The "grand compromise" will cut nearly $39B in needed government spending, which proves how "serious" everyone is about reducing the deficit. The grand compromisers could have cancelled the next ten years of tax subsidies for oil companies and cut the deficit by forty billion, but apparently that's not how serious people do things..." -- RL Eskow, Link Send e-mail to Bart Subject: American Idol Bart Sorry, but I'm no Liberal. shit W was a liberal. I'm a Socialist and Proud of it. I watch Idol because I LOVE seeing young people excel, and like it or not, this competition brings that out in them. Of course, the voted eliminations are almost completely arbitrary, but that's only because by the time they kick in, it's down to very talented people competing song for song and any of them could do it, but only one will. I don't miss Cowell, my Irish and Orkney blood boils involuntarily at displays of Brit arrogance. Steven's much nicer than his roadies were to me in '79 when I got pulled under the stage and stomped, and he brings a moral mentorship to the process. J-Lo's a good casting to replace Paula if she had to be. Did she have to be replaced though? I absolutely don't miss whoever it was that was as the odd 4th last season; the woman with no independent opinions. I'm a Casey fan this year. I'm a sucker for someone who CAN play the bass. RG It's a weird thing about Paula. They gave Seacrest an $11M deal (I don't even think he asked for a raise) so Paula asked if she could get a raise (I think she was making $4M). The cheap bastards said no to Paula and then replaced her with Jennifer Lopez who, according to press reports, is getting $14M and Tyler told Howard Stern he was getting more than JLo. As far as voting, you never hear Idol say, "Voting certified by XYZ accounting firm." I think the voting is fixed - they're not under oath when they give those voting tallies. Seafoam claims they get 50M votes, but that could be 5M. Sorry the Aerosmith roadies gave you a pounding :) Send e-mail to Bart Click for subscription info, FAQs and Options Why subscribe? Send e-mail to Bart Subject: more boot, please Thanks for the Monkey Mail designation, pussy...that's become a badge of honor. Monkeys have odd badges of honor - what's next, a dunce cap? To date I've rec'd almost twenty replies, all but two -- childish and filled with misspellings -- agreeing with me. Yes, many of my readers can't stand the Clintons. The ninties were the worst times ever, for many of them. And, what an asinine reply...you're getting weaker and weaker, you pathetic, hero worshipping fool... I can't name a better president???!! What a joke. If it's so easy, why can't you do it? Just pick any Democrat in the last hundred years besides Obama who continues down the corporate whore trail blazed by Boobba. Do you think it's a coincidence that Rahm was the butt boy for both of them...or, more likely, vice versa? So, you STILL can't name a better president. Do you enjoy playing the fool? Or are you not playing? Which mythical, magical president did a better job than Clinton? And if you have to go back to a guy who took office in 1933, it proves my point, Monkey. Now, tell me...what do you do when you see The Big List of Clinton deregulations and the dismantling of the real Democrat President, FDR's economy saving legislation...go into a little coma and come out the other end having forgotten it all, you weak minded pissant? Yeah, that sounds like me. They're all right there and all verifiable and undeniable. Love, Ruprecht II Clinton's administration was what it was. When he was in charge, our biggest problems were Monica and how to spend the surplus. The fact is - with all his faults and missteps - he was the best we've had in several generations. You can argue with the facts, but you will not have any success. BTW, Bananas are high in B vitamins that could help calm your frazzled monkey nerves. Send e-mail to Bart Subject:

Reform is a little buzz word I'm hearing a lot these days. It's simple, and here's the translation: reform = cut That is all. Lori Send e-mail to Bart
Study: GOP brains Abby-normal, compared to Dems Link Excerpt: Using data from MRI scans, researchers at the University College London found that liberals have a larger anterior cingulate cortex--a gray matter of the brain associated with understanding complexity. Meanwhile, conservatives are more likely to have a larger amygdala, an almond-shaped area that is associated with fear, anxiety and all-round assholiness. We knew it all the time, didn't we? That's why Rethugs need 24/7 reassurance on their wild-ass beliefs. That's why they need Rush and Hannity and Beck and FOX News, to constantly remind them that we're wrong and they're right. Send e-mail to Bart Subject: leaving Obama Hey Bart. It's not so much as leaving Obama as it is him leaving us. Basically he lied about the change that he would bring to America, Some small change yes, corporate kowtowing and GOP pandering. way too much. Paul of Seattle Maybe "lied" is too strong a word. I think it's more likely that he's a little too inexperienced for the job. Had the race card not been played, he would've made a great VP. Then, with 8 years experience, his presidency could've been stellar. Send e-mail to Bart Quotes "One piece of excellent news, though. Taxpayers will no longer be burdened with the budget strain of keeping the gray wolf on the endangered species list. The two Democratic Senators from Montana fought hard and they won the right to shoot them. So that's good." -- Digby Link Let's hope Digby was being sarcastic. My buddy Wiseguy has the biggest collection of live rock concerts ever. He's started a pirate radio kind of site where you can hear live rock music that you've probably never heard before. Over the weekend I tuned into his "ABC" set, which featured live music from Aerosmith (1990) that had Peter Gunn inserted into the middle of Sweet Emotion, then Boston doing More Than a Feeling live in Philly (1976) and it closed out with Collective Soul doing a live song on 12-31-99. He tells me future podcasts will be an hour or so. Send e-mail to Bart Subject: Barry Bonds Hey Bart, I'm with you on the Bonds trial...he gets the screws because it's so unimportant. I remember on Capital Hill the baseball players had to take an oath to testify to Congress ... But the oil executives did not, of course There you have it It's because Obama brings "doesn't give a shit" to the level of a sacrament. Sadly, Hillary wasn't "courageous" enough to lead the charge to ruin teachers and freeze the elderly for endless billionaire tax breaks.......so they had to stop her. keep swinging! Quotes "Social Security cannot exist if we want America to be what we want America to be." -- Eric Cantor, charged with destroying Social Security, Link I'm so old, I remember a time when threatening to kill Social Security was a career killer. But our surrender-in-advance president has emboldened the thieves. Send e-mail to Bart Subject: Eldrick
On the post tournament interviews, Tiger was surly, insincere, and disrespectful. He had made a considerable comeback to end up tied for fourth position, but the 35 year old was miffed that he had not won. How sad - washed up at 35. On the other hand, the 21 year old phenom from Ireland, Rory McIlroy, who started out the final day 4 strokes in the lead, ballooned to shoot 80 and ended up in fourteenth place. In his interview, Rory was composed, candid, and respectful of his interviewer and the audience. He admitted to falling apart on the second nine of the course, but said that he hoped to learn from the experience and would be back with greater resolve. It would seem that Mr. McIlroy, though he is young in years, is the far more mature of the two golfers. M Lamont Send e-mail to Bart On Wednesday, is he going to announce Medicare "reform?"
