Bart, there is a reason why Democrats are wimps. The difference between Repugnicans
and Democraps is to be found in the difference between the way they raise their kids.
First, Repugnicans are authoritarian, which means that they were raised to fear and
respect authority over their own ideas. Democraps are nurturers who raise their children
to ask questions and challenge authority.
It’s much easier to be an authoritarian. You just cringe and do as you are told when
daddy whips yer ass. To be a nurturing person, however, involves careful consideration
of the other’s emotions. Authoritarians are rigid thinkers, which, by the way, is one of
the first signs of Alzheimer’s disease. Nurturers work hard to learn new things, question
authority, and embrace multiple points of view.
Authoritarians lose when they embrace the wild ravings of their daddy figures,
and go boldly into a ditch. Nurturers lose when they just can’t make up their minds.

Hey Bart,
I recently read a book about American candy companies. In short, Milton Hershey was a nice fellow who
took care of his employees and whose company became a public company. Milton was a manufacturing
genius who invented powdered milk so that he could invent milk chocolate. Mars was built by Frank Mars,
a vicious asshole who was a great marketer and who willed Mars to his vicious asshole kids, who still own it.
And then in the 1980s, St. Ronald of Sacramento told Big Business that He wasn't going to enforce those
pesky antitrust laws and Mars went on a buying spree, purchasing and closing little candy companies across America.
Hershey was forced to compete, but tended to merge operations instead of shutting them down.
And most "foreign" chocolate (Cadbury, Lindt) are made by either Hershey or Mars under a license.
So if you want commercial chocolate, you either pick Hershey or you pick Mars.
After reading the book, I will only buy Hershey.
Surely even darkest Oklahoma has a good chocolate shop by now.
Good chocolate is expensive, but a little bit goes a long way.

For M&Ms and Mars candy, there’s usually a 10 digit code of numbers and letters,
but you only need to worry about the first three. The first number is the last number in
the year (8 means 2008, 7 means 2007, etc) and the next two numbers stand for the week
of the year (so, a number like 804 would be the fourth week of 2008: February 2008).
But why do we need to know the code to determine freshness?
Clearly, they're trying to hide the truth from their customers.

Here's today's Greenville News' cartoon about Alvin Greene,
YIn other SC News, it's interesting to note that Nikki Haley (R-Muslim) is not garnering much support
(yard signs, bumper stickers, etc) even in the rich Greenville neighborhoods that usually always display
their Repug candidates with pride.
Recent news stories have documented her incompetence and illegal bookkeeping and accounting practices
when she worked for her families business, and she has lots of ties to Sanford who doesn't have ANY support.
Add to that the fact that the Democratic nominee is sharp, well-spoken and QUALIFIED and SC might just
turn blue this November. I'll believe it when I see it, though we have had 1 since I moved here in 1981.
