The White House is insisting Obama will not extend the Bush-era tax cuts for wealthier Americans – even temporarily.
Jay Carney said the president has been clear in his opposition to extending tax cuts for incomes above $250,000.
Tax cuts for people of all incomes are due to expire at year's end.
Pressed directly on whether Obama would support a temporary extension,
Carney said: "He will not. Could I be more clear?"
Yes, but Obama has been "clear" before.
He's always "clear" until Bitch and Boner tell him, "That's not going to happen,"
which is usally followed by Obama asking, "Well then, what can I get?"
Then Bitch and Boner laugh and kick him in the teeth.
That's Obama's negotiating "style."
If we see a good fight from Obama on this issue it will be because it's an election year.
Obama tends to sleep thru fights in non-election years.

The Afghan government accused the Taliban Wednesday of poisoning schoolgirls by bribing
students and workers to sneak toxic chemicals into drinking water or spread it around school grounds,
sickening scores. Fifteen suspects have been arrested, officials said.
Government officials said six schools were affected in the past three weeks, and though they
did not give a total number of girls who got sick, they said one school alone had 125 cases.

ON Dunemere Drive, just about everyone has a gripe against the new owners of No. 311.
The elderly woman next door complains that her car is constantly boxed into her driveway.
A few houses over, a gay couple grumbles that their beloved ocean views are in jeopardy.
Down the street, a widow grouses that her children’s favorite dog-walking route has been disrupted.
Bellyaching over the arrival of an irritating new neighbor is a suburban cliché, as elemental to the

Miss PA: Miss USA Pageant "rigged"

The Miss USA pageant representative from Pennsylvania resigned her crown claiming the contest is rigged.
A posting on Miss Pennsylvania Sheena Monnin's Facebook page claims another contestant learned the names
of the top 5 finishers on Sunday morning – hours before the show was broadcast.
Monnin claims the other contestant told her the names of the top 5 she spotted on a planning sheet for
the telecast – and she decided to step down as soon as those same contestants were named during the show.
What?
Contests on TV are rigged?
You mean it's not a coincidence that the finalists always include girls from heavy
population centers like New York, California, Tejas, Ohio and Florida?
I'm sure Donald Trump would never get involved in anthing as shady as rigging a beauty contest
to reward the women who are seeking fame so desparately that they'd sleep with a pig like Trump.

corporate power that is the true villain. Union leaders need to remind people why they
were formed in the first place and how they've made life better for working people.

Bart, I believe that there are two key elements involved here. One is what I would call
the curse of success. I am a retired Michigan teacher who had two years of teaching
experience when, in 1965, the collective bargaining law was passed. My career began
with a $5000 salary, no health care, no pension. By the time I retired, my salary had
increased my a multiple of 10. My health coverage continues and I have a decent pension.
Today's teachers take all this as a given and don't realize that decent working conditions
must be fought for and protected every minute of every day.
This leads to what may be the more important of the two. I believe that today's labor force
has little knowledge of the whole labor movement in this country. How much do workers
today know about Walter Reuther, John L. Lewis, Samuel Gompers, the Haymarket riots,
Ludlow mine disaster, Pullman strike, or even about the air traffic controllers?
How much of this are we subjected to on our token holiday, Labor Day?
Compare that with Memorial Day and Veterans' Day.
Why is it that newspapers have a business section, but no labor section?
I can assure you that one will find next to nothing written about labor history
in our corporate written school text books.

when I have opportunity & feel as though the USA has seen its better days.

From what I've heard, Walker's campaign spent 7 times more than Barrett's campaign.
Much of the voting public believes anything they're told if it's repeated enough.
(Not everyone has the time or inclination to look things up and do their own research.)
I didn't follow Walker's campaign too closely, but I doubt he made his anti-union stance
a visible part of his campaign.
With all due respect to you, I'm not sure it's true that Democrats can win by merely
listing the facts. It's not that simple. Listing the facts in a campaign requires spending
money, and with limited campaign funds, voters don't get to hear the message.

I'm angry with two entities today - ESPN and Yahoo.
Two weeks ago, I watched the last three televised hours of 2011's World Series of Poker on ESPN.
When the third hour was over, there were 27 dudes still playing in the Main Event.
So I checked the schedule and saw they had three more hours scheduled for the next Sunday
so I set my DVR to record them and waited like a ten-year old boy on Christmas Eve.
Monday morning I see I have three hours of WSOP poker recorded - yum.
But when I sit down to watch them - it was the same three hours from the week before.
Either that, or I can now magically tell who's going to win every hand.
So I'm angry at ESPN for lying to me.
They could label the shows "Show 16 of 18, Show 17 of 18" but no, people might
catch on that ESPN is screwing them so the make it their policy to keep people in the dark.
ESPN, thy name is whore.
The other is those greedy spammers that call themselves yahoo.com.
They have sold my e-mail address to every non-English speaking spammer in the world.
My mailbox is flooded HOURLY with spam that I can't even read.
It's so bad, you can log-off, then log back on and there's new foreign spam.
If you log-off again and then log back on, there's new, NEW foreign spam.
Yahoo sends me spam EVERY time I check that mailbox, the greedy bastards
Yahoo sold my address to spammers and they should have to pay a price for that.
Why doesn't someone organize a boycott or something?
Yahoo and AOL are the biggest spammers in the world
and they aren't charged with spamming their customers - why?
