majority" delusion – the same hubris that led Ron Paul to a one
percent showing in the last election.
If you really want to start something, start a
party. And stop whining about change. The alternative is "same"
which you claim to despise. And stay true
to your historical form and let Dick Armey and Sarah Palin pull
your strings on behalf of the RNC. Then line
up behind the next Rethug like you always do.
Excerpt: Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Caveman) has blocked passage
of a crucial package of expiring provisions,
including extended unemployment insurance benefits
that are scheduled to run out on April 5.
Coburn has balked at Democrats’ request for unanimous
consent to pass the extensions, threatening a standoff similar
to one that pitted Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Dementia)
against Democrats last month. Unless Democrats reach a deal with
this madman, senators may have to return to the
Capitol on Saturday to vote to end the filibuster, delaying the start of
the Easter recess. Coburn could even force his
colleagues to return again Sunday to vote on final passage.
