NBC News chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel has revealed how he thought he was going to
be led outside and executed by Syrian captors who held him and his production team for five days.
The prominent journalist, 39, was entering Syria from Turkey on Thursday with two crew members
and their security guard when they were abducted, thrown into the back of a truck and blindfolded.
They were taken to an unknown location and kept blindfolded and bound, but on Monday, they were
released after a firefight with Syrian rebels at a checkpoint and have now re-entered Turkey.
Following his release, Engel told Turkish media that he would 'rather forget' the ordeal.
He said he and his team were 'very happy to be out' but 'very tired'.
I like this guy - I've never heard him tell a lie.

Hear that? It's the grumbling of snarling dogs who are now churning out a theory that Hillary is lying
about her concussion to avoid having to testify about Benghazi. Clinton had a concussion recently,
her team said Saturday. And Jim Treacher isn't sending her a get-well card until she proves she was
really hurt. He writes:
If she has a concussion, let’s see the medical report. Let’s see some proof that she’s not just stonewalling.
If it’s true, then we can all wish her a speedy recovery. But it’s ridiculous to expect us to take her word for it.
The State Department released a statement saying that "while suffering from a stomach virus, Secretary Clinton
became dehydrated and fainted, sustaining a concussion," and Treacher is not alone in not buying that.
Conservative blogger Lucianne Goldberg (LBJ's Monica Lewinsky), echoed that statement with a tweet:
Hillary has given us a great new excuse. Don't call in with a cold or a bad tooth.
Just say you have a concussion. It can last for days.

Just read yesterday's piece, entitled "Guns," by a Democrat.
He makes a lot of good points, but once again, why do these people that oppose gun control
not realize that there is a whole continuum of actions that can be taken to impose gun control,

military and police have guns - and everything in between?

or engaging in delicate negotiations in Islamabad.
It's a highly unusual role for a Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman: envoy with a
special but undefined portfolio.
Throughout this past election year, he skewered Romney at nearly every opportunity and was
a vocal booster for the president's re-election. Kerry memorably told delegates at the Convention:
"Ask Osama bin Laden if he's better off now than he was four years ago."
Obama seems likely to reward all that work by nominating Kerry to be Secretary of State.
The prospects for Kerry soared last week when Obama caved in on Susan Rice to avoid
a fight with those football-yanking Senate Republicans.
A Kerry nomination has been discussed with congressional leaders, and consultations between
the White House and congressional Democrats have centered on the fate of his Senate seat,

Subject: my 9-11 theory
I started reading your page shortly after 9/11 actually, and always found your analysis
unique and impressive. When you called it on Kerry for the Q-Tip picture, for example,
I knew you were right, and nobody else seemed to see it. I wish some of Obama's people
WOULD read your column, if for no other reason than to pick up some negotiating skills.
I haven't heard this anywhere else, so here goes. It's based on what we've always known
about the players involved, that they were arrogant, greedy, incompetent aristocrats.
It requires no new interpretation of ANY of the official account.
There was no need for Bush or the government to conspire with anyone.
No missiles, no controlled demolitions were necessary.
All they had to do was nothing.
We know they believed that turning Iraq into a democracy was the key to transforming
the Middle East. They also believed it would take "another Pearl Harbor" to accelerate
the process. (The referenced link is two brief paragraphs.)
I think they saw Al Qaida like they see all people that are not like them, as subhuman and stupid,
and incapable of anything so ambitious. My guess would be they expected some damage, maybe
a few hundred lives at worst, but nothing remotely as bad as what happened. The WTC had
withstood terrorist bombs before, right?
But I suspect even that might be giving them too much credit for how much thought they gave it.
I suspect they didn't even care what that event might be, as long as they had their Pearl Harbor.
Literally all they had to do was not care.
According to Clinton Adviser Sidney Blumenthal:
"The Bush administration is trying to withhold documents from the 9/11 bipartisan commission.
I believe one of the things that they do not want to be known is what happened on August 6, 2001.
It was on that day that George W. Bush received his last, and one of the few, briefings on terrorism.
I believe he told (Clarke) that he didn't want to be briefed on this again, even though Clarke was
panicked about the alarms he was hearing regarding potential attacks. Bush was blithe, indifferent,
ultimately irresponsible..."
In short, they didn't need to make it happen, when all they had to do was let it happen.

his officer's uniform when he stepped into a San Francisco barbershop for a haircut.
"We don't serve Japs here," the barber told him.
Memories of such encounters remained vivid to Sen. Inouye, who in his political career
spoke eloquently in support of civil rights and social welfare programs.

Since it appears nobody else has the balls to say, I will.
It's time to call for a constitutional amendment to modify the second amendment
to ensure gun regulation doesn't depend on the makeup of the Supreme Court.
Adding the line "The Congress and the several states are therefore empowered to enact
such regulations as they deem necessary for the safety and protection of the United States
and its citizens at home and abroad." would not remove or modify gun ownership in the US,
but it would remove the Supreme Court from the equation. Clearly stating that guns are a
regulated item, as they are everywhere else in the world, takes the constitutional argument
off the table and gets rid of the frothing insanity that comes out every time you try to have
a sane discussion about guns.
You can NEVER have meaningful gun reform with the SCOTUS hanging over the process.

It warns, “We will destroy you. We are coming.”
An Anonymous source has said it intends to keep the website offline throughout the day,
with plans to take it over completely and deface it.
We will continuously DDOS until they are forced to put their inbred church tithes
to use to pay for bandwidth.
