The White House on Thursday bluntly told Syria's al-Assad to "stop killing your people" as Obama
closely watched whether Syrian forces kept the terms of a fragile cease-fire brokered by Kofi Annan.
In an unusually direct statement to the regime in Damascus, Obama press secretary Jay Carney said from
the White House podium: "Our message is to the Assad regime: Stop killing your people. Stop the violence.
Commit yourself to a cease-fire. Commit yourself fully to implementing the Annan plan. Remove your troops,
withdraw your materiel, your weapons, from urban population centers. And I hope that this message is heard."
It appears Obama has taken a step here.
By issuing the order to stop, if Assad doesn't, Obama will have to take the next step.
So, Obama has set in motion a plan to do something about Syria.
It's about time.

The move was a classic example of what has become a consistent Romney maneuver:
projecting his own vulnerabilities onto his opponent, in this case his toxic polling with women voters.
But Romney’s move quickly revealed the dangers of playing on your opponent’s territory.
A group of Romney advisers held a conference call immediately after the Fox News interview
in which they repeated Romney’s “92 percent” claim and lamented the “enormous damage” done
to women under Obama. But when three reporters asked the logical follow up — why are there
fewer jobs for men in recent months and what would Romney do to fix the gender gap in hiring?
— they were unable to offer any explanation.
Another obvious follow-up question, “Does Romney support the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act,
which makes it easier for women to sue over pay discrimination and was Obama’s first signed law?”
generated only a long, awkward pause before an aide finally said: “We’ll get back to you on that.”
Ir's hard to believe our whore press actually asked a question that counted.
Many gasbags can be popped with a simple, "Explain yourself," but nobody
ever says that. It's like our whore press gets paid to keep us uninformed.

However - it's what Newt didn't say that makes me wonder if he's serious about gun rights.

serving 2 term as President of the United States - if he would extend gun rights to the moon.

Dark, unsubstantiated theories that he was murdered mushroomed immediately, (that's fitting) while
24 of his friends used the hashtag #DJBreitbart on Twitter to offer a playlist of his beloved '80s music.

Who was his favorite, Winger or Richard Marx?
His own Twitter account (which included more than 80 tweets sent on the day before his death)
now sits as a frozen memorial.
In the days following his death, many of his admirers adopted a meme of "I am Breitbart," and vowed
to continue his work of telling lies and distorting the truth. . But even though his Web site, run by his
business partner and lifelong friend Larry Solov, is fully staffed and unveiled a redesign after his death,
there could be no real replacement.
For good or ill (and most would say ill), no one did it like Mr. Breitbart.

double-douchebag Dana Milbank in a piece that also dubbed the rule “gimmicky.”
Substantively, the most common Buffett Rule critique is that, according to some GOP handjobs,
it would raise only $47 billion over 10 years — a thimble in the nation’s ocean of debt.
Exactly - we need to raise taxes on the super-rich by a lot, not a little.
If they don't like it, I hear taxes are low in Yemen.

Again, people have issue with the notion of the executive making the determination
that someone has joined with the enemy and then carrying out a punishment.
I would guess that's a minority point of view.
The process, according to the constitution, is for the charge to be adjudicated in a court of law.
Stripping a citizen of their due process rights, and imprisoning or executing them, based solely
on the word of the executive, is unamerican, and entirely unconstitutional.
I can't fathom that you don't get that, even if you think Alwaki deserved it.
Why do we even have a court system if the executive gets this power?
The cops or Zimmerman doing the same judge, jury, executioner act, is hardly compelling.
