Quotes "Obama was selected before he was elected, and he is accountable to those who selected him. Why do you think Wall Street got the break? Why do you think the big three [financial institutions] were bailed out? Those were the ones who selected him. We didn’t select him. We don’t have enough money to select anybody. You’re accountable to those who select you. All politicians are. Given those constraints, he is doing the best he can because he is accountable to the ones that put him where he is." -- Rev Jeremiah Wright, Link Seems like if you're going to make a charge like that, you should have proof. Send e-mail to Bart Obama, Our Scared President
A new book alleges that Obama's staff ignored his orders - and got away with it. Link While news stories about Ron Suskind's new book "Confidence Men" have emphasized Tim Geithner's supposed betrayal of Barack Obama on the question of winding down Citigroup, we should all be more interested in what the book tells us about Obama. The early accounts suggest that we should worry what he's learned in the job so far. Geithner and Summers and Rahm Emanuel, and perhaps others, sometimes ignored Obama, refused to carry out his orders, and, in Summers's case, mocked him, saying at one point to then-Budget Director Peter Orszag that "there's no adult in charge" in the White House. And while I don't yet know whether Suskind emphasizes this point, let's carry the critique one step further: They did so, as far as we know, without suffering any consequences at all. I have no idea if this is true, but it sure fits Obama's pattern. He never gets mad, he never threatens to fire anyone, he always goes along to get along and if his employees tell him "Go fuck yourself," I'm sure he looks past their anger and smiles. Obama might make a great monk or priest, but he's perhaps not well-suited to be president. Think of all the bad things people ever said about Der Monkey Fuhrer. Nobody ever called him a doormat. Link You know I have a thing for Sarah Palin, I do. I think she’s hot! I wouldn’t vote for her, but she is hot now. I’m talking both. I’ve always said, ‘I’ve got a crush on Sarah Palin.’ I would never vote for her. I always vote democratic because I think you have a better chance of helping poor people if you vote democratic. But, I’ve always had a thing for Sarah. When I read that… Glen Rice is my new hero! He’s my new hero. You know she just moved in my neighborhood and I haven’t had a chance to meet her. I’m heading back to Arizona soon and I look forward to meeting Sarah Palin. Hmm, sounds like Sir Charles thinks he has a shot at Palin, too. Send e-mail to Bart Subject: Where is the NASA money coming from? NASA announced a new rocket system that can take people to Mars and needs some 35 billion dollars over the next 10 years to develop it. Republicans are asking, "Where's the money going to come from?" So how do we pay for it? If we were to get out of Afghanistan and Iraq 3 1/2 months earlier that would pay for it. Or we could end the tax cuts for the rich one year early. We could pay for NASA with about 1/2 of what we gave Bank of America in the bailout. Or about what we spent to save General Motors and Chrysler? When Wall Street calls for money we hand them trillions but when we want to explore the galaxy we have no money for that. I think that humanity needs to start putting science before war and start figuring out how to become a multi-planet species because the Earth isn't going to be around forever and one big natural disaster and we're all gone. Murdoch offers Dowlers millions
but No, they want their day in court Link Rupert Murdoch is prepared to pay the family of Milly Dowler $4.7 million to settle their dispute, but the family is said to be seeking more. The $4.7 million figure includes a personal £1m donation to charity by Rupert Murdoch, as well as contributions to the family's legal costs. But Dowler family lawyers were "thought to be seeking a settlement figure closer to £3.5m," the paper said. The family has not filed suit against that bastard yet. Allegations that News of the World hacked the phone of murdered teenager Milly Dowler in 2002 first surfaced in July, and Murdoch decided to shutter the tabloid shortly thereafter. Three

For a brief moment in time we were all Americans, a sense of commonality, of oneness with the American people that was quickly lost. The opportunity to build a better world together was sickenly squandered by a small man president who wanted to prove himself better than his father, and an unprincipled and venal vice president grabbing his last opportunity to abusively exercise real power." -- Andrew Link Send e-mail to Bart Would Ron Paul supporters let their mothers die without health insurance? by the often sane Brent Budowsky Link Here is my question for Ron Paul supporters. Assume your mother got laid off her job and lost health insurance and needed emergency treatment. Assume your mother did a bad job at work, was fired and lost insurance. Assume your mother could not get insurance because of a pre-existing condition. Would you let your mother die under these conditions? Would you support the Obama view that people with pre-existing conditions should at least be covered? I have tried to be fair to Ron Paul, but what he said in the debates is scary. Of course it would be great if churches, and others, would care for these people, and in many cases they do. But on matters of life and death, this is a cop-out. What if they don't? To Ron Paul supporters, if your mother faced any of the situations I described above, would you place your libertarian philosophy ahead of your mother's life, and let her die because of it? Or do you believe, as I do, that the Obama plan is right about pre-existing conditions, at least? Brent, you're not debating sane people. Arguing with a Teabagger is like trying to negotiate with al Qaeda. Their taxes are lower than they were under Reagan - they don't care. Perry and Palin are brainless idots - they don't care. They only know one thing: "There's a nigger in the White House and we want a White Republican, instead." Send e-mail to Bart Business slow? Time to advertise! let people know you're still here. Screw that Nigger - Let's Kill Him Innocence is not a factor in the South - if you're Black Link Have you heard about Troy Davis? They convicted him of murder with NO physical evidence - it was all eye-witness testimony. Years later 7 of the 9 witnesses said cops pressured them to finger Davis. Now their going to execute him even tho he's probably innocent. In America, if there's a question about your guilt, they kill you anyway and it's all because God gave him dark skin. Why does God make such mistakes? Send e-mail to Bart Subject: Casey Anthony Bart We're on the same page about 99.9% of the time but I've got to disagree with you on this one. While Anthony was found not guilty on the Murder charge, she was found guilty on providing false information in a police investigation (all the time people were searching for the missing 'babysitter', etc. etc.) This racked up huge costs to the police, and it's only right that she be held accountable for those. Roger the Lawyer How
many murder defendants are 100% honest about every word they tell the
cops?
Couldn't they charge every murder defendant with a perjury count every time they said, "I didn't do it?" Doesn't this send a message to all juries that even if there's not enough evidence to convict on the big charges, find her guilty of something so we can go ahead and ruin whatever life she has left after the trial? What's to prevent an over-eager District Attorney from filing 40-50 charges, hoping that the jury will come back on something - enough to screw-over whoever they arrest? Send e-mail to Bart I assume Obama wants to "look forward" when it comes to blame for the Gulf Disaster? If you get caught with pot, or playting poker, you are in serious trouble with the law because those things are dangerous and cause great harm. If you foul the Gulf and cause billions in damage, the report says "Lots of blame to go around" and then they drop it because - fuck if I know why... You can go totally Hawaiian (I miss Frank Zappa)
Send e-mail to Bart At least now, Obama can say, "I tried to pass a jobs bill, but Boehner said "No way" so that's why you're jobless." He won't do that because it might hurt John's feelings. Had I been on Obama's team, this would've been Obama's 33rd job bill turned down by the GOP, but nooooooooooo. Obama doesn't want to win. TV Stuff
I thought the new Two and a Half Men lacked chemistry - it wasn't as funny. The show was Charlie's show - it was written specifically for him. Last night was like seeing the Rolling Stones with Ashton Kutcher on vocals - it's just not the same. If you were a TAH Men fan, you probably didn't like it. If you tuned in for the first time, you probably did. The Charlie Sheen Roast was trashy and kinda funny. William Shatner and Mike Tyson stole the show. It repeats all week if you want to see it. Did you hear about the Steve-O joke? At the Sheen Roast taping, he said: "The last time this many nobodies got roasted, Great White was playing." Tacky joke - so tacky, they deleted it from the broadcast, but not to worry: CNN repeated the too-offensive-to-braodcast joke again and again and again. Why do they do that? If it was offensive and tasteless when Steve-O said it, why is it acceptable for the CNN ducklings to quack about it? Ringer, starring Sarah Michelle Geller is on again tonight - did you see the premier? I expected some decent production values but I did not see them. That boat scene was more fake than a Toonces the Cat bit on SNL. And really, why would two young women take a 14-foot boat out on the open ocean and then one of them decides to take a f-ing nap (!) and when she awakes, she's alone? The script writers couldn't do any better than that? If they had sent me the script, I could've punched it up for $100. Kathy Griffin has a new stand-up special tonight on Bravo - Kathy Griffin Pants Off! The NCISes return tonight, and we'll be checking Unforgettable starring Poppy Montgomery.
