Quotes
"...the aircraft MUST BE a Lear 60 or larger
..." -- Little Miss Crabby Pant's contract for giving
a $100K speech, Link
Palin's taking those sheep for every last dime, all the time claiming
"I'm just a hockey Mom trying to keep up with
her kids like you are."
Maybe she's not running for the White House.
Being president doesn't pay $12M a year
Excerpt: Listening to Sarah Palin, it is often difficult
to determine whether her remarks demonstrate ignorance or dishonesty.
She frequently waxes on about Ronald Reagan,
for instance, revered ancestor of today's far right, whose real record
bears little resemblance to the fantasies of
extremists like her.
While attacking Obama's nuclear weapons policies
-- and the strategic arms reduction treaty that he signed with Russia
-- Palin said, "We miss Ronald Reagan, who used
to say, when he would look at our enemies, he would say:
'No. You lose. We win.' That's what we miss.
And that is what we have to get back to."
Now, Palin usually sounds bereft of even the most
basic knowledge of history, let alone diplomacy, but in this case
she had already graduated from college by the
time Reagan decided to encourage peaceful change in the Soviet Union
and rid the world of nuclear weapons entirely.
In other words, she might be expected to remember those events,
however vaguely, without reading a book.
ha ha
Reagan's utopian aspirations were never achieved,
of course, but the elimination of nuclear weapons was certainly
what he proposed, more than once, in negotiations
with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. The actual history of the
Reagan era is worth recalling for the edification
not only of Palin but of the many right-wing politicians and commentators
who blather on in the same clueless (or disingenuous)
way.
Excerpt: A huge glacier broke off and plunged into a lake
in Peru, causing a 75-foot (23-meter) tsunami wave
that swept away at least three people and destroyed
a water processing plant serving 60,000 local residents,
government officials said on Monday.
The ice block tumbled into a lake in the Andes
on Sunday near the town of Carhuaz,
some 200 miles north of the capital, Lima. Three
people were feared buried in debris.
Investigators said the chunk of ice from the Hualcan
glacier measured 1,640 feet by 656 feet.
"This slide into the lake generated a tsunami
wave, which breached the lake's levees, which are 23 meters high
-- meaning the wave was 23 meters high," said
Patricio Vaderrama, an expert on glaciers.
They use that glacier for fresh drinking water.
When it melts and they no longer have fresh water at least they'll know
they died because the liberals have been lying about the glaciers melting.
"You goddamn
right it's a lie. Those
glaciers are getting colder!"
Excerpt: Journalists often look askance at politicians
who opportunistically praise the wisdom and common sense
of the voters. Granted, some office-seekers can
be as obsequious as waiters at fancy French restaurants.
Reporters and pundits, however, can also be flatterers,
rarely more so than on Tax Day, April 15.
Perhaps because they, too, have spent the previous
weekend digging through canceled checks for itemized
deductions, many join the yearly lament about
sky-high taxes and runaway government spending.
This season's caterwauling, however, has taken
an even more self-pitying tone. The Associated Press ran a
feature headlined, "Nearly half of U.S. households
escape federal income tax." For them, the dreaded April 15
deadline "is simply somebody else's problem ...
About 47 percent will pay no federal income taxes at all for 2009.
Either their incomes were too low, or they qualified
for enough credits, deductions and exemptions to eliminate their liability."
Paradoxically, this revelation set off weeping
on the right. After campaigning for generations to slash tax rates,
many conservatives now see themselves as victims.
Washington Monthly's Steve Benen chronicled the lamentations:
"Rob Thy Neighbor," headlined the Drudge Report,
"Half of Households Pay No Fed Income Tax."...
Nothing racial about it, of course. Perish the
thought! Reading it, one couldn't guess that more than 80 percent
of Arkansas voters, hence the vast majority of
the state's Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, Unemployment
Insurance and Food Stamp recipients are as white
as the buttocks the columnist inadvertently displayed. ha
ha
But then hypocrisy and a determined refusal to
think seriously about taxes and government spending characterize
much of the U.S. electorate. Back to those households
escaping income tax, for example: How many are retirees
living on savings and Social Security? How many
soldiers? Students? How many are unemployed amid the current
recession, thus have no income to tax?
"News broke overnight that Pataki has decided
not to run for Senate, leaving Kirsten Gillibrand all but assured to win the election
for her first full term in November. (Pataki's decision not to run makes it harder for several Republicans
upstate to win House races, as they'd be counting on a solid ticket-topper to help them.)
And now comes word that Tommy Thompson won't challenge Russ Feingold in Wisconsin. With
Wisconsin and New York safe, Democrats now have good reason to believe that even a tsunami election
in November won't be able to dislodge their Senate majority, though they still expect to lose at
least three to five seats." -- Andrew Sullivan,

I'm a graphic designer by trade, and I have Photoshop.
Not clear if you're looking for someone to come
up with a design,
or to take a design idea and make it into a printer-ready
pdf file (or both.)
I know there's tons of creativity lurking among
your readership, and you're probably inundated with offers of assistance.
Not really - my request was phrased so clumsily,
the response has been minimal.
I'd be happy to help with your project if needed
though.
My IQ clocks in at a very enviable 63 if that
helps.

p.s. You and Mediawhoresonline basically kept
me sane during the first years of Bushco

said thanks so I'm saying it now.
That was nice - thanks.
I wonder what The Horse would be doing if she
were online today?

Our no-brain Democrats refuse to list the facts.
As a result, half the country wants the stupid crook back,
the guy who killed all the soldiers and the economy.
I'm not looking for a bumper sticker slogan.
Christ, if you could think of snappy slogans you'd have f-ing KOS money.
I'm looking for some sweeping, hammer-lightning-comet logo graphic for

Hell, I don't care if you steal it.
A Bartcop.com sticker in the Superman font would be cool.
A maybe a Spiderman thingy..

Excerpt: Last Friday, Rush Limbaugh asked why a coal miner
union didn’t protect the 29 miners who were killed
when Massey Energy’s Upper Big Branch Mine in
Montcoal, WV, exploded under unsafe conditions:
"Was there no union responsibility for improving
mine safety? Where was the union here? Where was the union? The union is generally holding these companies
up demanding all kinds of safety. Why were these miners continuing to work in what apparently was an unsafe atmosphere?"
There’s a simple reason the union didn’t protect
the miners: the Upper Big Branch Mine, like nearly all of the mines
under Massey CEO Don Blankenship’s control, is
non-union. In fact, the United Mine Workers of America (UMW)
"tried three times to organize the Upper Big
Branch mine, but even with getting nearly 70 percent of workers to sign
cards
saying they wanted to vote for a union, Blankenship
personally met with workers to threaten them with closing down
the mine and losing their jobs if they voted
for a union."
Everyone thinks Hillary would be a good SC
justice. Agreed. But to get those other thugs in line, Obama
should appoint a "young" ( 40's) BLACK WOMAN. Let's see them fillibuster that! I m
sure there's plenty qualified. That would break the last glass ceiliing.
So why not nominate Michelle?
Wouldn’t that put a kink in the colons of the
Rethugs?!

Excerpt: If Sarah Palin still has any plans to run for
president, now might be an ideal time to call them off.
A large majority of Americans already consider
her unqualified. But now even a considerable plurality
of Teabaggers, her political epicenter, deem
her unfit for the job, according to a new poll released Thursday.
Forty-seven percent of self-identified Tea Partiers
say Palin is unqualified, while 40 percent say qualified.
Thirteen percent were too stupid to understand
the question..
Get a grip Dorothy. Sarah Palin ran for Governor
of Alaska campaigning by telling the residents
all the things she was going to do for them.
They believed and they elected her only to have her quit on them
when the going started getting a little too rough.
She quit which means she went back on her word
to them and after she took the OATH of Office.
She quit and she lied. After that incredibly
easy interview with Katie Couric when Palin couldn't even name
one newpaper that she read now she has all questions
pre-screened so her handlers can come up with the
answers for her well in advance. SP is dummer
than a box of rocks and you and all the other tea baggers
are gulping her koolade. Makes me want to barf!

Excerpt: Obama's national standing has slipped to a new
low after his victory on the historic health care overhaul,
even in the face of growing signs of economic
revival, according to the latest poll.
The survey shows the political terrain growing
rockier for Obama and congressional Democrats heading
into midterm elections, boosting Republican hopes
for a return to power this fall.
Just 49 percent of people now approve of the job
Obama's doing overall, and less than that — 44 percent
— like the way he's handled health care and the
economy. Last September, Obama hit a low of 50 percent
in job approval before ticking a bit higher.
His high-water mark as president was 67 percent in February of
last year, just after he took office.
The news is worse for other Democrats.
His base isn't happy, the Rethugs and Teabaggers
hate his guts - who is he making happy?
No telling how bad it will be, but yes, it looks
like a replay of 1994.
The president is seen as "going too far" and
his own party keeps stabbing him in the back.
The good news?
It's still six months until the election.
If you're going to have hard times, have them
now.
But, as always, the Democrat's biggest problem
is their refusal to list the facts.
The Bush bastards stole America's future and
voters want Obama to fix that - right now.
Here's an example:
Do you think anybody knows there taxes are lower?
No, because the idiot Democrats refuse to list the facts.
The Rethugs are going to run on tax cuts (for the super-rich)
and braindead voters will eat that shit up with a giant spoon.
Things ARE getting better, but the Dems are keeping that a secret.
Subject: Cable news silent when
Democrats win elections
The first post Health Care Reform election was
held but you won't see any news about it on the cable news
networks because a Democrat won. On April 13th
Democrat Ted Deutch won 62% to 35% over Republican
Ed Lynch in a special election for Congress held
in Florida that was billed as a referendum on health care,
the Obama administration, and the direction that
America is heading.
If a Republican had won the news coverage would
be covered continuously and would be hailed as the end
of the Democratic party. But when Democrats win
elections the Republican owned media doesn't say a word about it.
I don't know why the media is on a mission to
elect Republicans this year but we took back
America in 2008 and we aren't going to give it
up in 2010 in spite of media bias.
TV has a problem and I'm tired of seeing it.
It's the back-and-forth time traveling crap.
They start an hour on TV, then 2 minutes into
it, they say "Six years ago." Suddenly, everybody has more hair and their make-up
is different - and they speak 1985.
Then something happens and the TV says, "Present
day" and then 2 minutes into that, they say
"Six
years ago."
Seems like this crap has infected half the shows
on TV and I'm sick of it.
Truth is, most producers and directors have no
goddamn idea what they're doing,
but they saw Tarantino forge the cinematic Holy
Grail with time-shifting in Pulp Fiction, so now every tempus fugit with a HandiCam
thinks he's Hollywood's Next Big Thing.
New Rule: If you're name doesn't begin with "Q" and doesn't
end with "T,"
and if you're not Robert
Zemeckis or Winrich
Kolbe or Francis
Ford Coppola we're just fine without your silly-ass time-shifting.
If you can't tell the story straight,
maybe it's just not worth telling.
You know, they sentenced more women to burn at
the stake for being "witches" on far less "evidence."
Apparently, torturing the innocent is a long-standing
tradition.

Excerpt: Friends of Elin say she’s reached her breaking
point. It was bad enough that Tiger went against her wishes
and returned to golf, but now Elin is also reportedly
furious over Tiger’s recent Nike commercial, which
tastelessly included his late father, Earl Woods.
“She was violently angry … and thought it was a cheesy thing to do,”
a friend of Elin’s tells People. “She wouldn’t
have gone near the Masters under any condition, but that just
made her madder. She is over Tiger. I wouldn’t
be surprised if she files for divorce sometime soon.”
“She’s so far beyond hurt now,” a source tells
People. “If she were angry or if she hated him, they might
still have a chance to work it out. But she’s
beyond that. She’s numb. She just doesn’t care anymore.
She’s like, ‘Whatever.’ Elin’s not the type to
get all weepy or have pity parties for herself. She mourned
the loss of this marriage, and now she’s moving
on.”
Can Tiger change?

party and country, Link
