Republicans are going to have to right this thing. They have to stabilize it.

It’s time to admit the Romney campaign is an incompetent one. It’s not big, it’s not brave,
it’s not thoughtfully tackling great issues. It’s always been too small for the moment.
All the activists, party supporters and big donors should be pushing for change.

People want to focus on who at the top is least constructive and most responsible.
Fine, but Mitt Romney is no puppet: He chooses who to listen to.
An intervention is in order. “Mitt, this isn’t working.”

If Piggy gets tired of politics, she could always be an August in Oklahoma Weather Girl.

That video where Mitt Romney was caught being himself at a campaign fund-raiser
has had a moderately negative effect on registered voters, a new poll indicated.

The poll, taken Tuesday, showed 36% of registered voters indicating they would
be less likely to vote for Romney after the tapes were released. Twenty percent said they
were more likely to vote for Romney, and 43% said the tapes made no difference.

So, 36 % of Thurston voters are now running away from him?

If you were never going to vote for Thurston, there's no way some video
could persuade you to be less likely to vote for the witless Romney, right?

Since the weekend, Thurston has lost 1/3 of his support.

Maybe the GOP should consider replacing him with Man-on-Dog?

MSNBC kicked FOX's ass in the prime time ratings twice this week...

The Willard Romney "47%" debacle could be the beginning of the end of right wing domination
of the debate in this country. The reason is obvious; what people are finding out is, what Romney
said isn't exactly a new idea for the GOP; in fact, it's been the Republican meme for more than 30 years.

One sign of a crack in the right wing armor is the ratings since this story broke is in the cable news ratings.
It seems that MSNBC has beaten Fox News (adults 25-54) in prime time twice this week.

Senate Dems looking Better
Thurston is dragging them all into the swamp

The Wisconsin Senate race shows the Democrat leading Thurston's boy by NINE,
a sharp turnabout from mid-August when the Dem was BEHIND by nine.

A race that is not tightening is Virginia, where Demo Tim Kaine now leads by EIGHT.
This comes after poll upon poll had them neck-and-neck race for much of the year.

In Massachusetts, Democrat Elizabeth Warren holds a slight lead.

To make things worse for the Party of Hate, Ohio and Florida are slipping away.
Dem Bill Nelson held a double-digit lead over Connie Mack (R), while Demo
Sherrod Brown led Willard's boy Josh Mandel by 7 points.

So, with the senate safe, how are we doing over at the House?

Obama should be saying in speeches, "Give me a few more Democrats and the
Boner obstructionists won't be able to block progress on future jobs bills."

GOP Kills Veterans Jobs Bill
"Screw those Vets" at Election time?

Eager to screw Obama’s legislative agenda just weeks before the election, Senate Republicans on Wednesday
blocked a measure that would have provided $1 billion to help veterans find work in their communities.

The GOP chant broke out on the senate floor:
"Screw those Vets, screw those Vets!"

The measure, which could have created jobs for up to 20,000 veterans, was blocked on a procedural point by
the We-Hate-The-Troops Republicans, who argued that the bill was unpaid for. Senator Patty Murray, the
bill’s main sponsor, said the bill would have covered the costs in part with fees on Medicare providers and
suppliers who are delinquent on their tax bills. The vote was 58-40, two votes short.

“It’s both shocking and shameful that Republicans killed a bill to put America’s veterans back to work,”
Ms. Murray said in a statement.

“At a time when one in four young veterans are unemployed,” she said, “Republicans should have been able,
just this once, to put aside the politics of obstruction and to help these men and women provide for their families.”

She added that the vote was “stark reminder” that Mitch the Bitch and Senate Republicans “are willing to do
absolutely anything to defeat President Obama. It doesn’t matter who gets in their way or which Americans
they have to sacrifice in that pursuit, even if it’s our nation’s veterans.”

The Republican Party is TRYING to give Obama the White House AND both Houses.

Will Obama know how to accept their gracious gift?

The millionaires sat, waited on by the 47 percenters.

They listened to how the 47 percenters are lazy victims who aren't ever going to take
responsibilitiy for their lives, while the 47 percenters filled their glasses, took away the
crab cake crumbs so they could have a clean space to write their checks. They were
sedentary, the idle rich, listening to what hard workers they were, while hard work by
the lazy victims swirled around them. The checks flowed from millionaires, to millionaires.

The 47 percenters got a few bucks in a tip, maybe, on top of temp wages from the caterer.
But one of them left his smartphone running on a table. The rest of them probably knew,
probably liked it. Who was he? No one told. That waiter is the hero of the 2012 election.

No one else has been able to reveal the real Romney.
He did, and a nation should thank him, or her. We may never know.

Thurston Pulls off his Mask
Turns out he's an alien from Kolob

The the most important revelation here isn't Romney's witting distortions. It's his indignant
condemnation of almost half the American electorate. A president is supposed to represent
all of America, not just the 51 percent who elect him, and have a modicum of sympathy
for the less fortunate among us.

Yet here is the real Mitt Romney - a fabulously wealthy financier, presumably speaking to
other wealthy people (note the waiters scurrying about), with a passion we haven't before
seen in him - saying it isn't his "job" to worry about Americans who he describes as "irresponsible,"
who fail to take care of themselves, and whose neediness is presumably their own fault.

Some of us thought Thurston was without core or principle, an empty suit that would say
anything to be elected. But here, evidently, is the real Mitt - a man whose core principle is
clearly on display, and articulated with deep conviction: social Darwinism - survival of the
richest, the hell with those who need a helping hand. In a subsequent news conference he
attempted to make it sound as if he was talking here about political strategy, not social
conviction. Watch and see for yourself.

Thurston's Major Meltdown

When the crisis in the Middle East flared up, Romney turned out to have no restraining inner core.
All the uneasy feelings you got when he went to London and dissed the Olympic organizers can now
come into full bloom. Feel free to worry about anything. That he’d declare war on Malta. Lock himself
in a nuclear missile silo and refuse to come out until there’s a tax cut. Hand the country over to space aliens.

Here is Thurston on Wednesday, explaining why he broke into a moment of rising international tension and
denounced the White House as “disgraceful” for a mild statement made by the American Embassy in Cairo
about the importance of respecting other people’s religions:

"They clearly sent mixed messages to the world. And the statement came from the administration — and the
embassy is the administration — the statement that came from the administration was a — was a statement
which is akin to apology and I think was a severe miscalculation.”

Feel free to reread this when you’re staring at the ceiling at 4 a.m.

More and more, Thurston reminds me of Der Monkey Fuhrer - but without the restraint.

Chick-Fil-A slows the Hate

Chick-fil-A, the "we hate gays" fast-food chain, has agreed to stop funding hate groups,
a Chicago alderman says. Joe Moreno, the alderman whose opposition of a proposed
Chick-fil-A on Chicago's north side helped fuel the controversy, says the company has
pledged to include a statement of respect for all sexual orientations in a memo to staffers,
and has promised that the WinShape Foundations, its not-for-profit arm, would no longer
contribute money to groups that oppose gay marriage. Moreno said he will recommend
that Chick-fil-A's construction plans be approved.

I'd just like to point out what I believe is a breaking point in your logic.

Most of those things which are pointed out as being taken care of by the government are
government monopolies. In order to be hypocritical, I believe that man must have the ability
to accomplish those same things that the government does through private enterprise.

I wish we were at a bar having this conversation so I could ask some quick questions.
Since I can't, I'll try to take a stab at what you meant:

Are you saying San Francisco would be better off if the government had not built the
Golden Gate Bridge, waiting instead until the locals could get together back in 1938 and
hire some engineers and try to raise enough money to buy the land and buy the steel
and hire the thousands of workers needed to build the bridge?

If so, are you saying private businessmen would have succeeded in building that bridge
AND they would sell passage on that bridge cheaper than the fee they currently charge?

OR, think about a small town out West a hundred years ago. Towns were generally
owned by the family who owned the company that employed the most people.

In many/most cases, that meant they also owned the sheriff, so (in this example) if
Sam Walton wanted you dead, he'd have the sheriff shoot you and it was all legal.

OR, think about Enron owning the fresh-water rights for Southern California.
If you think Enron would sell fresh-water rights to people cheaper than the government,
I'm very surprised to see that you would enjoy reading bartcop.com

There's nothing wrong with private emterprise per se, but unregulated free enterprise
is more dangerous than drinking a quart of Jack and jumping on your Harley.

Pawlenty Jumps Ship on Thurston

Desperate to get away from The Necromatic Funeral Party, Tim Pawlenty has quit as co-chair of
Thurston's presidential campaign on Thursday to become one mega-crooked Wall Street lobbyists
in Washington. Pawlenty will lead the Financial Services Roundtable, whatever that is.

"It is an honor to call Thurston and Lovey my friends," Pawlenty lied in a written statement.
"As the campaign moves into the home stretch, Thurston has my full support and continued
faith in his vision and his policies." Aides say Pawlenty released the statement becauee he
didn't think he could lie to the cameras with a straight face.

Truth is, Pawlenty spread the word that he would take ANY job, regardless of pay,
to get away from the career-destroying mega-disaster that is Thurston Romney.

"Tim Pawlenty is a dear friend," Romney lied in the same statement.
"He's brought energy, intelligence and tireless dedication to every enterprise in which
he's ever been engaged, and that certainly includes my presidential campaign.

"While I regret he cannot continue as co-chair of my campaign, his new position advancing
the integrity of our financial system is vital to the future of our country," Romney said.
"I congratulate him."

They are such lousy liars.
That's one of the reasons Thurston's campaign is in so much trouble.

NOBODY BUYS that Pawlenty took this job because it was a singularly excellent,
one-of-a-kind job that'd likely not be available after the election.

BULLSHIT!

Pawlenty is cutting his losses so he can say, "They tanked after I left."

They're not fooling anyone.
