Subject: Voter anger Voters are angry this year. The Republicans are trying to capitalize on the anger and direct it against the Democrats desperately hoping that the voter has a short memory. However - no amount of anger is going to solve America's problems. I'm sure each and every one ofus has noticed that decisions we make from anger often are decisions we later regret. This year voters have a choice to either vote their anger, or try to figure out which candidate has the best plan to actually solve our country's problems. So when you listen to candidates this year ask yourself if the candidate has a plan or is trying to inflame you in order to suppress good judgment. We have to ask ourselves if we still want to be angry 10 years from now or do we want to look back and be proud we made the right choices. "Democrats - at least, the spineless cowards now in office - are wholly unfit to lead. Of course I'll vote, blah, blah, blah - I've never missed an election in 25 years - but this is enough to discourage anyone. The President and Vice-President have it almost exactly backwards: I (and I think other progressives) am not discouraged because of Republican opposition to our policies. I'm thoroughly discouraged by the fact that - even when dealt a winning hand like middle class tax cuts - the Democrats fold. There's every indication that we're going to get our clocks cleaned and I'm hoping the silver lining to the upcoming bloodbath will be getting these worthless pussies out of the party. We have to do better." -- Pacific NW Mark, Link He is exactly right. Obama and this batch of Democrats are the worst poker players in history. Even when they're dealt Aces, they figure it's better to fold than stick around and collect their winnings. Democrats have been the party of "Surrender early and often" for far too long. And here I LOVED Burns’ stuff. Hey! I was living 5 blocks from the Capitol during all that awful Clinton impeachment crap and I couldn’t believe the damn Congress taking time from the world’s problems to descend into THAT idiocy. Sometimes I feel I’m living in the Twilight Zone. Debbie from Milwauke The worst part is how unnecessary it was. I'm a political guy and I could write about sports all day without dragging up some dirt. Plus did you notice many of the interviews were with political people? Why? Taibbi?
Hey Bart, On one of my discussion boards, Taibbi is getting a lot of love, especially for his recent Tea Party article. I've seen you call him a liar, but I wasn't to able to find out why. If you have a chance, can you explain why you hate Taibbi. Thanks. Alan Alan, I don't hate him, I just don't trust him. Bottom line, he can't separate facts from allegations. In 2008, he was metaphorically screaming "that fucking whore" at Hillary while screaming tons of horseshit about Mena Airport and Vince Foster etc. It was like he got his talking points from Rush. He was also one of those "mind readers" who knew EXACTLY what Hillary was thinking at all times. He hates Hillary's f-ing guts, I get that. But he, along with Randi Rhodes and Kos and Robert Parry and dozens of others, sacrificed their credibility to unfairly smear Hillary. They had no substantive charges so they just made shit up. He's a liar, a whore, a bully and a coward so I don't trust him. Taibbi can still be a fun read but how do you trust someone with a history of bald-faced lies? last issue's History Mystery
Bart, last issue's history mystery is a scene from the TV show filmed in Dec. 1968 put together by Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones. It was filmed but never relaesed until 1996. From Wikipedia: "The event comprised two concerts on a circus stage and included such acts as The Who, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, and Jethro Tull. John Lennon and his fiancee Yoko Ono performed as part of a supergroup called The Dirty Mac, along with Eric Clapton, Mitch Mitchell, and Keith Richards. It was originally meant to be aired on the BBC, but the Rolling Stones withheld it because they were unhappy with their performance. The Stones contended that they withheld the film's release due to their substandard performance, because they had taken the stage early in the morning and were clearly exhausted. Many others believe that the true reason for not releasing the video was that The Who, who were fresh off a concert tour, upstaged the Stones on their own production. The Stones had not toured recently, and were not in top playing condition, as The Who were. Tim in Sycamore, IL Subject: last issue's History Mystery A no-brainer for this die-hard Beatle fan. This was The Rolling Stones Rock N Roll Circus concert shot at the end of 1968. Organized by the Stones, featuring The Who, Jethro Tull and The Dirty Mac comprised of John Lennon, Eric Claption, Mitch Mitchell and Keith Richards.
